I've seen them three times, including just the other night at the Mucky Duck in Houston. I brought three people with me, and they're all converts. I wonder the same thing you do. The Asylum Street Spankers should be huge. Maybe they don't want that? Their irrreverent style might get watered down if they did become huge.
