The uplift was crucial in producing the canyon, yet we have very poor understanding of what caused the uplift. Lots of theories (mantle delamination, crustal thickening, volatile addition etc), but none are concrete at all.

@Helge129 No, but there has been many boats found. Just 350 miles away from mt ararat there is a city called Gobekli Tepe which was buried under 20 ft of sand perhaps to preserve it and protect it from flood, there was in fact a flood of some kind.

Flood stories are prevalent because virtually every civilisation to arise has started in regions prone to flooding because those regions also happen to be the best agricultural regions as well and thus provide a surplus of food, which is what gave the impetus for civilisation.

@dudev I'm not making up a mystery. The history of the Grand Canyon is much more complicated than just saying 'gravity'. Take the Colorado plateau uplift for example. The uplift was crucial in producing the canyon, yet we have very poor understanding of what caused the uplift. Lots of theories (mantle delamination, crustal thickening, volatile addition etc), but none are concrete at all.

The video does jump around just a bit. You should try sticking to a point for a while, then move on. Otherwise, it was quite good. I have heard a number of things 'explained' by the flood. It's scary as hell that in an age where we know how to make atomic bombs many of us barely understand general earth science.
