  • The announcer in this video used to do softcore porn in Andy Warhol movies.

A very weird guy. Makes sense he would know Bowie.

  • I think this is a good song...a lot of Bowie's eighties stuff would likely have been received better if he had been a new artist, and not one with a formidable back catalogue to compete with. Nice to see Joe Dallessandro in the intro, I forgot he was in this. Probably a bit after his Miami Vice appearance.

  • he always has some sexy slur in his romance songs

    dreamy

    sexy

    **sigh***

  • I've never understood why Bowie doesn't like this song... It's one of my favorite songs by him

  • this music and video is so sweet and beaultyfull... so soft

  • this music has such not only sweetness, but a very good catchy rhythim behind the vocals

  • Vale que otros trabajos de D.B. son lo màs del Rock pero sòlo por esta canciòn el tan denostado disco esta màs que en mis favoritos. Tiene tanta clase y Bowie es tan sexy que....

  • Que sexy...

  • Ahh...Never Let Me Down..a much critizied album, but I can't help it.........a guilty pleasure!

  • I like some pop, but this is to me a dull ballad I thought he originally sung the depeche mode song boy I soooooooooooo wrong

  • One of my favorite songs, and such a wonderful video, I could just watch it all night.

  • This is very Beautiful

  • I love this song. And Time Will Crawl isn't really that bad either, it just boasts a searingly nineties syle to it, so it isn't something I prefer from Bowie.

    I agree with Teckertime, btw.

  • I totally remember this video from my early childhood.

  • @JLadicuss so do i. when i was about 4

  • He's so frickin cool

  • david bowie seems to make a song for everybody to cry too

this turns out to be one of mine

  • I absolutely love this song and the video. I didn't even know about the album until recently, but it's one I really hope to get my hands on because I don't care what people say, I enjoy songs like Day In-Day out, and Time Will Crawl. I've never been disappointed in any of the Bowie music that I've collected.

  • Never Let Me Down was quite as bad as critics claimed although it is one of Bowie admits it's one of his least favorite albums.... I personally like the album

  • Skulldino... How could you be so much into Bowie, as to have either bought or heard all but 1 of his albums, but not heard this one just because you'd heard it's not very good. The only way you can judge, is to listen to it yourself, and as usual, enough times so you know it well enough to judge. It's not one of Bowies best albums, but there are some very good tracks on it. You already like this one, so that's not a bad start. I agree, I'm not mad about the track Day In Day Out either.

  • Wow Another Great David Bowie Song!

  • I admit that I've never heard THIS album ( in it's entirety ), in fact, it's the only Bowie album which I have never bought or listend too, as I've HEARD that it is'nt very good . I DO like THIS song though. I did'nt realy hear it until I bought the Ryko 1969-93 Singles collection ( on which it's also featured )

The only other song that I know from this album is Day In Day Out,..and THAT one realy DOES suck ( Bowie's worst song ever, in fact ).

  • you have no idea what you are speaking about. In Fact he did a whole tour based on this lp and it was his biggest tour ever. The Glass Spider tour., Your missing out big my friend.

  • I really have no idea why this has so many thumbs down. It's a well documented fact that Bowie himself is ashamed of this album and "Tonight."

It doesn't mean you can't like it of course, but it IS well documented that this isn't Bowie's best moment.

  • "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?"

  • I helped create this video. David Bowie was a very nice gentleman, from my experience. Hadn't seen this in years. Brings back memories.

  • LOL @ 2:56 when he takes off his jacket to REALLY get down to business! hahaha I love you David Bowie.

  • lol i had the hair!

  • I've listen this song also in the glass spider tour, memorably

  • Bowie is great! I've been a fan for nearly 3 decades!!!!

  • I wanted that suit back in '87. The shoes were cool as well

  • one of the best bowies songs

  • no doubts about it

  • I am going to find out if he is ok with me filming him for youtube "jamming" on one of his instruments and will post it as a video response in here so everyone else can enjoy watching him do his thing...

