  • In britain, its called Cotton wool, he hasnt made a mistake

  • I think you have a well thought out kit . As for the remark about the can opener > " there are no tins in the wilderness " ...not all survival and escape scenarios will be in the wilderness . That can opener also works great as a small screwdriver and a wire stripper . Nice not to see a condom . An oven roaster bag carries more water than a condom and can be heated to purify water . Thanks for an interesting video WC .

  • You should have a tampon because you can use it as an alternative to kinderling

  • Just put a Victorinox Huntsman in it, it has 2 blades, saw, scissors, can opener etc. all the stuff you need instead of little tiny cheap american pieces

  • You will punch yourself if you are ever lost in the woods and have a sewing kit. Along with the buttons you waste precious space. Water purification tablets GREAT IDEA! Mirror good idea. I have a GOOD mirror polished knife instead. Keep in mind everything that has two purposes is one less thing you need to take with you. Knowledge is most valuable. Know how to get food and be prepared to make fires in the rain. Compact foil emergency blankets are great. Something for infections is a necessity.

  • Why did you miniaturize the tea candle. There so small and weightless to begin with. Just curious, awesome video!

  • Well done! I think the contents are well thought out. you've motivated me to build my own to fit in a soap holder

  • Buttons, cos the last thing you wanna look like in a survival situation is a tramp!

  • @TheAmazingLarryKoopa it stands for Special Air Service

  • i forget what SAS means

  • pretty good kit ..but the pocket knife looks like one u get at the dollar store not saying its crappy or anything since knives may be a little diffrent where you are at...but I HATE cheap flimsy knives with a PASSION.

  • Add some Unlubricated Condoms. they can hold a liter of water easily which is what you need for most water purification tabs. also if you get ones that are clear you can leave them full of water in the sun for a day and the ultraviolet light will kill the cooties in 6 hours of full sun or after 2 days of partial sun with no boiling or tabs.

  • very good kit friend keep up the good work!

  • Nice kit! You could also add a tiny flashlight to your survival tin. In your jacket sleeve pocket... place a small emergency blanket. Boy Scouts Motto... "Be Prepared".

  • My friend great kit I like it because its full of dirt and rust... check out my version of the sas survival kit...

  • I would get a condom in there... it's always useful

  • I carry a similar kit but mine includes a lava lamp, Bisto gravy granules, Bob Martins worm tablets & a cement mixer.

  • @whitbyjet65 hahaha

  • @567hook wire saws can be used in making a shelter or cutting firewood use common sence wen, will u ever need a survival kit its the same thing with a wire saw wen u need it u dont have it so pack it!

  • YOU DIDN'T PACK ANY CONDOMS like this if you would pack condoms LOL

  • Everybody puts a wire saw in the kit. When would you really need it.Ive never had to use a saw, or wire saw while camping. Seems like a item everybody adds, but will never really be needed. Good Vid.

  • @todster123451 consider the survival tin was sas orintated so a tin opener would be used for rations, however now rations are in packs but its better to be safe then sorry right?

  • steel wool can be used to start a fire using a battery of any kind including from your mobile phone.

  • that is far to much stuff! you took a can opener, there are no cans of food just lying about in the wilderness1

  • @todster123451, how can anything so small be "too much" as long it could be helpful in a Survival situation and just incase you still can't work out why you may need a tin opener, heres an example - you may have a rucksack on you, or in your car with tins of food in it for a survival situation, hence you'd need a tin opener. theres nothing wrong with carrying a tin opener the size of a coin, its not going to weigh you down or get in your way. and if you have no tins it still may come in handy,

  • @todster123451 it could be an urban environment who says it has to be in the woods?

  • @todster123451 what about on the plane/ boat crashed? sometimes there are cans in the wilderness.

  • This is the best survival kit in a tin iv ever seen! Great vid i have watched it loads of times for refrence!

    Thx: thingyee1118

  • May I ask what the straw is for?

I'm making up my own tin, and just wondered what use the straw has.

    Good vid, good tin.

  • @TheChrisleabrown A straw could possibly be used to more easily give air to a fire.

  • I really liked your survival tin. I helped my daughters Girl Scout Unit make a similar kit & it's amazing what one can fit into the tin. As for cotton wool, who cares what you call it, I understood what you meant :) But then again, my IQ exceeds my shoe size by a lot, lol.

