GB has 2 bronze and 1 silver WC medals, Finland has 3 bronze, 6 silver and 2 gold medals, all taken the last 20 years. On WJC level GB has nothing while Finland has 6 bronze, 5 silver and 2 gold.

Rather then the Swedish elite, it is young prospects/hopeful who hope to prove themselves there. Bäckström and Lundqvist pretty much ignored it because they were lazy, which accurately describes how we view it in Sweden.

If you're proud of it, sure that's great. But most of us in Sweden just laughs at you for actually taking it seriously.

There are over dozen of nhl level Finnish goaltenders, but not so many good Swedes. Even though Finland doesn't have the crazy amount of superstar players like Sweden we have been doing really well in the past 25 years thanks to our top notch coaching.
