If they profit the shareholders profit too and the vast majority of those shareholders are blue collar hard working Americans with 401Ks, IRAs, etc. So more drilling means lower gas prices helping the poorest Americans the most (the ones that Democrats claim the stand for), the economy improves because people will be able to spend more on other things, and those saving for retirement get more money!