  • what are the buttons for? and if you have a fishing kit what are the saftey pins for? and the straw

  • what are the buttons for?

  • can i buy one from you

  • wth are life boat matches? other than that 5/5 kit !

  • @ANDYKilla1 life boat matches are water proof and win proof and the flame stays lit for a good 45 seconds so even when its pissing rain its going to stay lit, at least til you start your fire of course

  • A very well thought out kit. You cover all the essentials and everything is functional great little kit !!

  • wow,, you really meant SMALL mirror haha

  • Good video mate...

  • What's the name of the song.

  • Hi,

Great video and nice set up. Do you have an idea where to find a list of the SAS IFAK and Trauma kit? Cheers mate.

  • Condom water carrier

  • Yes add a condom in there it can hold up to 1litre of water. In my Surivial tin, this might sound daft, but I carry a spare mobile phone (cell phone) battery. My phone battery is very thin and small and fits nicely without me taking out anything. I make sure it charged before I go on any mountain. I didn't see salt in your video. I always carry a small bag of salt, sweat and urine takes salt from the body and I don't want to be stuck somewhere with crippeling leg cramps. Great video tho :)

  • I agree throw in a condom it can be used to carry water like a water bladder

  • u forgot the condom

  • can i buy

  • id keep a knife with a more quality blade/(knife) a carbon blade is softer and can be struck for sparks also

  • any one notice tjhis?? "cotton wool"...... two seperate things

  • @pisspot7 ,Sorry Robert, I have no idea what your question is about., what do you mean?

    Mike.

  • @WeaponCollector you said "cotton wool" at 0:47 for easy tinder. cotton and wool are 2 different things cotton is a pland and wool is sheep hair. im not sure if it was a typo or not

  • @pisspot7 , This must be a Cultural / Country thing, In England we call that white fluffy stuff "Cotton Wool", go to google and search it, its used for cleaning wounds, removing make-up etc.

Its called "Cotton Wool", so therefore I use the name "Cotton Wool" in my video.

I don't understand why I'm getting all the comments about it ?

    Mike.

  • @WeaponCollector nothing wrong with 'cotton wool' because there's 'sheep's wool'. Both are wool from different sources.

  • @WeaponCollector btw, there's also something called 'steel wool' for scrubbing and 'hair wool' (human hair made into a wool) for i'm not sure what really.

  • @WeaponCollector im pretty sure its called cotton wool in most parts of the english speaking world. Im from england but live in a far away distant land and its still called the same thing

  • @WeaponCollector im pretty sure its called cotton wool in most parts of the english speaking world. Im from england but live in a far away distant land and its still called the same thing

  • @pisspot7 anyone notice that "any one" is two seperate things............ tjhis??

  • You should have a hot glue cartridge in there. The sticks people put in a glue gun. To repair things or adhere things quickly and easily. All you need is a lighter to melt it.

  • Gr8 kit m8 some suggestions: condoms for storing water in and dihydralite to rehydrate you

  • nice survival tin.i put one together recently, its no easy task getting all this stuff into a 2oz tobacco tin.i managed tho and after sealing it round the lid with insulation tape i then wrapped the tin in 550 cord,i know its harder to get to the contents but theres nothing in there that i dont have around the house so i intend to keep it sealed until an emergency comes up,maybe change the meds once a year tho and a quick inspection of sertain items..

  • good vid ...keep the knowledge flowing. peace and power to the people.

  • Condoms are a good item to have also. You never know, if a man should get traped where a large population of woman are and you soon discover that you are the only man there! Thank about it, you never know where you could be traped. Ya!

  • @XIXownageXIX , lol, its not for shaving, lol, it for cutting things

  • Comment removed

  • Very nice kit... mate...

  • @XIXownageXIX idiot haha

  • @XIXownageXIX lol fail

  • @XIXownageXIX to skin fishes

    dur

  • fake.

  • @aussersein what?

  • Comment removed

  • you may be able to put an emegency blanket in there. it reflects your body heat. i like to think of a tin being called the "the one day survival kit" or "pocket survival kit" PSK and backpack as EDC or "every day carry". if backpack is gone then the tin will help.

  • lucky brits we amaricans are stuck with altoid tins

  • @Martiansiphone we have to work with what is in front of us that is what survival is all about

  • @bigd5000100 heh i guess

  • I carry my backpack in my tin. I also have in my tin a Military shovel, a machete, two sleeping bags, A two person tent, and a five pound bag of rice.

