Onion & garlic in an authentic marwadi dish...tats just insane...plus the recipe is all wrong....if you do not how to make something then atleast dont try...
omg...... this is not at all a rajasthani style of papad ki sabji..................! these ppl ve messed up things and of course spoiled rajasthan's name ........ don dare next time........
@pinkstar027 : One trip to the local Indian Grocery store can take care of all the issues :) Central Market and other Whole Food stores also carry a lot of stuff now.
Didn't know what papad was because just new to the cooking style. Had to look up Asafoetida. Says called "devil's dung", which doesn't sound very appetizing. Is sour yogurt like regular unflavored yogurt? Also didn't know dried mango powder. Lots to learn to try these recipes.
@MegF142857 asafoetida is some kind of strongly aromatic spice used in indian cuisine. if you cannot find it (like me) you can skip it since it's never used as the crucial flavoring (using too much of it will make your food taste and smell horrible).
I am married to a rajasthani guy and when his mom was here she taught me how to make this subzi. Her recipe was a little different she does not add onions or garlic. (they dont eat it). and add the end she added fresh corriendar ginger and green chilli that gave super fresh addition to the whole dish.
But I like this recipe since I love onion and garlic. Will try it soon.

What would you accompany this with?

@JaninaM : Chapati, Paratha, Naan or Bajra Roti. Rice would be a good option too.

Reminds me of a tortilla soup in appearance.
