  • It looks like Les is actually enjoying himself.

  • The parts where the audience actually shouts "I DO!" and "ME!" are fucking magical. Les Claypool is already a beast and so is the rest of the band, but when the audience is as much involved as a Queen concert or the likes, it's perfection.

  • I am not worthy.

  • wow...been 5 years and this still brings chills down my spine even tho im not there!!!!

  • Never thought I'd say it, but he's kind of sexy...love the way he talks :)

  • saw a version of this on the 2005 jammies award show. a great jam and les has some of the best bass chops around. love the headwear!

  • Bad Ass!, nothing more to say

  • dude needs his saxaphone turned up a bit more.

  • they should record and sell a collab of more live shows. That would be quite yummy.

  • @marcushelbling they do sell live shows at the web site. all of les' side stuff. check it out.

  • @jffbck1 I know this. I have most of what they released. But I'm just saying they need more.

  • yes..... the beast of doom and sodomy.

  • Haha these guys have dropped way too much acid for their own good lol

  • Gabby Lala fuckin made me wig out at this show

  • the "pool"

  • I can play a little bass.

Playing it OK is easy, playing it well is HARD.

Les, do what you do, the bass requires attention.

    Anyone feeling me?

Rock is cheesy now, it's lazy bass that does much of it.

    RnR needs growth, not marketing.

(for reference, i play rhythm guitar)

  • @JayGOS117

I agree. Bass is often used lazily as an instrument. I, for one, am constantly trying to develop my skill on it, usually by playing Les' songs. I'm not really good enough to play his stuff well, but I'll get there in years to come. Bass seems like a limited instrument, but people like Les demonstrate otherwise. Many of us need to realise its full potential.

  • @HugelyBig Even in orchestral music, the basses get the dopey, slow parts. I understand in an orchestra that's the bass position--like a skeleton for the other instruments to play off of, but god damn it, I wish we'd get to play something challenging once in a while. On the electric bass it's much the same way. It's why I don't compare bassists like Les, Flea, Geddy or Graham. It seems useless, because they're all essentially doing the same thing; showing what the bass is capable of.

  • les is the best

  • he did a tour with her, how awesome. and she's sexy..yah girlz

this is the last song he played at coachella 2010. I don't think I've ever danced so hard in my life.

  • god i want to go to a les concert, if not that at least primus.

  • you got a better shot at going to a les concert. Primus hardly ever does shows anymore....id sell my left nut for a primus concert ticket though

  • Hell, I'd give 'em both of mine, for one opportunity to see Herb, Ler and Les play together.

  • @sociopathix Going to Red Rocks Show in Aug. 12 2010 4th Primus Show!!!

  • @sociopathix hehehe, just checking some Les. Hows it dude. : )

  • @JayGOS117 lol whats up?

  • @sociopathix im going to see primus a the gathering of the vibes 7/31/10

  • @sgorthy Im more jealous then you could possibly understand lol. I wish they were coming near the east coast of canada. /sigh.

  • @sgorthy oh, and i wrote that comment before Les announced the current primus tour so i didnt have any idea they were planning on doing a tour with lane.

  • so damn funky!!!

  • 1:29-1:32

  • Is that gabby lala on sitar?

  • no it is Yagahitsu Nagahaki

  • actually it is gabby lang aka gabby la la

  • @redtape420 I would bet you one hundred dollars that that is Gabby Lala. Do a google image search of Gabby La la, then one of Hitori Miamoto.

  • @redtape420

    It's Gabby Lala.

  • @HugelyBig No it is Mitsuhatchi Keebagamo

  • @redtape420 racism

  • @redtape420 LMAO!

  • @redtape420 Sometimes I get tired of your sense of humor, but at the same time I love it.

  • @QuestionMarxComedy gabby la la needs a dose of the aids

  • yes that is gabby lala, i dont know who the f*** he is talking about.

  • i just saw him with the fungi and foe band, and he played d's. it was amazing, i screamed every "i do" and "me". it was better live than on record, probably just because of the energy

  • was it at the ventura theater? i was there man. and yeah it sounds a way better live!

  • no it was at h.o.b. in houston. i went outside and said hi to him after and the only thing that could come out of my mouth was great show and i love you! haha. but yeah its way better live, what songs did yall get? we got fisticuffs

  • same here man! i was pretty much speechless at the time! we got a buttload of frog brigade songs and up on the roof as an ender! i was going crazy when he played that

  • ya i just saw them tore this up at rothbury, it was was the most intense thing at 5 pm

  • who are the fungi and foe band?

  • The Fancy Band

  • are skerik and gaby la la still playing?

  • Skerik is but Gaby guest appears once in a while

  • paulo baldi mike dillon and whatever the cello players name is...i dont remember.

  • sam bass on the cello

  • les claypool puts on one hell of a concert! i love him live.

  • Cirris u mean the Sitar,

and serj, I got the same thing :P though Im from holland, I'll shout it with ya if he ever comes to europe :p

    I DOOOO!