  • The piece of hacksaw reminds me of fallout 3

  • a hack saw is a great idea, but add a hole on the other side too. that way you can tie paracord sections on each end to grab when cutting.

  • in a survival situation, assuming everyone wears shoes, you can always use your shoe strings.

  • Part three.

If you bend the ends of your tweezers in at an angle, they will also be able to be used for removing tics.

The mirror can be ditched..use the tin lid.

The razor blades (which are sterile) are much easier to use than the stanley (craft) blades you have, as a they have a thick ridge on the back.

I really liked the fact that you had something wrapped in a tobacco ouch....inside of a tobacco tin lol.

A good kit, and much better than most of the stupidly large ones on youtube :)

  • Part two lol.

The boot lace could be replaced with '2mm dyneema' this is much stronger, and takes up less room. it is stronger than para cord too.

Keep your tea light candles original size, as they can be used for light (obviously lol). cooking in the tin, and repeated fire lighting, as well as sterilising your needles for first aid use etc. If you cut the wick shorter on the candle, it will last longer.

  • Can i just make a few observations, based on some things i have learned in having made these kits for many years.

You would not need that many buttons. If you were out for that long, you could make your own with the knife.

I know the hacksaw is removed, but there was already one with your striker flint.

It is better not to have anything stuck on the inside of the lid, as you cannot then use it for a helio graph, or as a lid when cooking in the tin.

  • usually SAS personal carry a tampon for tinder..

  • Nice how you put the striker on outside. I've seen people put the striker right in with the matches and they ignite. It should at least be taped face-against the inside of the tin for safety. I agree with putting personal details in your kit if you're not military. It's a good spot for an "ICE" card with your name, address, contact phone numbers, and a list of any medications you take. I also keep some emergency cash and spare key in my small kit, which has helping more than anything.

  • "Cotton wool in sealed bag (used of easy tinder)". So... You go to easy way? Hm :\ ! Don't you know that in any of forest, you can find a hub [mushroom] at fallen fragile and sligtly wet tree??

  • how do you get the fishing line off with out it being springey iv use a flat bit of card or plastic so the coils are not to thight. ps the saw are rubbish iv used them and thay let me down time after time how do you fined useing yours

  • whats the name of this song on ur vid of sas survival tin

  • I have a question about your "flint and striker". You create a flint from a key and 'something else'(!) fix in it. What kind of key you used to build it (I see that this key is old) and what is the key hold IN his ^folded arms^ (2:28) :D

  • @sandor139 its not a key its just a different flint and striker i have seen them before i prefer the army issue ones

    Ryan

  • @Ryanfurse. Ahaaa...! So, this is not a key!? Then what??? I see this is a metal (2:28)! I wan't to know what kind of metal for flint" he used (2.28)? May be you know, Rayfurse.

  • @sandor139 if i have understood you right, the flint is normally made of a material with the symbol of Mg commonly known as Magnesium.

    hope that helped

L/Cpl Furse of Cornwall Army cadet force

  • @sandor139

Hi Sandor. If you have not had a reply, the thing that looks like a key is a rod of flint like material that is held in a 'half tube' to stop it cracking when used. You run the mini hacksaw down the flint to produce sparks. if you use the saw edge it makes more sparks, and less on the smooth side (to save wasting the flint). Obviously you can use the saw for sawing too, and it also has a blade on the angled front end, which is fairly sharp, and also good for digging holes into wood.

  • @sandor139

Hi again Sandor. These things are available to buy in many shops, but are now often replaced by the light my fire fire steels. But, these ones are very small and light, and work very well, so are perfect for a survival kit. The only thing i change on them is that I make the string longer. This makes them easy to use, and easier to saw with. I also use very bright coloured string, so to make it easier to find if I were to drop it. Red and silver reflective works well.

  • Buttons??? What for? You made it from a wood in forest, you know.

  • water vial

  • @TheGourmanMovieCo and bruce lee ^^

  • good kit =P ive seen quite a few of these vids and this is one of the best ones =P

  • Nice pack, but how do you get painkillers without recept from the doctor?

  • damn man that was really good. i cant think of a situation you could be in and not have everything you would need

  • Good vidio

  • What is the music? Thanks.

  • damn mike if you ever get lost in the wild alone youll be set nice vid

  • I pretty much got all that but no Flint and striker wer can I get 1??