  • Now I would like to see that.

  • You will. He still looks the same (except he has less hair) Sorry Michael, it's true!

  • Who is Michael?

More or less hair is one thing but one thing Bowie was not one for gossiping, but he has a memory that would never quit, you wouldn't catch him basting anything unless it needed exposing.

    Everything in the WIDE OPEN

    bam, Bam, ~BAM!@#!!!

  • What!? Dude I don't think you know what is going on here... I stated the guy who is playing the bass for "Bowie" is my friend. He teaches me guitar. And I said nothing about "Bowie" at all, I just said my friend showed me the video and said he was hired for this one time, one video with David Bowie whom unfortunately I did not know, until my friend told me. No disrespect to Bowie, I am not even talking about him, I just cracked a joke for my friend saying he now has less hair than back then!

  • We are all getting old yeah.

  • look at my "hair"...i have more and more every day...

  • alethia83 is my wife's account, sorry I didn't notice I wrote from it.. Don't mean to offend David Bowie's fans. I think it's cool to know someone who worked with this guy David Bowie.

After all Michael is my buddy and I admire him for who he is. I didn't know he was a musician for 24 years when I met him, I just thought he was cool.

  • Paladonian I don't know if you say no he is not meaning he is not a cool dude which I will respond to you -Go fuck yourself!

If you mean he is not my guitar instructor, then you better do some homework before you open your mouth...

  • no he's not

  • The Bassist on this video 4:01, is one of my best friends Michael Javelet!! He is one of the most ineresting, cool people I have ever met -and my guitar instructor as well!

    God bless you Miguelito!!

  • seriously?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • yeah, Absolutely. I didn't even know who David Bowie was until he showed me "his video" and also said the rest of the musicians in it were pissed because he got a close-up for a couple of seconds and this was the first and only time he played for David. LOL.

  • GREAT video!

    Thank you.

  • so cool!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 1:07 oww.

  • Bowie credits John Lennon with the inspiration for this song...a little hard to believe...but look it up!

  • The music sounds the way it dose now toomany0034 becasuse it's prefab'd can'd bullshit, unless you think Britney Spears wrote her own music that is.

  • Love this song....Classic Bowie!!

  • I didn't think I would like this song, because I've always heard that this is Bowie's worst album, and I'm not very into the eighties. But of course I like it. It's Bowie <3 <3 <3 He always hypnotizes me!

  • this is actually a GREAT album. You just have to get used to it. his 87 tour for this album was amazing. I actually saw it 3 times.. i have EVERYTHING by bowie and I still rank this album in top 5. never go by what critics say. listen to it for yourself, its a KEEPER!!

  • not even bowie himself likes it!

  • he is so chukin cool duz my chukin head in /shood release this as a single now it would bre no 1 so differet

  • Wow, he has a beautiful voice.

  • He's so beautiful isn't he?

  • the harmonica is such a great instrument. one of my favorite Bowie songs from the 80s

  • toomany0034!

    you have perfectly say!

  • Bad grammar alert.

  • Music was so much better before than how things are now! everything sounds the same now and the music have no feelings, its like a one night stand !

  • @toomany0034 true

  • @toomany0034 all the songs today are either about one night stands or break ups.

    where's the love?

i agree with you whole heartedly.

  • j'aime beaucoup la photo noir et blanc , Bowie intemporel

  • 2 57 to 3 02 i love it!

  • When I believed in NOTHING ..I called your name. . .

When I needed SOUL revival I called her name. . .

When I was falling to pieces I screamed the name. . .

  • When I started playing the Harmonica they called me weird. When I started playing the accordion of my grandfathers they just LOOKED at me and were ASTONISHED!

The chills they said they felt all over their bodies....as if someone or something was present in the room.

What?!@#! I am playing what I already KNEW.

That was when I was 10 years old.

I played the Violin as a child it killed me with so much sadness then I started Piano.

    *Very strange

  • Bowie ma wiele słabych piosenek, ale jak już coś nagra... Mógłbym słuchać tego bez końca!

