  • CMIIW, radiohead is going to have concert in taiwan, which is governed by ROC, which destructed of most of Tibet's more than 6,000 monasteries and killed thousands of tibetan in 1959 -1961

  • Jonny is kind of Nervous and Appasionating talking so loud and holding his hair xD

  • so sick thom is dancing to one

  • i love this interview. Jonny seems really passionate about the topic.... and then theres Thom in his own little world haha

  • fuckin' Thom pay attention! hahah.

    i would have kissed Jonny.....haaaah..

  • instead of starting from a position of "free tibet" which even the dalai lama does not support (he wants true autonomy within china- like a one country, two systems, as hong kong has) we who live where bankers not only suppress us, but suppressed china in the past and helped make it what it is today, let's see the reality of global capitalism- tibet's people will never be free just from a few words on a paper. we arent, and china isnt. we are all serfs- free ourselves, tibet will follow our way.

  • china, like the usa, is a country with an idealistic founding ideal, which it simply does not live up to, but which many of its leaders continue to at least seem to believe in, in which they are supported by most of their people, who believe they mean well, despite their blatant hypocrisy. for instance, encoded in china's constitution is respect and equal rights for each of the 56 recognized cultural minorities in china, including tibetans (who live in many areas outside tibet proper).

  • Free Tibet, free China, free the US, the UK and all their fucking colonies, from the rich, the financial colonizers who live in every nation and make every war and torture in the name of freedom. True freedom for Tibet means understanding the west can't save them-we destroyed China, and now China is destroying them. Thank you Thom for not being a hypocrite, and making that economic connection. Now please play live in China, bring your message! It's in every song, something you don't need to say.

  • Anyone else think that Jonny looks and sounds a bit like Syd Barrett?

  • Definitive... I'm in love with Jonny :P

  • You can tell Jonny feels strongly about these things... he NEVER talks this much

  • wich songs are they playing in this video?

  • @metal0chaos i think its one love-U2,,but im not sure

  • i wanna get a jean jacket now

  • THOM ;__;

  • WHAT U2 SONG IS PLAYING IN THE BACKROUND?????

  • haha jonny is shouting :D quite rare for him

  • Damn, I would have loved to have gone to benifit. Born too late, yet again. Oh hey Thom & Jonny, nice hair Jon-Jon XD

  • hahaha, what Thom is doing is what happens when I'm listening to Radiohead and someone is talking to me or around me :)

  • I miss young Radiohead...

  • What are you talking about Thom

you are way better than U2

  • Ah, Jonny gone Chomsky! =)

  • in a thimilar way

  • Voodoo Economics!!!

  • Jonny's so well educated and smart, bless him.

  • jonnys hair looks so silky ! <3 *FANGIRL*

  • Issues he pointed out about the American media have greatly changed since the time of this interview. With the advent of social media and the internet, young Americans have been very forward thinking in how they view and use the world's information. Jonny had a good point at the time, but this perception is now outdated.

  • sounds like Electioneering.

  • Ha ha ha! I love this!

2:55 The alien voices are invading Jonny's brain!!!!!!!

  • U2 makes good music but their poser, swagger, showy, insincere, deushy arrogance (mostly by Bono and "The Edge" as well) has really pissed me off over the last 10 years or so. Radiohead at very least makes an attempt at being humble.

  • Comment removed

  • Haha Thom dancing and singing on u2 while Jonny is interviewed!

  • Dude I just love how tom is grooving to the music while jonny is getting an interveiw so funny I love them both there awesome

  • Was this before or after OK Computer?

I think it's before but I'm not sure

    1997?

  • Oh gosh, Jonny was right about America and its media.

  • Wow, these guys are just amazing freedom fighters. Love, and compassion for all...

  • jonny is getting a headache for talking this much

  • hahahaha does anyone notice thom rocking out in the background while jonny gets interviewed?? i'm cracking up. thom is such a genius, he's so into the music. i love him. thumbs up if you do too

  • Thom is so adorable in the background while Jonny's talking... singing along to U2. <3

  • Actually Thom, Tibet is at the hands of Communist China.

  • @sprimusp "Communist" is the wrong word.

  • Why couldn't I have been born in the mid-80s so I could have experienced more about The Bends and OK Computer in my early teens when it was fresh and then get into their later releases as I progressed through adolescence.

I hate how nowadays most musical artists or bands rely more about image over music when the latter obviously prevails hence the phrase 'musical group' or 'musical artist'.

  • "I wish I could be there but this is so more important" ooooh sarcasm. lol

looks like thom wondered off at some point during the interview.

  • Jonny is right. Even more than 10 years later, our media here in the US is still very "closed in". Thankfully though, we now have the internet. Great interview!

  • Free Tibet !

  • wow...embarrassing.

  • u2 sucks, never imagined thom liked them

  • Its funny you say that because Radiohead wouldn't even exist without U2 so...cheers mate.

  • I don't think so, anyways u2 ain´t so bad. Bono sucks.