  • i second the condoms. water carrier, protection and you could start a fire with it. just add water and use just like a magnifying glass. i think my tin is much smaller. the size of altoids tin. ohh add a piece of a pencil.

  • anyone know where i can get a flint and striker? nice vid bro.

  • I would nitro-glycerin tablets.

  • @TheGourmanMovieCo well mine would have Bear Grylls in it

  • Add a pack of Tootsie Rolls or other non-melting candy if you can for a small food supply or one of those soup cubes and tin foil. And maybe a water filter that the straw will work with.

  • Looks like you got everything covered, I would personallyadda condom. ;)

  • its probably been said but maybe a multitool could be a good edition.

  • Thats the basic stuff you get in the rations in the army now cuz i get them im in the army cadet force in england.

  • I like the morse code on the lid. Never thought of that.

  • fill your tin with your fav kind of chocolate and your pistol with 1 clip in it, before you die, enjoy the fuck out of your food, then kill as many enemy's as u can, with last bullet, kill yourself.

  • great survival tin

never know when you might need it

    cheers

  • i like the idea mentioned in the sas manual where the inside of the metal tin is polished to be an ad-hoc heliograph, the use of tape to make the box water-proof and the (edible) tallow candle.

but i think you forgot the potassium permanganate, butterfly sutures, scalpels and most importantly: the CONDOM!

do u have the survival kit aswell as the tin?

  • i got the exact same knife

we have so much in common

    were practically twins

  • I got lortabs in my survival kit.

  • in mw2 its a tactical knife (throwing knife )

  • only problem with strike anywhere matches is if you have to run the friction can make them explode into flames in your pocket.

  • change that whistle for one with no 'pea'

  • morse codes are obsolete.

  • morse code can be used if u cant speak idiot

  • @nipzilla lol, morse code will NEVER be "obsolete". It's still used to this day. S.O.S ring a bell? Written or not, it's still morse code.

  • Thanks, nice video, good music and nice kit set up. Wish you to not ever use it.

  • wats the knife in mw2 called

  • i think its a ka bar

  • just wondering why an sas survival tin need's the owners personal details on the lid of the tin because the main time these would be used is when something happens causing them to have no kit!! for example an escape and evasion situation. wouldnt this lead the "enemy" or persons you are attempting to evade straight to ure doorstep?

  • The sas don't do this Thats my own addition to the tin, NOT a sas technique, if i died or got badly hurt and was then found they could identify my body and contact my family.

    thats why its there.

  • @WeaponCollector

If your in ANY SPECIAL FORCES - you can not have anything that may identify the origin of what nation you are from nor personal identification beyond your given dog tag #.

  • @mizu345 , I'm NOT in any special forces, I'm just a ordinary civilian, therefore i can have my details on the tin.

  • @mizu345 plus, if your american, anyone can identify you so easily!

  • @mizu345 Well De Opresso Liber Mizu! I guess you must be a bad ass SF operator then. The point of this video was to outline the contents of the SAS Survival TIn and specified in the manual written by John Wiseman. The poster of this video never specified any military experience, he was merely siting the source. Maybe if you and the others who made similar content would STFU and pay attention, you might learn something! GOOD VIDEO WEAPON COLLECTOR

  • @WeaponCollector

it doesnt matter if you die you die, many people who die in the line of serving in special forces are told to their familys they died in a different unit @ a different location.

  • excellent post

  • This music makes me want to go club hoppin

  • Replace those rubber bands with "ranger" bands and you just upgraded my friend.

  • I would add a large square of heavy gauge aluminum foil (folded small) and some duct tape...unless those were already there and I missed it.

  • I tried using a similar wire saw to that a couple weekends ago, the saw kept jamming, so I used extra force and then one of the loops opened up(bent open/broke) so now I've got a 'pocket chain saw' on the way in the mail right now which is what we all really wanted instead of those flimsy gimmick wire saws. They would probably be ok if you use them in a bow saw setup, but good luck trying to find a suitable green sapling to bend(not snap) into a bow formation in a real survival situation:/

  • I only bothered to watch one youtube review of a wire saw, and it snapped on the guy, never bothered looking at any others, particularly after every youtube review I've seen of the 'pocket chain saw' can't rate it highly enough

  • whats song name ?

