Because a 12a is lighter, and I like to be different and prefer not to copy everyone else out there. I'm quicker than quite a few 13B engines,my drag racing times are quicker than a lightly modified turbo car, the engine is pushing out close to 170 whp currently and I can get 30 MPG on the highway. Its not about how big your engine is, its about how efficient you can make it. Its a bigger challenge doing so and I welcomed that challenge :)
@samhamm na u just couldnt find a 13b u are faster than some 13b because they have around 135hp and ur sed some... if it was all that why did mazda quit on 12a... u just like ur 12a cuz u dont have another choice
@quickcooper61 No real secrets just good tuning :) A high hp engine is also a very efficient engine and if tuned appropriately can be very good for fuel mileage. I do run 2 different ECU tuning maps with one geared for efficiency and the other one geared towards performance. The fueling, timing, and split timing maps are quite radically different from one an another. But also keeping your vehicle in tip top shape is always a good things too (All bearings good, alignment is good, tire pressure...
i dont understand why mod a 12a... its like grabing a mustang v6 and trying to race with it
