My favorite stage. I like how this thing is much harder (and tougher!) in Delta, even after getting blasted in twain by the R9 in this game.

And is that background supposed to be consistent with the intro of R-Types?

This was one of the hardest games ever, as if you ever died well it was just to hard to continue past level 4 with the basic ship.

So once you lost your power ups that was it!

@null1023 Stage 4 is where the difficulty ramps up. Stage 5 is a nightmare. And so on. Good luck!! =D

I used to be able to cruise through this level back on my old Sega Mastersystem version of this, but playing the arcade version recently on MAME I found it really difficult. I had to give up in the end before I got too wound up.