    Absolutely great!

  • Would you please upload this song with better picture quality ? or with different picture ?

  • Such a goodlooking fellow... I know it's obvious, but it has to be said!

  • L'horreur of the 80's haaa!! Oh Daaavidd :-)

  • This is a beautiful song, and I like how Bowie sampled his hit "Golden Years" as part of the melody...Vive le Bowie! He's a music god!

  • The only good song from this album. Tells about his drug dealer I suppose...

  • Sorry for my last comment -- this is a great song, I just think the album Never Let Me Down was a lazy effort. But like this and also with "Tonight", both albums have great songs, but they also have filler. Never Let me Down is a great song, and Blue Jean (and Neighborhood Threat) are two great songs off of their not so great albums.

  • Bowie is always critizised - whatever he does, people have to say bad things about it. When he made uncommercial stuff it wasn't good for some, when he made commercial stuff it wasn't good for others... stupid!

  • It's a bird, it's Rick Astley, no -- it's David Bowie!

I'm obsessed with all of his other stuff, but sorry, Never Let Me Down was a shit album.

Oh well, he made a comeback in the 90s, and then the 2000s.

  • this video really let me down, haha

  • the song is kinda tacky, but after a minute is irresistible

  • hated when he started going along with the trends it makes me sad. =[

  • It comes to them all though - very few artists make it past 40 without becoming a travesty. He's still more interesting than most.

  • actually a nice song. not in bowie's top. but it's managed to retain some charm. and the video is stylish. better than some of other videos from that decade.

  • I love this song!! but i can't find it anywhere... do you know where can I get the MP3 of it?

  • My favorite Bowie song he rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • the vid is intresting but this is seriously bowie worst era...its so generic 80's pop jazz, his 70's stuff rocks, his sixties unique and so different every time, 90's forgetable...but never let me down lanks the soul, rawness and invention that bowie is /was the master of

  • The 80's were good to Bowie up until about the release of Blue Jean. I mean Scary Monsters, Baal EP, and Let's Dance are all good pieces, and this song despite sounding like Absolute Beginners part 2 is probably the highlight of his post Blue-Jean 80's. But yes this album and Tonight were both disturbingly bad.

  • His 90's forgettable? No way... Just because he didn't have loads of hits in the 90's doesn't mean he didn't do good work. BTWN, Outside, Hours, Earthling, Buddha Of Suburbia... all very good albums. I also think people have been too harsh on his 80's work. He was still more interesting to listen to than most of his peers.

  • The Problem I have with the 90's Bowie stuff is yes..its tons better than 80's bowie-After Lets dance was uuuuuuuuuuuurgh! The problem with the peers comparrassion is that Aha, Duran duran were making more harrowing songs compared to Bowies souless 80's stuff..sorry but the 70's stuff very good, varied and different but Outside is very pop and Earthling I give you that is better and Buddha of Surburbia is a better direction but The production

  • Yes the production in the 80's on his albums was crap really, maybe on some of his 90's work. But by peers I meant his 60's and 70's contemporaries, like Rolling Stones/Mick Jagger, Elton John, Rod Stewart... they really made some dull stuff IMHO :)

  • oooh Outside is cool, The art detective stuff I was thinking of that other album...just listening to never l;et me down...blah..its so bland, twinkly production, cliche lyrics and predictable chord changes..not classic bowie

  • Looking back now, this is the timeless one from that 1987 LP. Thanks.

  • Under-rated Bowie song, a real gem.

  • luv ur baggy pants dave and ur hair too

  • luv ur baggy pants dave!

  • Sempre espantoso!!!!!!! Sempre David Bowie

  • Never Gonna Let you down!

Shit, he really looks lire Rick here :)

  • Ahahah i love how all 15 year olds (including me) are commenting on this! You Rock Bowie!

