Nice version, I always found the original a bit crude. And the video is cool, simplicity isn't always a bad thing. Some videos are too busy they take from the music, this lets the music do the work!
Any of you Art of Noise fans know of a song they performed on an album around 1990 (+/- a few years) that featured a male that "yodeled" to a high register? I lost my LP in a move, and now I can't find the album online (although I though the cover was like the one used in this video and many other compilations).
@mcarthur2 See post below to xinteldnb. See if One Earth is also the song you remember. The yodeling in the high register I mention in the description above is probably a Native American vocalization??
Is Yebo a song, album or a different group? If the latter, that is not the answer. The album I remember also has several Art Of Noise classics like Dragnet. I just haven't seen a compilation with several other songs that are very memorable.\ but not an any album I've seen on any site.
@xinteldnb Sounds promising! If you dig that up from your collection, it will fill a long-missed vacancy in my music history. In fact, the name Yebo is even starting to sound familiar. It could be it!. Thnx.
@xinteldnb Found it on YouTube. Sorry, not it. I may have it on a cassette tape somewhere, so I guess I'll search for that. AON has so many albums that it just doesn't work to try to screen them all for a couple of songs that likely only appear on one obscure compilation. Thanks for your help, though.
@xinteldnb Found it! One Earth from the album, In No Sense Nonsense (listen on this site). My description of this song above was quite accurate. My YouTube browsing hit another song that I remembered and then I just went to that source album where I also found One Earth (along with the ubiquitous Dragnet and Peter Gunn). It is actually a 1987 album. Again, thanks for bringing me back to contiune the quest. It paid off big-time.
Thanks! As you can see below, I found the answer on my own, but if I had not, you would be the Sherlock Holmes who solved the mystery for me. I ordered the CD of 'In No Sense? Nonsense' yesterday. Again, thanks for your help! You were the only person who figured out what I meant by 'yodeling in a high register.' More likely, a vocalization derived from Native American culture.
I believe the one you're looking for is 'One Earth' -- (Peter Rowan yodels on this track), 1987's 'In No Sense? Nonsense!'. It's on YouTube, take a look. Hope this helps?
@electromusiccreation See above the postings on One Earth from about 7 months ago when I finally identified my "missing" album from continued trial-and-error on YouTube. Thanks for the help anyway.
@JVerstry Thanks so much! As you will see a half-dozen posts above yours, I solved the riddle about a year ago, and yours is the fourth reply since that also figured it out and offered the answer. I did buy "In No Sense, Nonsense" and revisit that 1987 album periodically. Thanks again for taking the effort to help.
