  • "I don't think I'll live that long"....

  • Wooo hooo what a cutie!!!!

  • awwh marcs voice

  • What an intelligent, insightful person. Truly shows the depth behind the songs. If there is such a thing as genius, this is it.

  • Marc is asked about how he stays self critical and he answers with a boast about how great he is. LOVE IT!

  • why does he remind me of JOHNNY DEPP?

  • @bossyboots55 I know... It's his mannerisms as well as his looks.

  • @Sanguinecc

    youre right!

  • i loved the way he threw the question back at Russell asking hm instead what he meant ? thats genius !

    Rest in peace, Marc

  • HOUSE OF ROCK!

  • I have only just acquainted myself with Marc's life and work. A true artist in every respect. I wish I could have met him and had a jam.

  • @kimbo44music Me too man, I wish I'd found him sooner - he's fasinating, and what wonderful music. Truly would have been a pleasure to meet.

  • Marc was prettier than a girl.

  • Bolan was very much like an enigma, in the way he puts himself across. A fascinating character and a helluva musician.

  • we love Bolan in South Afr ...in Boland woods

  • Such a smart guy, would love to have had a conversation with him..Alot of people back than were so smart. Probably cause they didn't have tv's and electronic stuff we have now they actually had a passion to study and read back than, one of reasons why I wish i lived back than!! People loved life and were so smart and brillant just like marc bolan..rip marc bolan

  • @rocker70sman

i had to smile to myself readingyour input....you say...back then ...i wish i lived back then...and probably they didnt have tvs and electronic stuff.....like we have now" it was the 70s my dear, not the middle ages..they had lots of electronic stuff and tv. BUT I think i can sort of understand what you mean.....thanks for the smile.:)

  • what year was this interview ????

  • @arealOpia1991 1972

  • well that was prophetic, at the end.. sad, and he is missed...

    happy bday marc!

  • love this video awesome... real rock legend the glam master Marc Bolan Happy 64th Birthday ...!! THE ELECTRIC WARRIOR!! GONE BUT NEVER FORGOTTEN.!!

  • As touching watching this now as it was way back then - He knew his destiny was to leave this planet early - must have been so scary for him to live with - he hinted of it so many times, as if from remembering a dream. One thing is - I cant see him sitting on some cloud being quite - I bet his having a ball and driving all the angels crazy ! God bless you Marc - always in my heart.

  • si el quiere mover la puta silla, LA MUEVE!

  • "That was Lord Byron wasn't it, it wasn't me..." hahaha <3

  • his. bloody. voice. <333

  • i was born in 64 so i grew up in the glam rock era my sisters liked t rex ,david cassidy and donny osmond i loved sweet, it was great times

  • its such a shame he passed away :( RIP Marc

  • He's just a pop/rock singer..

    Not a deity.

  • @Lytton333

i believe we're all deities, kinda

    SO WHAT NOW BRO????

  • I had the pleasure of meeting him briefly at the Tower in Philadelphia. A super charismatic and nice guy.

  • This is the only person I would not mind comparing himself to the Beatles... Marc is just as special and unique........... And much loved!

  • he was "like" jim morrison but he was first!!!!!

  • im a straight man but this guy is pretty magical, pure charisma, coolest hair ever

  • love his hair

  • Watched this interview several times, the ending is really eerie. Not that I think he's being prophetic - I just think, like many people when they are young, he simply couldn't imagine being an elderly man. But of course knowing what happened to him, it makes it sound really mysterious and, of course, very very sad.

  • he was so adorable and talented!! :)

  • I misssssssssssss himmmmmmmmmm sooooooooo much I can't take it!!!!!!!!!

  • WQW!!! Marc's answers were very profound! To understand what Marc was saying, you have to dig deeper and think and listen to the question and the answer very carefully, beyond even what was asked......Marc was very comfortable and confident with the questions. Just the last question unsettled him....I love you Marc ♥

  • let's ask someone from the audience.... no not you, you're obviously a fucking suckhole. that's how it went in my head.

has russell harty ever done an interview that wasn't slightly horrible? what's his problem?