  • radiohead also wouldnt exist without hitler

  • @pokabeb just because they might be influenced by U2 doesn't mean that they wouldn't exist... They were inspired by many other bands too y'know.

  • he was kidding

  • @galletacaca : i have bad news for you, mate. Johnny is a U2-fan as well, I think even greater than Thom. I remember him saying in one of the interviews, that when he was a kid, he kept on watching "Under A Blood Red Sky" (u2's concert from Red Rocks), and that he knows it frame by frame...

Just because you're so musicaly narrow-minded, doesn't mean Thom is.

  • was this the free tibet concert in nyc? or the one at RFK in washington dc?

  • If I saw Jonny in the street I would run to him and hug him

  • i love Thom dancing through Johnny talking

    its adorable

  • Ugh, I'd have a bit of Jonny any day of the week. ;)

  • It's obvious, Thom is a big U2 fan, me too :)

  • J.G. couldn't have said it better.

  • hahahh jonnys like rapid fire talking i dont think he's ever spoken so much in an interview

  • Johnny I luv u!

  • Jonny is lovely

  • cool !

  • hell i can´t find the video of that version of the bends, played in tibet.... can someone help me??

  • at the end jonny greenwood was holding his head and hair i swear he is so hot and he was probably thinking to much lol i hate it wenever thom or jonny speak i can never understand them i puause videos trying to think what each line means :( there just to clever for me :o

  • its the music........and the hair OMG the hair and music :S

  • 3:07 like that ?

  • LOL oh shut up he is hot for his music and i don't tend to go for theeth....i mean it helps....but.....HE IS HOT OK !!! lol

  • thom dancing one of u2

    LOL

  • I got all excited that jonny was talking so much, but I couldn't focus with thom silly in the background. especially to U2, never would've guessed. and in the end thom just left, lmao

  • i've never heard jonny speaking so many consecutive words. astonishing

  • if we don't save them, then we don't. <3

  • Thom said "if we don't save them we're doomed" I think...

  • Spoken truth! All you hear in the media (U.S.) is us us US! and maybe wow, 5 second summary of whats going on with the entire rest of the world. And you have to actually look for what's truth and whats a lie... One of my teachers worked as a writer for FOX and he told us about how much info on the Iraq war had to be left out or how numbers were merely changed to be aired... It's so stupid.

Anyhow... Hey. It sounds like Jonny has a slight lisp, how cute! :3

  • there would be u2 playing in the background

  • uh

    kjhlkjhkljhlkjh

  • If you want to understand what Greenwood is talking about at the end. Youtube search "Chomsky" and listen to him discuss the corporate controlled media. Thom and Greenwood are very educated on the systems of power that operate this globe. Listen to their song Electioneering, read the lyrics, and research the meaning of the song from their perspective for more info...

  • If you want to understand what Greenwood is talking about the end, YouTube search "Chomsky" and listen to him talk about the controlled corporate media... Greenwood and Thom are very educated in understanding how this global system works to benefit itself. They seemed to be speaking about in the mid 90's about a lot of stuff, but I think they realized they should tone it back before they end up like John Lennon.

  • Oh my God, I want to hug Thom. He's so cute rocking out. Haha.

  • oh boy, jonnys so cool

  • geeze shes a lucky bitch she has interviewed them many times!

  • lol thoms just dancing the whole time!! Jonny greenwood rules!!!

  • i fucking love jonny moves¡¡¡¡ 2:24

  • hahahaaaa that was sort of rude what thom said, when he said that "this is way more important" but i love him anyway :D

  • ha ha, that was the point. he hates interviews.

  • haha i know, i was just sayin :)

  • he's a genius inn't he <3

  • hell yes.

  • he said "this is sort of more important" which is different... I didn't think it was rude! cheeky maybe but it was a light comment, he clearly doesn't mind!

  • Jonny you are my hero :)

  • dammm. that girl should have asked how does greenwood learned to read these medias. it is hard to understand, I do not know if it is really possible to learn to undestand these medias when you don know if you can trust in the information that is given

  • thom doesn't give a damn about this interview lol, he just dances and sings in her face !

    love you thommm

  • I love how, by the time Jonny gets to his point, Thom has obviously left to go watch the band.

Thom and Sook-Yin were friends: he probably wouldn't have bothered talking to a reporter at all during U2's set if they weren't.

  • I never realised Jonny could conduct himself in an interview so professionally, he really knows his topics, never stutters or trails off with 'umm' or 'err' once which is the least that can be said for any politician

  • headradioak, well said!

  • Thom is swaying throughout and he's proving a distraction. :]

Jonny, I don't care if you need braces - I'd do you. x

  • fuck yeah. awesome.

  • Comment removed

  • That's Sook-Yin Lee doing the interview, a gorgeous and intelligent Canadian....perfect person to inteview my favourite artists! Enjoy!!!

  • lol jonny its like talking so serious while thom is just dancing haha

  • i luv jonny but man is he wrong. clearly there are just people in the world that dont care about the world... however to generalize a nation by saying we are closed off by media? umm i dont know ... i dont get my news from just one source.. i think any clear headed individual would look to more then one source n' America is a free country and its not about the media but the person 2 get off their asses (where ever you live) n' search for the other points of news on a given subject.