  • sorry mate, i'm not sure, its a youtube Audio swap song, a pop-up should apear saying what the song is, but for some reason on this video its not there, if i ever find out i'll add the song name to a annotation and in the more info section.

  • oh allright , thanks! , and nice video :D

  • @asiansinsation3 Song - The Dive (Pno Remix), Momu

  • My suggestions would be: a little torch, condoms (as mentioned earlier) and perhaps some loose nails (trigger mechanism for traps, arrow-heads, etc.). Otherwise nicely done!

  • Really Really nice men.. Also I love the book. Thx men!!

  • a new thing I have seen lately is an addition of a small sponge to absorb dew or small pockets of water in tree limbs or crevices i see you have a straw for the later but I thought the sponge is a great idea

  • hey is a zippo with some spare flints better than a flint set u reckon??

  • how did you make that flint and steel?

  • I bought it mate.

  • You've got it pretty well covered, the only thing that I would add would be a chest wound dressing, scalpel, couple of face masks, small watch & a small torch or beacon (runs on a AAA or smaller).

In general first aid kits, its simply a case of what can you afford but your kit is spot on as I said but I would want a few extras as stated.

  • i have a magnesium "flint" but the stiker that comes with it is kinda redundant as u could use ur knife to strike and a small amount of hand sanitizer (a small container the size of a 2-liter coca cola bottlecap liek the 1 u get for free samples in cosmetics stores) because its good to prevent infection in case u get cut or such

plus u wint need the "sewing machine just a ndeelde or 2 and the spool is enough and earplugs

  • Condoms are a must have (water carriers)

  • dont put in anything with rust if it gets in you you will die

  • A good kit. you need batterfly closure plasters & oil that saw blade. To me your kit will be a treasures in heaven when you really need to use it.

  • Thanks, i'm glad yo liked the kit.

  • Well, i bet they are English but many people over there can't type & misspells over there. Don't patronize British people. many They taught you english in fast place. Americans are very Anal about spellings but what their writings on internets or books are ridiculous sometimes. so Americans & british are almost even to me. if you don't understand what people talking maybe you should use your tiny d!ck brains a little! LMAO!

  • toss the whistle, its bulky and takes up too much space. if you ever need to whistle for anybody, use an accorn top.

  • if your ever in a "survival" situation and that is what your depending on your dead.

  • I don't think so mate, This tin would help alot, much more better have this tin then nothing,

  • Yep its a good set. You may be dead if you are brain dead and helpless, but I could use what is in the tin pretty well.

  • in fact that is more than enught to survive apon . the flint will last monthes all you have to do is get water an food to survive pluss a litle know how

  • dude what song is that its nice

  • Sorry mate, i have no idea, it was from youtubes own music, and for some reason theres no ad to say what it is.

    Mike

  • i would add a tablet of potassium chloride in case i have to kill myself without any pain.

  • im likeing that idea lol

  • Nice kit I wish I could get a hold of one of those tins but all I can find are altoid cans there alright but I need a bit more space

  • you can buy a ready made tin on the internet like ebay all you have to do is add things that willsouit your climit and earia where u are most likly to be relying apon it

  • Fucking HORRIBLE use of english spelling there.

Sorry if you are not an english native speaker/ typer.

  • you could breath thru it if you had to hid underwater i guess

  • nice tin u did alot of stuff i dont think was in the SAS survival handbook (i have the newest version) such as the morse code and stuff. i would just add a few more medicines that were mentioned in the handbook (at least in mine i dont know what version you have) and a beta light. oh and i would recommend that the candle be made out of tallow because tallow is edible and can be used for frying but paraffin wax is inedible. but beware tho tallow doesnt store well esp in hot temperatures.

  • cool knife where did u get that from and how much!

  • COOL

  • i would add a little led light

  • great thanks great advice . but do you need razor blades and stanley blades?

  • Nice kit, my mini kit is pretty much the same, except i waterproofed the matches with some parafin wax and put them in a waterproof container, i also soaked the cotten wool in petroleum jelly as this improves the tinder further, specially for damp condtions, and instead of using elastic bans round the tin i wrapped mine with Para chord(7 inner strand stuff)

  • A small straw is very useful, especially for drinking water from small areas such as crevices in rocks and other hard to reach places, I would only reccomend doing this with proven clean wter though!! They also assist in fire making as jtankte noted below, using it as a make shift bellows.

  • Cool I wonderd what to put in survival kit

    I also subscibed