  • I'd love to see that live, I wanna shout "I do" and "me"

Fuck man, too bad I live in Belgium

  • I love that instrument that Gabby plays. That thing is huge i wonder how she can carry that thing on her back for a whole concert. Gabby is the blue wigged girl, BTW.

  • That is a FAT bass line. That's like the perfect bass sound.

  • les is god

  • les can really walk a pretty fine bass line, he would not have been a bad jazz player.

  • Just to clear things up.

Les Claypool was NOT molested as a child.

    lawnkhan probably was.

Les even said in an interview that his childhood was quite decent.

  • soo i was kinda going backwards lookin at these comments but to make things perfectly clear. this song is about les's favorite diner which is located 10 min away from my house and les actually comes up with alot of his own instruments. he has someone make them but he makes them up..i kno this cuz hes a personal friend of mine an my dads. ive gone fishin with him and at his pond. so there. no confusion anymore? haa

  • you lucky bastard

  • damn his 6 string's neck is sooo damn thin for a 6 string O_O

  • no, Claypool is a giant, with giant hands, the neck looks a lot thinner than it is.

  • The giant-thing is true, but it stil IS quite thin actually.

Carl Thompson thinned it down to 2/3 of the former width.

  • enjoy the jams noobs!! stop bitching! LES FOREVER

  • dam right!!!!

  • :D..

  • Hey Redtape you should read BritaniaRuleAgain's comments. He is British and has a problem with fish and chips.

  • Hey Redtape, you should read lawnkhan's comments. He is Canadian and experiences moose gentitalia to the face; well, at least it's a girl moose... or so he thought.

  • I was at this one. Awesome show.

  • BritaniaRuleAgain is a low down, no good, Gabby Lala lover! He is also a monarchist and has dillusions about the United Kingdom regaining its super-power status in the world. This is a quote from BritaniaRuleAgain: "I hate Americans and their freedom and wish I could make everyone drink tea instead of beer."

  • No one "needs" to hear anything, that's the beauty of the comments page. Just because you have a thought or opinion on racism you don't go up to the fisrt minority in your town and give them a slur. You don't go up to your friend's mother and tell her that your bud got a speeding ticket. And you certainly don't have to tell youtubers that bendy straws are connotative to Les being child-moslested.

This song is for enjoyment and not for disturbing facts, and censorship doesn't justify it.

  • I thinnk you were the one that was touched on his pee-pee as a child.

  • I think your the one who enjoyed it.

  • Do you even know where "Britannia Rule Again" is from? Didn't your mother teach you how to use google? [I hate to castrate your anti Britaniaruleagain/tea drinking speach, since your such a partriot]

"Britannia Rule Again" is actually the exact opposite of what you described it. It's from Pink Floyd's The Wall, Waiting for The Worms. It's saying that the neo-nazi ideology the main chararcter had was wrong and he ends up destroying himself out of it.

By the way, I'm a proud American ;)

  • No real American would have the name "BritaniaRuleAgain". You are some sort of English spy. No one wants to hear your little cover story. We all know who you REALLY are...

...And you smell like fish and chips

  • Dude your not staying on topic here. Why has this argument shifted on my youtube name? Is is because you know your wrong?

  • What is there to be wrong about? Les was molested as a child. It is a fact. I read it in the autobiography of his parental guardian. The book is called "Why Wrenches and Carpets Still Matter" it was written by Ruth Coughlin. Try doing some reading before you try doing some typing.

  • I was saying that you were wrong about where I live and behave.

  • Lawnkhan-- you're full shit. I can't find this book anywhere, Amazon, Barnes and Noble...ect. Ruth coughlin is Romance Novelist.

  • It did not get picked up by a major publishing house so it could be rather hard to find. I myself found a copy at a local second hand book store. I just hope everyone can have that luck.

  • what is the name of the book

  • "Why Wrenches and Carpets Still Matter" by Ruth Coughlin. Not a book you will find in Oprah's book club!!

  • ya well i guess you know,,, but i see your point bendy straws are a hard topic ,,, very touchy

  • There is nothing bendy or straw like when it comes to the anal sex Les endured as a child. I would thank you not to make light of a very dark and troubling past.

  • I wish you'd stop. It's good song to listen to in the morning and you just go ruin it with your disturbing information, in which no one wants to read.

  • Disturbing as it may be, it is still something people NEED to hear. Whether they want to or not, whether they feel comfortable with it or not. You can not stop the future. You can only try to censor the voices of today.

  • It takes the kind of guts that BritaniaRuleAgain doesn't have.

  • Gabby makes the song sound happy. On the CD the song has a sad mood.

  • Went to D's this morning and got a breakfast burrito. Right when you walk inside to the left is a picture of Les on the wall and the lyrics to the song right next to it.

  • Now that's a story that should be published !

  • I agree fully with Schaede

  • who agress with Schaede? (I DO!)

  • who wants to agree with shaede? (ME!)

  • NAKED CLAMS!!!!!!!!!