  • that may be the situation regarding yourself and thousands of others but its very obvious that the majority of Americans are deluded by many avenues of media. They slander Ahmanijedad a lot but I've read so many reports on how their twisting his words around through the translation.

  • America is a free country... its not a law that the media has to tell the truth.... as with many many many media outlets in Great Britain. its up to the people to find many sides on a given subject and then to realize what is more possible to be truth. that is what you get from a free media (which america does have) - now granted there are a group (perhaps large, i wouldn't say a majority but large) that either dont care or just dont want to look at other sides of a view -and yeah thats wrong -

  • and as with all translations -- im only sure things mr. bush or mr. obama will say will be taken out of context from media outlets around the world. what people seem not to understand is that news is a money maker. thats why you only see the shocking --- and only on slow news days do you see real things like a woman who stitched her 2000th path on a quilt lol. im was just saying its the same in Great Britian as it is around the world. there's people who care and people who dont

  • lmao thom yorke is so into his music when u see them do stuff in studios he proper goes for it lolol

  • dont get me wrong radiohead are very talented and i love there songs but im afraid there confused when it comes to politics. the labour party getting was the biggest mistake in history and now look at the state of the country

  • Hindsight is great though. At the time everyone was really excited. The Tories will win next time and we'll all be let down again.

Obama just won't kill anyone. Which will be a step up on the last president...

  • jonny's right when he says North America is a very closed country when it comes to media

last year in London i read the papers about the war in Georgia with Russia, and then, when i went to America, everyone was so obsessed with their precious Obama nobody really noticed

stupid thing about it, someone even asked me, 'what? Russians are attacking Atlanta, Georgia?'

  • Ha! I'm actually from Atlanta. Didnt notice anything out of the ordinary during that time :) I will agree that unless you have an internet connection, it is very difficult to see news longer than 30 seconds on network tv concerning international happenings. Although I believe freedom of speach is very important, American media is very powerful in the ways it shapes popular opinion. Kinda scary...

  • media is very refined and closed off wherever you are in the world, sometimes its hard to believe all you read!

  • I love the way how Jonny says artists...

    Lovely!!!

  • haha thom can't keep still! jonny's trying to make a point and all i'm looking at is him swaying in the background. lol

  • i like it, is a british smile xD

  • chingate idiota superfical

  • it's not only superficial, i don't care about how he looks, it's a question of functionality

  • u sad fuk

  • Im sad? O.O You can't deny it, he does need braces, and what does that have to do with me? I love him, he's my idol, but that doesnt change the fact that his teeth are crooked. Also, learn to spell.

  • Agree... In fact, it's not a bad thing at all... He needs braces.

  • he is who he is, and he doesnt need braces!

    HE'S JONNY FUCKING GREENWOOD!

be ashamed for your suggestion =P haha

  • obviously U2 would be at a Free Tibet benefit.... bono...

  • bono, he really needs to take those fricken glasses off...

HE'S FROM IRELAND! HE SHOULDNT EVEN OWN SUNGLASSES!

  • LMAO!!!

  • dosent anyone think that johnny sounds like naboo of the mighty boosh

  • God he does! I never would had though of that. Hah favorite band... Favorite show...

  • They aer right! This have to ended.

  • FREE TIBET!!!

  • LOOOL, Thom is so ADD here

Jonny talking with Thom zoning out in the background.. priceless. I love the way he says "Canader" 2:48 ROFL

  • is the interviewer the same one who does the Kid A interview with Thom?

  • Yeah, she's an interviewer from MuchMusic (Canada's version of MTV, before MTV Canada). She left somewhere around 2000, which I'm guessing the Kid A interview would be one of her last interviews.

  • I love Jonny's voice =D

  • VOODOO ECONOMICS!!!

  • is that sook-yin lee from cbc radio's dnto?

  • It is, she used to be a reporter/interviewer for MuchMusic. as I was answering hlaakso, the comment 3 comments after you.

  • JONNY: ...East Timor was invaded in a similar way...and again, that's been very affecting in Europe...and...

THOM: WE'RE OOOONE! BUT WE'RE...NOT THE SAME! WE GET TO...CARRY EACH OTHEEEERRRR...CARRY EACH OTHEEEERRR...WHOOAAA!

  • hehe

  • lulz...thom + u2 = dance

  • Hey look! Jonny speaks :D

  • gosh jonny is so freakin sexy!

  • this one is lovely

  • jonny greenwood is god.

  • I'd love to see Thom singing with Bono!

  • Thom just wants to dance to U2, love this

  • Thom's paying attention to U2 show rather than interview. Even he says "this is more important."

    LOL.

  • i love how he completely zones out to sing along to "One".

  • lol@Thom. Jonny's so cool.

  • Haha Thom just disappeared! :D

  • completely? ;D

  • Haha yes! That´s a good one! ;D
