  • I kept running for a good 10 seconds even after it had come free from the airframe, Sounded like something came apart around the compressor as you could hear the air screaming out! Guy who pulled the cable was very very lucky!

  • Wow, you just missed the shot of your life. Congrats!

  • that was shitty version

  • This is bad video...very, very, bad...

  • why not using a crane?

  • What happened to the sound at the end?

  • Lame

  • nek minnit...

  • F'in scarey!!

  • wadsworth constant applies

  • good job by the camera man and the editor, I give in a 9 on the annoying to watch scale

  • the rope connected to the heli was unable to be released. apparently there proceadure is to get some one to tug on it to try release it. when the man pulled on it it pulled the rope into the main rotor. i thought the thing looked very wrong and a heli should not have been used in such a small populated space

  • @J4m35George Looks like the rope/cable already had done its work?? Why did the pilot descend? Does not seem like a cable strike more the chopper descending into some nasty shit???

Just glad it was low level and the rotor assembly departed so less stuff flying round!

  • Crazy stuff. Good work you, johnny on the spot.

  • what even happened? do you know? did he hit something?

  • @littlec916 There's a guy there that had to flick a cable to unclip it but it back fired and got caught in the rotary or something.

  • Was it the guy in black uder the helicopter that caused this? you can see him flick the cable over at 4:03

  • Step 1: Tilt head to left

Step 2: Skip to 3:44 for near crash time

most of this video is of the helicopter in the sky

  • Got neck ache watching this video

  • The guys who jumped in to get the pilot out where very bloody brave! NZ has had i very bad year...I'm so glad to hear that the pilot is ok.

  • @MrApeman69 Every body that was close ran to do what ever they could.

  • @J4m35George As you would!!! Cannot blame anyone for doing that!!

Then the pilot got the help he needed and in a timely manner.

A lot of people who are near these things just go into shock and freeze, some wait for the dust then go in to rescue mode. Kudos to them! :) :)

  • 4min5sec guy in black shirt under chopper jumps up to grab cable, boom!

  • This is the ultimate nek minnit!

Check out the guy in the black shirt directly under the chopper, at the end of the video about 4:05mins, jumps up to grap a cable......nek minnit!!

  • Not bad. I have a couple tips for next time though.

    1. make a label that says "This side up" and attach it to the top of your phone.

    2. continue recording the subject when a significant event occurs.

  • @Steve55599 Sorry for stopping recording to grab a fire extinguisher and go help!!

  • @J4m35George I suppose we can let it slide this time. Was the engine still running after the crash?

  • @Steve55599 it stopped but you can hear it winding down in other videos (loud whining)