  • How bizarre were his last words?....it was a strange repsonse to give...almost like he knew

  • @pawnsacrifice1 yep that last bit was strange, his reaction went dark n scared n then someone from the audiance shouted something cant hear what was said,be interesting to know

  • It would have been interesting to see if he would have been as iconic as Bowie if he had lived. His songs were certainly ahead of their time

  • What year was this filmed?

  • I bet a lot of people don't realize just how spiritual and imaginative Marc Bolan was. Before he broke out with Electric Warrior and Glam Rock, he was a hippie guru, writing folk and psychedelic ditties about Tolkien fairytales and the like.

It's a shame he slumped so far by the end of his career. My aunt recalled seeing him playing at the local pub in the late 70s! He was probably due for a comeback as well, as a seminal punk rocker before he died.

  • LOL when he makes that little beeping noise at 2:35, I awwed and laughed at the same time.

The ending really gets me though. Makes me wonder if he knew somewhat. You know, with his whole fear of dying young, and not learning to drive for fear of dying young in a crash. Veeeeery specific, Boley love.

  • I have always found him quite similar to Sigourney Weaver (especiallly Sigourney at the beginning of her career)

  • Marc.... gone but NEVER forgotten

  • And he didn't live that long but his memory will carry on forever, I was so heartbroken The day The news came that he was gone.. Your the Prettiest Star Marc. )0( r.i.p

  • He was & still is a wizard

See s through Russell how prophetic x

    )0(

    Violante

  • Great!!!!

  • I'm not in love with t. rex. they're a great band and started glam and all but I really love marc bolan.

  • Ha, ha. Marc toying with Russell playing coy and all. MB was the prototypical pop glam star and he damn well knew it.

  • omg! "I don't think I live that long". that sentence was truly heart-breaking! :(

  • @radwallner1994 fuck, now i know what you mean...just soo sad! :'( *crying*

  • @radwallner1994: that sliced me.

  • @radwallner1994 I know it made me soooo sad. Why oh why did he have to die before i was even born???!!!

  • @4everClassicrock that's what I wonder every day aswell! makes me sad :'(

  • @radwallner1994 Neither he nor Harty lived 'that long' - such a strange and prophetic statement.

  • @radwallner1994 That is only a "Heart-breaking" sentence because he died a few years later. It would not be a "Heart breaking" sentence if he was still alive today. Not wrapping his Mini round a tree..... But I am not being nasty as I love Marc Bolan....

  • @radwallner1994 well he was right, wasn't he... Poor Marc...

  • intelligent man .

  • Comment removed

  • @mjr7801 ty for sharing .....see people ? honest, good, kind , bringing unity to people . and he was possibly killed for it ..

  • waaah hes so cute :3

love the way he talks *-*

  • 1:33 makes me smile ^^

  • Marc Bolan was, and still is amazing!! I wasnt lucky enough to see him as im only 18 but really wish i could have been around at the time he was, he will never be forgotten!! Also, the end of this makes me upset :/

  • @gracehawtin11 I was lucky to grow up in the 70s and 80s. It was a very awesome time to be a teenager through all the new stuff coming out.We saw it all. *)S was cool when thevideo games hit and MTV was the real deal! Not like it is today. I grew up in the best of times....

  • spot on. he had the right approach towards the so-called music business. class act.

  • Never watch this video whilst running a bath because you will fill put too much cold water in it like i just did!

  • "I don't think I will live that long" - If there was ever a god, embodied in a human form it wasnt Jesus, it was Marc Bolan

  • Priceless! Do you know the exact date of this interview? Very smart man. Questioning the question shows his intelligence, which was vast .

  • Wow, he is soooooo Johnny Rotten/Kurt Cobainish. He questions everything the interviewer says instead of just listening. What he's doing right here is enough to get a modern pop star kicked off their label...and this isnt even bad!!!

