I remember back in the day when waxing meant rubbing paraffin on your skis. If you didn't have it, you'd rub a candle stick. No ironing, scraping and brushing bs
poor technique and explanation. not to mention violating just about every safety protocol suggested in a tech shop. wouldn't let my skis near this guy
@jackison023 I must agree. I've never heard of scraping off all the wax before. I hate the "dripping wax" method also. I just rub mine on, then iron afterward.
Hi, You can clean with the chemical cleaner but it strips the base. If you clean with the wax and you are getting wax in to your base or don't clean at all. Just wax often. If you are on the world cup it is crucial.
Ski wax can be made from Paraffin and Microcrystalline Waxes. Paraffin is soft and is good for warmer weather. Microcrystalline wax is mixed with the Paraffin to make the wax harder for colder weather. There could be other chemicals in ski wax that I do not know of.
@Mrskierkierdude just make sure your not scraping into your bases, you should get a little base material with the wax but if your getting loads stop, and pull out the brush, this saves your base structure and it will hold for a long time and its fast as lightning which leads to more :)
I have a question here: If i want to put Swix CH4 green cold wax on my skis, is it a good idea to add a little bit of purple and blue waxes to it so i dont scrape all the green off when i scrape?
Yes, At first I was thinking what is a snowskate and then I remember. At Mt. Southington School they have one for us ski instructors to play with. So if the bottom of it looks like a ski or snowboard it will work.
Stoned is the way of the wax...

How often do you do this?
y2knoproblem 1 year ago
When you go bicycling do you make sure your tires are at the right pressure and fill them if they need it.
You should wax before skiing every time. I wax my race skis every time and my others skis I will ski two or three times and then wax.
skiwiz100 1 year ago
@y2knoproblem every week

Hi, For Swix Yellow 230F, Red 245F, violet 275F,Blue 280F and Green is 300F. I found it in a Swix book I have.
Ski/Snowboard Preparation. It is from 2006.

So you think I need better on screen talent for my next video. How To Sharpen Your Skis.

@skiwiz100
He is a good wax tech. He speaks well. He may not have electric eunthsiasm, but would you really want that guy waxing skis.
What about the tranverse rilling? Make sure to brush that out as well.
You have sufficient on screen talent here.

When you say thin to win how much is that because I have heard you are supposed to scrape it all off??
Mrskierkierdude 1 year ago
When I went to the Ski Mechanics Workshop. They had a saying. Thick to stick and thin to win. Yes scrape it all off and brush it out.

what do you scrape it with
mtlwill 3 years ago
If u have a Swix waxing kit, it should come with a metal scraper.. mostly all the wax kits have one included. :-)
MrHvrd 3 years ago
i just had the wax but i used a thin sheet of metal and it seemed to work fine

is there a difference between ski wax and snowboard wax?
swix wax is top knotch stuff but i'm kinda of low on cash right now.
what are some good hot waxes that i can get off the net for cheap? i mean blocks that have enough wax for more than just one snowboard waxing.
csskid 3 years ago 2
No, skis and boards have the same base material so it doesn't matter.
K2Tanner 3 years ago
Swix sells wax in a box, with 5 bars that are 180g.
The box is 900g. SVST has 10 oz. bars and I thank it cost less than Swix.

axelwillowtree 3 years ago
I would mix red or purple. the blue is hard.
and with the harder waxes I will scrape the wax when it is warm. Not wet just warm.
I am not a expert at waxing. I was just the camera opertor an editor for the video. posted it to.
skiwiz100 3 years ago
do you have to wax your skis???
ROCKSTARburner16 3 years ago
Not waxing your skis is like riding your bicycle with haft the air pressure in your tires.
skiwiz100 3 years ago
Hi,
I never heard that you should wax tip to tail but know scrape should have been done tip to tail. With the wax and brush, thats all we had.
I was just the camera person and I did the editing. How did that part look.
skiwiz100 3 years ago
would it be the same process for rub-on wax just no iron?
john21992 3 years ago
You don't scrape or brush rub on waxes, usually you just apply and use a cork or paper towel to rub it into the ski
