ugh, im in the process of switching to Petrus and i understand EVERYTHING except this step! its so confusing... it doesnt look like you fixed bad edges. maybe its just me. idk
I've seen you and others who fix the edges that when you do, you do it without rotating the cube at all, while I on the other hand have to rotate it to be able to fix them. Could you describe how you do it in your next video? Really appreciate it, can't wait to see the next video.
I'm not sure what you mean. when I fix bad edges I hold the cube so that the 2x2x3 runs from the DBL to the DBR corner. The 2 layers that are scrambled are the U and F faces. This makes it so bad edges can be fixed with R L U and F moves. After fixing bad edges I do a y' rotation and do R U moves to do the rest of F2L. I'll try to get a video up tomorrow (7-27).
Damn you Erik, I always learn something new every time I watch one of your vids. At 1:30 the way you solved the first block is way different than what I would have done, but it was way more efficient, too.
Yeah, that would be really helpful. I've decided to work hard on building blocks faster, fixing edges and f2l first. Get really fast at this then start memorizing pll's and oll's.
No need to get pompous :P I know you are faster than him but Anthony is still one of the fastest petrus and overall cubers in the world. By the way i am informing you that i am switching to petrus as my main method :) Hurry up with that bad edges tutorial!!!!! :P
I'll try to get a bad edges tutorial up sometime. as soon as I figure out a good way to describe how I recognize them. and Petrus owns so stick with it. :)
sure thing. there are so many things you can do for this step. sometimes I do L turns to match corners to edges. it's kind of like a niklas commutator. most people say you can't break the 2x2x3 for this step but sometimes it's a good thing to do so.
yeah, always move slowly but surely and like you said in an earlier tutorial - "there's always a better way to do something." and then at the last layer just go as fast as possible right?
I've discovered a cool technique for petrus that makes F2L amazing. it might be in one of my next videos or it might be a secret trick just for me. :)
Thanks a lot Erick. It helped quite a bit, the three edge cycle was pretty fast so I'll have to watch it a few times.
I understand everything now, I'm going to work on building blocks faster and in less moves and in general try to get faster. Then memorize those OLL's and PLL's.
Once I get sub 30 I'll make a video showing it off and dedicate it to you! :D
i just noticed that when you solved the F2L using 2-gen only, you will fix some bad edges too

Oh.. I forget who I was watching who has the cube held in a different position. You use the same grip as me then.
Thanks, I really appreciate it, I promise I'll get sub 30 soon and then I'll record myself and dedicate to you Erik. You're one of my favorite cubers.

thanks I'm probably going to make an advanced bad edges tutorial. there are a few neat little tricks you can do while/before fixing them.

I still don't go my absolute full speed on the LL because I'll lock up a lot. I keep it to a quicker pace though.
CaptianCrash44 3 years ago
i saw by your average video that you moved the cube a reasonable speed, not like nakaji's speed but not too fast and not too slow
boiswatching 3 years ago
you use petrus?
Desie37 3 years ago
i practiced petrus for about a month but eventually changed back to fridrich, petrus is an amazing method though
