The Mughals conquered each one and made it into the Mughal empire, then it became the British Empire and then when the Brits left the empire was dismantled and various states decided to join pakistan or India-but both got their independece from the Brits.

The Pakistan military and paramilitary is drawn from the martial races of Pakistan- some regiments are well over 50% Pashtun-for example the Frontier Constabulary.The rank and file jawan is as professional as always. We hope with Musharraf gone,the senior army Generals will regain the professionalism of the jawans.Remember in the Arab Israeli wars, the only pilots who became aces while fighting for Arab air forces were Pakistanis. It's not character and professionalism we lack- it's leadership.