  • All the money that most of the 70`s stars made got lost,it went to pen pushers and waste of timers and the like, lets be honest, that`s another reason why when The Sex Pistols hit the scene, the corparate record labels lost their grip, but lucky for The Pistols, their classic album would never of got out if it weren`t for the top man Richard Branson. Then the indie record scene took off.

  • @peaceman1234567 The Clash did the same thing, its pretty cool

  • i LOVE his voice.

  • I know I never knew Marc Bolan in person, but I feel incredibly close to him.

  • haunting words.

  • that was very haunting the end part....never seen that footage before

The brightest flames tend to burn the shortest time.

Marc is just one of the many that proove this.

  • so many of his critics accused Marc of being arrogant and a braggart. I have seen so many interviews of him, and I have never gotten this impression. He always seemed matter-of-fact and able to explain himself well. He was a regular person other than being insanely talented.

  • I love his Shoulder Length Corkscrew Hair and Black longsleeve shirt.

  • russell harty was gay who's partner was jamie o neill....i bet he fancied the hole of marc bolan big time!!!

  • People say he was egotistical and awful, but I honestly don't notice that at all. He seems to have been a very sweet individual. Maybe he was a little cocky, but so are all rock stars, especially from that era. I can't find too many stories of him where he is spoken of negatively as a person. Could anyone tell me where this misperception of his alleged arrogance comes from?

And yeah, that part where he predicted his early death... very creepy.

  • At 3:09 poor old Marc saying how he stayed self critical, he just couldn't could he.

  • The look on his face when he said he would not see 30 says it all, he knew, i remember saying that i wouldn't see 30 probably a lot off people in there 20s have, but i would not have had that look.

KEEP A LITTLE MARC IN YOUR HEART.

  • its kind of hypnotic to look at him. maybe because he's hot!!

  • Bolans answers are hilarious.. hes jumpin all over the place trying to get away from almost all the questions.. i love how when he gets a question he doesnt want to or doesnt know how to answer he brings up another celebrity and relates to them in some crazy vague answer.. Marc Bolan is my rockfather.

  • I DONT THINK ILL LIVE THAT LONG- PROPHETIC WORDS. INCREDIBLE

  • i will always love you marc

  • This interview is very interesting...He keeps the interviewer hopping...and nervous...He is very cool :)

  • Whatever "it" is, Marc had it in spades. Intelligence, charisma, talent. He did an amazing amount of work in his short life; almost like he knew he didn't have much time. God bless you, Marc.

  • thanks

  • Marc saw hsi own death coming and Bon Scott was told by a foresight lady that he would die young... weird shit

  • Mr Marc Bolan which tragic loss for the music world. He was charismatic, cool, beautiful, smart and a good entertainer and musician.

  • Chilling..........Eternal legend.......

  • it was interesting to see him play gigs - back in the early 70's Boland was the king of british rock - his death was such a tragic loss - he has so much more to do and give -

  • an articulate pop star, now a rare or extinct species?

Kan ye imagine a Kanye in this same situation and even expect actual sentences out of him? Let alone an intelligent defense, I doubt it.

Marc was smart and self aware, self invented. There's always at least one around. . .

  • Does anybody know which year was this interview from??

  • @turkishpower08 It was broadcast on 23th July 1972

  • Epic

  • Marc would have been the same with or with out fame....a true artist. Do I feel priveledged? "At what?" HA! As if the money made the man!

Definitely keeping Marc in my heart!

  • Marc would have been the same with or with out fame....a true artist. Do I feel priveledged? "At what?" HA! Definitely keeping Marc in my heart!

  • Marc would have been the same with or with out fame....

  • he so cute XD

but its like he knew he was gonna go early...

    Love you Marc...

  • love his smile....

  • I loved this interview apart from the part about the money. He totally didn't understand how he was in a privelleged position financially! That was quite embarrasing

  • How was he privileged by money? He had worked hard in music his whole life and was subject unfortunately to the same laws of nature as everyone else. He was tho' a unique and visionary poet/musician in a very ancient tradition which is hardly a privilege. He asked Harty to define his expectation of his/Bolans role which quite embarrassingly Harty, hardly Marc's intellectual match was unable to do. The Royal Family and their ilk are privileged by money, they did not have to work for it. Marc did.