    XD

  • Woot! haha you and i are on all of these claypool videos :D

  • i love his roman scroll bass!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Great bassline. Easy to play, not so easy to write.

  • Not easy to write? True, true. Then again, not everyone has a fretless 6 string bass at their disposal do they? Hehe. :P

  • Hah, more than just a fretless 6-string. Carl Thompson, made of rare wood and possessing a beastly 36" scale

  • Is it at all possible to buy either his 4 or 6 string bass? I know Ive seen the 5 string he uses in shake hands with beef on a website, but I don't know if I've ever seen his 4 or 6 string for sale. Anyone know anything?

  • Shake hands with Beef was played on a fretted 6-string with a reverse neck.

His Rainbow Bass is no longer up for sale.

Carl Thompson did do a few replicas but he doesn't anymore and the Rainbow bass replicas cost around $10,000 anyways (about £4500-£5500).

Carl Thompson has one bass up for sale now, a 4-string and it's $8500!

Needless to say, the basses are VERY expensive but some of the best builds in the world.

CT also invented the 6-string bass in the 70's y'know. :-)

  • THANKS

  • reverse neck:lol You need to re check your resource. It was a frettless 6 string that sat in carl closet. The neck was to narrow for carl but les liked it had fretted and the rest is history

  • Yeah I know that, Les Claypool plays em explusively so of course I know that, but if you get the neck diameters you'll find that it's also reversed, being bigger at the headstock.

  • Dude your wrong! I have spoken to Mike brown who worked at carls shop for 5 years. That bass is no different than any other. It has the same neck profile as every other bass. Just narrower string spacing thats it end of story

  • I DO!

  • Those Carl Thompsons are so awesome....when they break into the jazz riff at about 6:42, it really sounds like Les is playing an upright bass.

  • jimbo is a bitch and if i wer les claypool id jump down there n kick his ass lol

but les is friggin GOD on bass guitar and this song is just a small sample of what this man can do

    PRIMUS SUCKS :P

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMEN Claypool fan!

He's an inspiration and creative genius to all.

  • This is amazing. It's one the few jam bands you can dance to. I got the DVD the day I watched this.

  • what dvd is that? I didn't think there was a 2006 'roo

  • LES CLAYPOOL FANCY

  • one of the few jam bands u can dance to??

Ive never heard a jam band you can't dance to

  • in case people were wondering, jimbo is a guy that goes around and tapes claypool's shows because he is a total fucking loser.

  • I live in New York, but my friends and I have decided collectively that we will one day hop in a car, drive out west, and go down to D's!

  • sad to say this my friend, but the original d's diner in San Fransisco is closed. there is a remaining d's but not the original claypool is describing here

  • You are WAY WRONG OrganicElements! The D's Diner Les is singing about is in Sebastopol California right off the Gravenstein Highway. Listen to the first line of the song. Les lives in Occidental which is about a fifteen minute drive from D's. I go to D's all the time and there is a newspaper article on the wall describing Les's song about the diner.

  • I FUCKING KNEW IT!!!! take a picture man i want to see it!!!

  • oh man, is it really so important

  • sad to say this my friend, but the original d's diner in San Fransisco is closed. there is a remaining d's but not the original claypool is describing here

  • D's is fucking awesome diner "best damn breakfast burrito you can get anywhere anytime!"

  • i wonder if at dee's you can get anything you want like at Alice's restraunt.. odd comparison eh..

  • I hope everyone realizes how unbelieveably difficult it is to play a six-string FRETLESS bass. And sing. And do it as effortlessly as he does....

  • I DO!

  • the xylophone player is so amazing lol. on the fancy dvd he gets pretty nuts on his solos lol then les with his banjo bass hahaha nuts, Skerik man i really dont have to say how good he is just listen to him

  • which dvd?

  • Actually, he plays the vibraphone.

  • fuckin jimbos everywhere

  • whats a jimbo?

  • a redneck

  • I saw them a few months ago in Philly. Crowd surfing to my right and purple haze to my left.

  • les seems less active then when he was with primus

  • I live in the same town as les. I know the place he is talking about ... sure I'll go down to D's with ya Les.

  • lucky sonofabitch.

  • I like this one almost as much as I like the version from the Jammys with Frog Brigade. Les Claypool is a god among men.

  • I need to get a 6 string that sounds good...

  • talk to carl thompson.........better have about 10g's handy

  • I also recently caught these guys in Orlando . They are phenomenal ! The pit was continuous & crazy , & I was a big part of it ! Les is MORE !!

  • Yeah, I was there too! I didnt expect the crowd to mosh the pit! I got kicked in the head and the chest several times, nothing short of bad ass! House of Blues, right?

  • DEE OLE' "HOUSE OF BLUES" BE DA PLACE ! Even the security was cool(atleast , as cool as they could be).

  • yes!! I saw Les Claypool and his Fancy Band also. It was last Friday night. It was one of the best concerts I have seen. this was my favorite part of the night. <3 Les and all of his awesome projects
