Example: one of my best friends is a theist and we argue and debate regularly about various topics from religion to art, music, aesthetics, etc. But I am not a bigot for thinking some of his ideas rubbish (nor is he for that matter). The Gospels contradict eachother on the crucifiction, books about anti-christ and revelation were used to help Jews persecuted by the Romans feel better. Claims of Jesus' divinty were established centuries after he was said to die. To realize the Jesus character nothing more than myth one simply has to consider the premise on which his existence is based - original sin.
To believe in the Jesus character as real you also have to believe in a talking snake, a young earth(6000 years or so) and that evolutionary theory is an elaborate hoax along with a hundred other delirious fantasies.

Had you done even minimal examination of the facts, you would have found that there is actually NO contemporary accounts of a Jesus, man or god, in any written record.
Kind of strange for a guy that walked around on water, healing the sick, reviving the dead etc., wouldn't ya say. Especially since there were dozens of historians in that erea at the time.

@Shineplawks That could be because back then Jews were second class citizens, so the powers that were in charge at the time didn't think they (The Jews and what they did) were worth writing about. Doesn't mean it didn't happen. I actually think all those miracles did happen! Jesus never lied to anyone, he wasn't a man put here to lie to us. He was here to spread the truth. But if you are an atheist then I have a pretty good idea where you stand on this issue.