  • shame that Marc had gone too young aged just aged of 29 .. BUT overall his music lives on to this day!!

  • My heart dropped at his comment near the end. Oh god.

  • I had the pleasure of meeting Marc in Philadelphia in 73. A truly nice, charismatic, magnetic personality and nice guy. He would give you a two-handed handshake and look right in your eyes. He is missed.

  • @mjr7801 I wasn't born till 1988 I missed taking into acount that my teends were in the 2000's

  • There's never been anyone like Marc Bolan since. When Marc is asked how do you think you'll be in 20 or 30 years time. Look at his expression. He' s absolutely serious when he says he doesn't think he'll live that long. Sadly it was all too true. Marc Bolan - Singer - Musician - Poet.......STAR.

  • Forever 29 and always #1

  • RIP Marc

  • hes so amazing! hes really hot and he has the cutest voice ;)

  • luuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuv

  • I can't close it 'cos he is too cute

    I'm in love

  • HE WAS CUTE xd

  • i live one street away from where he died. the memorial always has flowers on it

  • The guy in the pink shirt has got a very cool story to tell in the pub. That he actually had dialogue with Marc Bolan. Can't be topped man.

  • I miss him sooooooooo much all the good ones gone for no reason at all, and when he said he doesn't think he will live to 50 I near passed out. I hope Johnny Depp does his life story they look so much alike I even see a little of MJ in him too it's uncanny when you analyze the his features, and hair. God Bless you Marc you are so loved and never forgotten. L.O.V.E

  • Sex and Drugs and Rock `N´ Roll!!

  • thanks for your contribution Marc - rest in peace

  • marc was good t rex had g8 songs shame i was'nt born i love to been around in his heyday

  • Wen Was This First Broadcasted? x

  • Very deep, Marc was a very intellegent person, and not like these days people get in to the business to just make money and get famous, Marc didn't, he did it because it was his Art :)

  • He'll always be a star,he left us with his unique style and music, thanks Mark!

  • maybe Marc Bolan just knew what he was here for

  • @shinznay he died in a car crash 2 weeks before his 30th birthday he said he was never gonna live till 30 and had a fear of driving due to thinking he was going to die so he never learnt to drive ... some people just have a sense i believe he knew !!

  • 'i wont live that long' that have me goospumps.. he was a cool cat though.. gorgass!

  • he knew....I wish we had more time with him....

  • @bondboy104 you said he knew he was going to die? i dont know the full story of his death.. did he commit suicide?

  • @shinznay He was killed in a tragic auto accident in 1977, his girlfriend was driving because he did not want to learn how to drive, to prevent an early death. His fears were true, He knew...

  • the last part gave me goosebumps... I think people as creative as marc know when their time is about to come subconsciously, example hendrix

  • @skateboarding118

God I could swear that question hit him hard, I'm sure Marc knew, like a psychic, that he'd not live too long a life.

  • That's always amazed me about Marc Bolan. The knowing he wouldn't live that long. Fantastic artist. Doing it for all the right reasons. Personal gain as far as self satisfaction goes and not for the fame or money. Brilliant interview and magnetic.

  • Marc is still fantastic!!!!!!!!! we all love Marc Bolan forever.

  • Wow, that last part is chilling. He's amazing.

  • fuck i wanna be that guy in the audience who had a convo with marc bolan:)

  • He is so darn cuuuute!!! haha!!

  • Beautiful~!!!!!

  • He's very pretty, lovely eyelashes.

  • Last night I had a dream that Marc was living anonymously... why wouldn't he?

  • I cant express how much I LOVE THIS INTERVIEW thank u whoever uploaded it.

  • I'm just glad the public library in my town has Electric Warrior ,which got me hooked on everything Marc & T.Rex ever did! What would the world without his original & amazing sound?

  • why did he think he's not gonna live that long?

  • @thatappletree He knew, He just knew. Dreams and his songs also told a story. live b4 30. Love you marc!!!

