  • this guy is damn good

  • oh no don't get him angry don't get him angry oh no oh now you've done it.

  • awesome m8 :D

  • uuh...what??

    :/

  • hahaha nice!

  • 6_6 the rest of your work is most impressive all is in order very good very good O_O

  • wooohhh ¡¡¡

  • Now that is how monsters should really fight in a game. Tight work dude.

  • NIce work man.

  • VERY nice

  • you need more punch. you should exadurate the hits by making them seem faster then they look in life. you animated a creature that needs more life!

  • Thanks for the tips. I know that most viewers are used to Hollywood like fighting with short cuts and sped up footage. However this was a project for class and the assignment was to record ourselves doing some exercise then animate a character using the reference footage.

  • sh*t , you did an awesome job on it.. I'm impressed

  • I have a question. I made a character through Zbrush. and wen i import that character in 3ds max and try to make an animation. The character does not move its limbs like the biped. like wen i try to rotate or move the arm it gets completey seperated from the body and looks like a rubberband but it connected to the body. so is there a way to make it so it can rotate and move like the biped? without destroying the arm becuase after i rotate it i have to make it so it fits with the body again.

  • You have to rig the character to a biped or bone system, then you move the bones around to animate the mesh. You can't just animate a mesh by moving its verts around.

  • thanks so much i will try that right now.

  • just when i thoguth i knew everything there is to know about computers this heavnlyprogram comes down lol im gonna attempt to make a game fps real world today life nice the way that it actually followed the boxer looks almost like a motion senser was on the boxer as it was takes lol

  • Good job.

Good luck on your other work!

    Greetings from another animator

  • Thanks. Greetings to you as well.

  • how'd you do the cylinder?

  • I just moved the pivot point to the bottom of the cylinder and keyframed the animation.

  • I thoght this was a mocap .bip. Nice animating! Im still a beginner in max, how did you make your tale flexible?

  • You can add a tail to max's biped character, or you could always rig your own. There are no dynamics on the tail, I animated it.

  • nice, that makes it even better

  • Can You Post A Tutorial On How You Did That Or Tell Me Whats That Particular Animation called and how did you copy the normal footage and you seem like a great kick boxer by the way lol

  • Thanks. It is just basic keyframe animation. I dropped the video in the background of 3ds max and mimicked the movements with the demon character which was rigged with 3ds max's biped.

Many animators will record themselves, other people or real animals and objects moving and use that as reference. It takes a lot of skill and experience animating to be able to do that from your head without any form of reference.

  • so is this one of the ways you guys learn how to animate? by mimicking actions in real life as practice?

  • Yes. It is actually one of the best ways to animate, to look at real world examples. There are so many nuances that you would never think to include in an animation to make it believable.

  • very nice

  • AWESOME Dude!!! i'm 3DsMax is new for me, pls help me find a tutorial wer i can learn making a book animating it and all..??

  • Dude, awesome! Do you have any tutorials or stuff? I could use some o' that

  • Thanks. Unfortunately I don't, I really need to do some. There are tons of tutorials on the web though, just search for them.

  • hmm, no mocap i see, that's pretty spot on, nice job.

  • Thanks.

  • Ditto. Until I saw the footage used I thought this was motion capture. Good work.

  • Thanks.

  • nice

    it looks rlly profetional

  • wow can you tell me where you did or studying now ?

    DigiPen ?

Or where did you learn this ?

I am getting in the gaming industry yet, please guide

  • I am about to graduate from the Art Institute of Colorado.

  • nice but what degree ?

    I am thinksing game design

  • Actually Media Arts and Animation. We don't have a game design degree at this Art Institute.

  • cool, very nice! keep it up! =D

  • Thanks man! I've been at it a while that's all. And it's what I'm going to school for :-). Keep at and you can get good too.

  • LOVE this stuff! subscribed =D

  • Thanks dude!

  • YEY! A video you didn't die in! :O

Your Damn good at what you do bro. Keep it up.

  • Hahaha! Seems to be a central theme hu? For some reason it is hard to find actors who want to die. I think it's kinda fun :-)

    Thanks for the compliments.

  • Wow, that was extremely impressive! Even with reference footage that's hard work. Your demon has such a real feeling of weight and motion, and the detail in the foot motion is great :)

  • Thank you! A lot of people don't pay enough attention to feet. They actually move quite a bit.

  • damn good animation

  • Thanks man.

  • holy crap mate, good job!! i am learning the Keyframing stuff right now, but it's sooo finnicky........

  • Yes it is. Timing is everything. Best way to get started is to use reference. Either use videos/movies you find or record your own and count how many frames it takes to do something. I like to record my own, then I can get the exact movement and speed I want. It can always be exaggerated with the animation (sped up or slowed down). Good luck.

  • My brother (MrMan1337 is his youtube username) uses 3ds max. Good job by the way.

  • Did you use mocap, or did you just animate what you did see?

  • No motion capture. I just recorded myself and then dropped the video in the background of 3ds Max. :-)

  • cool, what program(s) did u use 5/5

  • Thanks. All 3ds Max.

  • know of any programs similar to 3ds max for linux?

  • Maya and XSI are available for Linux. There is more I am sure.

  • Whoa. I can't admit to being a great character modeler myself, so I'm certainly impressed. It moves exactly the same as the guy!

  • Thanks. It was actually modeled low quality for a reason. I am using a bunch of these guys at once in an animation so I didn't want to add too much detail to the model and make the scene too heavy. Besides I can always add detail with ZBrush and export a normal map.

  • Cool!

  • Thanks.

  • Woooww Kick ass !!! amazing dude !!!

Good mocap and animation set, now all you need is improving your 3D model...

  • I know, think I will take him into ZBrush...