  • people go wide eyed when I tell them I'm a big david bowie fan lolz I turn 15 in november & I completly LOVE every david bowie song..I wasn't around when he was doing these songs but I'm glad they aren't gone XD plus he makes the harmonica sexy lolz

  • david bowie is the best singer i have ever seen me and my best frind love this song bowie is aewsome

  • I remember by the late 80s early 90s all my friends stopped listening to Bowie. I still continued to buy all his CDs, albums, and tapes and listen to him in private. When asked what I'm listening to on my walkman people would make fun of me if I said Bowie, so I started to lie and say it was Nurvana (when I hated Nurvana). I felt like a closet Bowie fan back in the early 90s. But it seemed that everyone else was into rap, grunge, and seattle bands.

  • It's funny how your friends were listening to Nirvana and dissing Bowie, when in reality Kurt Cobain was doing the same as you were and listening to Bowie on his walkman.

  • only more prof of what I suspected of Cobain being a record industry made fake. People thought that because he was screaming into a microphone that he was deep. I think it takes more than a grungy look and an act to actually be deep. I absolutly hated Kurt Cobain. Funny thing to is that the day before he died I told all my friends that "I wished he was dead". I guess I got my wish. :)

  • That's a pretty shitty thing to say. I was never a big Nirvana fan but I appreciated their artistry. It was never about clothing, or fashion. Kurt was a very genuine guy who had a lot of emotional problems. If you want to judge by appearances you could easily make an argument that David Bowie is a shallow illusionist whose career is based on image and media manipulation. Of course the fact that the guy's a bona fide genius prevents any such argument getting off the ground, but there it is.

  • Aueneye, sorry, that was just my opinion. I still think most early 90's Seattle Bands were a Record Industry creation to capture the "Alternative" music scene that European bands dominated. I think the whole Grunge/overly dark/one sided bitching whining music was a gimmik back then. The 90's was about rebelling against the shallow 80s but in doing so the 90s were even more shallow. For example overpiced Woodstock 2 concernts and $10 bottles of water to drink while listening to Nirvana.

  • Nirvana was NOT a part of the "Seattle scene." They were not responsible for the moronic media frenzy that put them next to a bunch of shittier bands.

  • TeenageWildlife, Seattle & Aberdeen are "both" in Washington. Same crap difference for same crap 90s music. The only reason anyone liked Nirvana was because they always screamed into the mic pretending they were so deep simply because they were screaming. People fell for it. Posers.

  • I beg to disagree. He was funny, ironic, didn't set out to be deep. Kurt was basically a musical archivist of the 80's American underground and you see all the influences in his work.. Sonic Youth (dissonance), The Vaselines (sad pop melodies, string arrangements), The Melvins (sludgy dirgey songs), Killing Joke, Pixies, among others. But as we're both Bowie fans, I think it's all good. Nirvana was NEVER in the same league as someone like Alice in Chains who were a hair metal band in disguise.

  • My friend has been a die hard Nirvana fan for 9 years and he would disagree

  • just another smash bowie is boss

  • I love Bowie almost more than my boyfriend of three years who I live with...sigh alas he is an absolutely horrid dancer. Unless of course its ballroom dancing then he is the best! Lol but I always end up wanting to take him by the shoulder when i see him dancing and say David I love you but please just don't dance lol unles its the bunny hop from the video for Fashion that one is great! Love you Davie Jones always

  • Bowie how can you not love him?

  • love this song this song is on the glass spider tour

  • I love this song.. And video.. That bit at the end with the little kid is adorable.

  • Which one of you gits rated this comment thumbs down? I don't see what the problem is! ^^;

  • Bowie never let's us down.

  • Incredible!

  • great share .. love Bowie. and yeh yowza yowz

  • I don't quite understand why he never performs this song live.Maybe it's because he hates the whole album...

  • This should be the new Rickroll

  • this song is perfect; and the video is just cool

  • Bowie is a very nice man indeed :D and he a great singer too ! amazing song :D

  • Actor Mickey Rourke was providing backing vocals and a rap performance on this album.