  • really great i watched the whole thing its nice to see quality musicians talk about their work i live outside of the united states or london or anywhere cool so its great for me to be able to get creative with stuff like this

  • Marc Bolan was one of the greatest artists this country has ever produced. If not the best.

  • His smile is a little creepy.. but that makes it all the more SMEXI<3

    LOVE 2:14 =)

  • Ugh, makes my stomach hurt when the subject of his living to be 50 or 60 comes up. Truly a legend, gone too soon and not given nearly as much recognition as he's due.

  • Harty had a hard job taming Marc - he's taken charge of the interview from the start. Bolan knew his literature.

  • the last thing he says... how poignant.

  • I remember my mum playing "solid gold easy action" when i was about 3,what a beautiful man, wish i'd met him

  • "I don't think I'd live that long" That moment... Ah... Why? :___ I love him.

  • Cutie pie

  • I can't figure out why those idiot RocknRoll Hall of Fame people have inducted mediocre hacks like Jackson Browne but not giants like T.Rex. (to name one in a very long list)

  • zimzum915. I agree 100%. Marc Bolan(T-Rex) influenced so many rock and rollers. One thing about T-Rex(Marc) is that they(he) didn't get popular in the states till after his death in 1977. What a shame. He was huge in Britain. Without a doubt Marc Bolan(T-Rex) should be in the rock and roll hall of fame.

  • @maximum1954 In high-school '73/'74 Electric Warrior and Slider were some of our favorite albums. Small town in Florida! Miss Marc!

  • @TampaDrLove Yes, I always come back to those albums, crank them up and let them rip. Michigan.

  • @maximum1954 They were pretty big here in the US after the release of Get It On. That was THE party song of the early 70's in my neighborhood.

  • I couldn't agree more. What is up with that?

  • what a cool man . My older brothers were really into Marc thats where i met him

  • Love you forever Marc. R.I.P. brother.

  • my old man saw t rex 3 times, well jealous ¬¬

marc bolan was a proper legend possibly THE coolest guy who ever lived

  • I saw this interview for the first time 3 months ago.. i hadn't seen it for like 2 months so, I decided to watch it today and I got the same freaky feelings I had the first time I saw Bolan's face when he was asked about his later years..he knew it was coming, I wish he had never died. I love you Marc.. I always remember to keep a little Marc in my heart :')♥

  • @nayen96 ...that is the exactly same feeling I got to when I first saw this interview.... He KNEW it all along!!! :( R.I.P we love you!!!!!!!

  • @nayen96 wow 1st time i seen this ...always thought russel harty was ok now hes a nob and the way marc bolan reacted to that question at the end well gave me gooseies

  • @nayen96 Don't you think it was more a reaction to the thought of getting old ? I was like that when I was in my 20s. The thought of being say 60 never occured to me and when it did it used to send a shiver down my spine.

  • @marcN19 Well i guess it could've been that way, i don't know, I'm 14 I've never stopped for a second to think if I'll ever make it past tomorrow, I just believe he knew it was coming, some times you just feel it and it's a horrific thought I guess I saw that on his facial expression, the horror of not making it past your 30s, but I think your reasoning is very clever.

  • @nayen96 Wait till you are in your 20s and living life to the full.... trust me on this you don't ever think you are going to get old. It's like the immortal line from My Generation by The Who, "I would rather die than get old". I don't want to belittle Marc in any way, being that he was a musical genius, but he was very vain. Which is very fitting with him not wanting to get old.... and he did live life in the fast lane.

  • Aww. I love you Marc :) He's so adorable. He's so hot too.! Too bad he passed away. MARC BOLAN FOREVER!!!! <3

  • There's a really good radio interview with him on my Electric Warrior extended version CD. I wish someone would post it on youtube!

There is also another one on the Born to Boogie CD (yes, I said CD, not dvd!), where he mentions that he has joked about certain things like comparing himself to Led Zep,etc, and the newspapers would print them as if he was serious.

Once again, I have to comment on how great his smile is in this video! I love it!
