After spending many hours diving into the doctrine of the Mormons, I've discovered something. I pray for those who are trapped, those who feel they have to please their leaders, those who ignore the truth about grace, those who condemn Christians, those who don't know who Jesus is, those who think good works covers their sins. Those who follow Joseph Smith.
Whether the crisis be abuse, recession, war, disease or death, Judy Dushku's first question always is: What about the women?
That feminist approach is the natural legacy of Dushku's Mormon mother, who taught young Judy and her two sisters how to organize, embrace, build and minister to a sisterhood everywhere they went.
Dushku -- a political science professor at Suffolk University in Boston, LDS Boston Stake Relief Society president and now president of an international nonprofit organization bringing hope and healing to war-torn Uganda -- was in Utah last week to receive the 2010 Eve Award from the Mormon Women's Forum.
The spirit of apostasy and the increasing influence of Hellenization contributed to a spiritual and doctrinal decline in the second and third centuries. According to this thesis, the result was that early Christianity, rooted in apocalyptic Judaism, was transformed into a synthetic blend of "Christianity" and pagan Platonic philosophy. The process of Hellenization was so severe that it literally killed the religion Christ founded and replaced it with something else.
Researchers at Brigham Young University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill pooled data from 148 studies on health outcomes and social relationships -- every research paper on the topic they could find, involving more than 300,000 men and women across the developed world -- and found that those with poor social connections had on average 50% higher odds of death in the study's follow-up period (an average of 7.5 years) than people with more robust social ties
The Harvard-educated Sowell, a professor emeritus of Italian and comparative literature, was chairman of the BYU department of French and Italian for nearly a decade and later directed the Honors College before his retirement last year
Madison Sowell, a 30-year Brigham Young University humanities scholar, has been named acting provost of Southern Virginia University, a private liberal arts college serving Mormon students.
Sowell will fill the shoes left by Paul Edwards, who left SVU to become editorial page editor at the Deseret News.
"And it came to pass that we did take our bows and our arrows, and go forth into the wilderness to slay food for our families; and after we had slain food for our families we did return again to our families in the wilderness, to the place of Shazer" (1 Nephi 16:13-14).
The Lehites were in the Valley of Lemuel long enough that Lehi's sons as well as Zoram married the daughters of Ishmael. Sometime later, Lehi received a revelation to continue moving into the wilderness. "And we traveled for the space of four days," wrote Nephi, "nearly a south-southeast direction, and we did pitch our tents again; and we did call the name of the place Shazer."
"My home was just wonderful," Sister Wixom said. "Even though I had the insecurities of youth — which I think everybody has — I was blessed with people around me to enrich my life, to teach me and set good examples."
Despite feeling gangly, skinny and awkward as a young girl around friends, Sister Wixom loved being at home with family — especially her two brothers and identical twin sister, Roseanne.
@LDS4Life71 Yes , I don't think he's dribble means anything. I certainly could not get him to answer any questions or explain what he is trying to do.
I am not mocking. Mormons produce allot on Youtube videos that have within the title the word "evidence" yet present none. I am simply making my own observations.
If your feeling persecuted I would say that would be the norm for you outside of Zion.
He wanted people to appreciate their own ancestors more," LeAnne Seely said. "Even though the stories are his own family stories, the scenes are so universal that everybody can relate."
"It was a nice way to remember what he was devoted to, what he was happiest doing," LeAnne Seely said.
Her father's script shares the stories and faith of early Mormon pioneers who were asked to settle throughout the Utah territory, in particular Castle Valley, between 1878 and 1880.
In attendance with President Uchtdorf and his wife were Elder Kent D. Watson of the Asia Area presidency and his wife, Sister Connie Watson.
Prior to the meeting, President and Sister Uchtdorf met with all full-time missionaries serving in Hong Kong. He emphasized the importance of teaching investigators with a clear purpose and sharing pure doctrine
The meeting in Hong Kong was held on Sunday, July 18, in the chapel on the first floor of the Wan Chai Church Administration Building and was simultaneously broadcast to chapels on the fourth and sixth floors, as well as other chapels in Kowloon Tong, Tai Po, Yuen Long and Macau, a total audience of 2,500.
@LDS4Life71 You don't bother to offer any evidence. Truth
as you say " Only by the Holy Spirit " can one know truth. Honestly admitting that evidence is insignificant to you belief. ( not relevant )
suggesting truth needs no evidence. ? Evidence is counter to truth ?
Only by heavenly manifestation can you be sure, God tells you.
Why then are you attempting to argue Mayan culture is evidence of the book of mormon lamanites fall. "book of mormon evidence" is the title of the post.
EL PASO -- A 71-year-old woman died after being found unconscious, hugging one of her dead dogs in the smoke-filled hallway of her burning home late Monday night in Northeast El Paso...Tucker's neighbor for 30 years, Henry Roberts, described her as a caring person who had adopted children and was active in the Mormon church
A friend told me of the news that a man had been found alive in the rubble in Haiti, after twenty-seven days buried. When he was asked how he survived without water he told them that a man in a white coat had brought him water.
Well it's true, they bash and talk trash and make false truths and lies about us. The facts still remain facts. Jesus Christ started a church with a Foundation of Apostles with authority to recieve the revelation to lead His sheep. But that foundation was killed off and the Apostacy begun.
Joseph Smith restrored the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Lord Commanded it to be so. The restoration is biblical.
Its a lot easier than discovery; it prompts no one to action; it keeps one in ignorance; it may stifle one's progress; it lacks any actual thought; it helps a person refrain from any pleasant feelings;
Deny it all, folks! That's the name of the game. Besides, if someone joins this Mormon church, I hear that they have to walk this straight and narrow and we all know that walking uprightly before God is not possible.

You would have thought that with all the wars , steel swords , breast plates, chariots and horses they would have been uncovered and discovered .

@kramd1 Finding them will still only leave you scoffing. Those items don't prove truth, the Holy Spirit does.
