Making a Simple Tree Limb Whistle

Love the video,I remember my grandfather making them out of canes and wood also using the bark off a chestnut limb in spring when the tree is in sap.

Can you drill holes above the air slot - along the upper shaft and have different tones based on which hoels are covered with your finger - kinda like a flute?
