Of coarse the others got out quick, that is the emergency procedure. A canopy has gone over the tail and the pilot will have his/her work cut out without having to handle the weight of several people in the back. Also, if the pilot is wearing a parachute and the plane suddenly becomes unflyable the only way of escape is out of that same door.

This is a prime example why we do pin checks. For those that people who don't read other informative comments. This guy did live he deployed his reserve after freefalling to a lower altitude. I am sure that after hanging from the tail he didn't want to hang out at high altitude under canopy for a half hour.

Wow on some of these comments. His pilot chute came loose and went out the door which deployed his main which in turn got hung up on the tail. Finally he cut away and he would have deployed his reserve and landed normally.

All skydiving rigs have two parachutes inside them...the main, and a reserve (which must be packed by an FAA-certified rigger). He had another parachute.

it was more than likely deployed by mistake. Dont quote me on this. But it almost looks likes a mini sony dv camera is snagged on his pilot chute and the weith of it pulls it from his pack. If you pause it at the right place it looks identicle to my SonyDv camera. Some skydivers use the sony DV cameras attached to there head gear.

Looks like he left a loop of his bridle line too loose and it caught in the airflow outside the plane, pulling out the rest of the bridle from where it was stowed. The bridle's attached at either end to the main canopy and the pilot chute, so they both got pulled out behind him and he got dragged out the door. Nasty.

a reserve parashute is designt to open very easely, it can open way easyr then the normal shute, and if u se then ormal shute already opens exedenly in the wind,. the reserve shute, no, mostly will not be able to fail.

I saw this on like exteam videos and what happens is when a parachute undos in a plane, the conducter has to push him out or it will open in the plane and cause it to crash. as he was pushedout he sliped and it caused him to fall towards the tail and get stuck....he then cut the strings and opened his reserve chute and he landed saftly...

When I first seen this I was like WTF. that had to suck. But after 4 jumps now the answer is simple, Just disconnect the SRL. free fall and pull the reserve. Thats one of the things I hate about small planes. Unfortunatelly thats all I have jumped out of.

best way to help him was to let him help himself.

Because if the chute had deployed fully while attached to the plane, it would have stalled and basically fallen out of the sky. As it happened, the fabric of the parachute wrapped around the tail and didn't slow the plane too much.
