i used to be a christian (OEC, now im an atheist) and some of the NEC members of my church told me about the moon getting further away, proving them right... this video has such great info, i wish i knew about it back then, thanks thunderfoot. Ps: they also have said something about some layer of gas (its not the ozone) that is decreasing in mass each year by a large amount, they use this to argue that the earth is young, anybody got any info about this?

@chrism4n14 It's an attempt to show that the Earth-moon system is younger than currently thought. If the moon were receding at 3" per year (it isn't) AND if that rate were constant since the beginning (certainly not) then the system is only a few hundreds of millions of years old, not billions.

@chrism4n14 It's an attempt to show that the Earth-moon system is younger than currently thought. If the moon were receding at 3" per year (it isn't) AND if that rate were constant since the beginning (certainly not) then the system is only a few hundreds of millions of years old, not billions.
This is like saying if the Queen of Sheba had a beard, she'd be the King. And it is of course no help at all to the hapless morons who say the system is only 6 000 years old.

Historically:
10^3 = Thousand
10^6= million
10^9 = thousand million
10^12= billion
10^15= thousand billion
10^18= million billion
10^21= trillion
In the us system (billion being used in place of thousand million, and trillion being used to replace billion) politicians like this as it sounds more sensational

However they multiplied 3*4.1 which is 12.3
So, that multiplied by 1 billion is 1,230,000,000,000.
