My dad, a LRRP with the 23rd Div, once accidentally stepped in one of these. The only reason he is still alive to talk about it is because all the weight from his ruck caused him to miss all the spikes and all he got was just a fractured ankle. He was one of the luckiest guys in the war.

that tactic was use in the civil war but with the bayonets. they use to stab the dead rotted horses. the infection was horrible.