  • cool song

  • I talked to someone who worked on one of his shows in the DC area many years ago. She said he actually is a very nice guy, very down to earth and cool.

  • Thanks.

  • kuy ai head kuy

  • That little girl is so lucky! And how sweet he is to her! David seems to like children and that makes me happy cuz he should. And he is so awesome, that just adds to his awesomeness. I love this song it is so good!

  • this album got terrible reviews...one of my favorites tho...

  • True....

One of Dave's last real inspiring moments,

    Especially ,Beat Of Your Drum.

  • Everything about David is so delicious. I would make wild passionate love with him if I had him alone with me. The things I would do to that man. So yummy!

  • David Bowie can make any look work. The mullet, crooked teeth, mismatched eyes, ANYTHING!!! I love him so much.......... <3 <3

  • I'm with you there xD

  • That song is so best! Bowie is awesome!!

  • Classic

  • I called your name...

  • The emd is cute XD whit the little girl haha xD

  • Even though it was very dirty in this video; it still showed he is such a great man with that little girl, and very responsible.

  • I didnt know he could play the harmonika, WOW WHAT ELSE DOES HE PLAY? He's so not afraid to get so dirty in videos, LOVE HIM!

  • He also plays the recorder lol

  • you ought to hear him play in the intro for the Reality Tour. He rocks the harmonica. He also plays piano, guitar, and several other instruments

  • Ultra cool this man is. Wish I was that little lassy at the end!

  • brad

  • Hi! I think, like Nile Rodgers, Lou Reed, Iggy POP, and many others that I've heard saying this in a DVD that I got, that David Bowie must be one of the most interesting artist in the world! I do think it,and that engages only myself, but I'm not alone to think that, and the others, it's not like me, those artists know him personnally for having played with him, so I don't think being wrong when I say that!In all cases, one of my favourite artist, if not MY favourite artist!

  • Sex on legs indeed. ;)

  • I agree with GlssSpders... why do so many people hate the albums "Never Let Me Down" and "Tonight"? I loved those albums!!!! Especially this song... And this video with dancers and Bowie to play harmonica is amazing!!!

  • I can recognize the Nick's eyes anywhere....

I really love Never let me down! Bowie rocks!

  • I actually miss his old chops...imperfect though they were, they did add to his overall look, know what I mean, jellybean?

  • I loved his messed up teeth. On some people they look ugly, but they made him look cute.

  • I totallly agree!!!

  • Everything about bowie is great, lol

  • One of my favorite of the Bowie "pop" songs.

Could he be anymore fucking cool and classy?!

Somos imediatamente teletransportados a 1987/1988/1989.

  • Does anyone know exactly when he got his teeth fixed. They appear fixed here... but I could be wrong! Sorry this is abit random! But just curious!

  • theres a video on here somewhere thats dedicated just on his teeth

  • Really!? Genius!!

  • type in Bowie's Teeth and it should be the first video

  • oh god. love him. David Bowie is my god. Sex on legs! DAVID BOWIE!!!! I!!! LOVE!!!! YOU!!!!

  • I love this song!

  • Marry me David!

  • why do so many people hate the albums "Never Let Me Down" and "Tonight"? I loved those albums!!!! especially this song...maybe its only because i can relate to it really good..? idk

  • What amazes me most is what a top rate musician he is, If I remember right he plays every instrament except drums. He can play guitar, piano , harmonica aside from some other instraments.. Absolutly amazing musician!!..

  • he plays drums on "sunday"

  • thats cool, there are only a few musicians that are truely that great and David Bowie is definitly my favorite.... Thanks for the info!

  • this is a John Lennon tribute, am I right? Bowie almost channels Lennon's voice a bit, and it sounds a little like Lennon's later music in places. Never Let me Down is perhaps a reference to Lennon's Don't Let me Down. Plus Lennon loved whistling and harmonica.

  • its actually based on the dance competitons during the depression in the staes people were so desperate for cash pretty shocking

  • I used to play this over and over as a teen! Gawd I thought he was a fox! <3
