Why Rubiks Icons are harder.

Also under certain conditions the silver turns white when the light reflects off of it just right

Yeah I just got an Icon at Barnes and Nobles and I couldn't tell the colors AT ALL!!

I guess this is why!

The only good thing to do with a Rubik's Icon: Load it with petroleum jelly (vaseline) wait a month, clean it out, lube it with Silicone spray, resticker it, and it becomes a speedcube.

that was the first cube i got...which sucks...in mine you can hear the springs moving...a boy should not get an icon cube for his first cube!

it happens to new cubes so you should lube with silicon right under the center piece

I times were in the 30s when I usually average 15s with the regular cube. Disappointing to me at first, but when I realized that this happens to everyone, I was pretty proud. Took me a month to learn how to do it blindfold. The light grey and dark grey, you can hardly tell the difference!

icon cubes are like normal cubes with a cubesmith or other sticker type that's grayscale, right?

you forgot how the reflective side reflects the colors so if ur in a white room it looks like the white side and if ur in a darker room it looks like its a blackish color

lol :) i remember my icon. that was the first cube i got and seriously like tried- i learned on one of those suckers, and got down to like 41 seconds, with the lbl 'dan brown' method haha. rockin. but it broke.... so i got a new set of greyscale stickers from cubesmith- but i also got like a red/orange version of the icon, and its madd hard- thats what i have on my (actual) rubiks cube right now.

but i love cubesmith stickers, real good investment :)

If you do decide to buy a Type D, from Cube4You, get an orange or green one, they changed the white and black ones. they have a different core and springs, and lock up like crazy.
