  • The Beauty of Cutler, reverence of the land, and for al the great spirit has given us, .. beautiful. I am not Native, My spirit is, i however, have learned from my Shaman, and believe with the anishinabe, The original people.

  • How can they be connected to the environment with such short hair?

  • Onelove..Crazy Horse prophesy, warriors of the rainbow>> occupy on..take care

  • Keep passing on the traditions!! Be proud!!! Don't let this beautiful culture wear away!!!

  • @ZiggZagg27

    its spelled Sioux

  • what drum is this??

  • Duck -n- Dive isn't a Sioux song, its Nez Pierce...

  • BEAUTIFUL, BEYOND WORDS.

  • Sometimes theres a notice need....... If it werntnt

  • Really, women are not sposta be at the drum, well jusso u knw, if it wernt for our women our nation would not hav survived ths long, so i for one do not hav a problem wth a woman sittin at the drum as long as she is walkin the Red Road an not on her moon. And you can thank the wasicu's for the plastic chairs,a great invention! An im an American and LOVE the flag!! Niyepi waslolyesni henicapi!!!

  • women are not suppose to be singing at the drum, i dont know what tribe allows them to do that but i know the lakota and most plains tribes women are not allowed to sit at the drum, they can only stand behind the men and sing.

  • @LauraLynn82 Its a grandmothers circle...

  • does it matter what colour of skin someone has ? Im white / European i enjoy this music just love it. What happend centuries ago is dispicable and should never happend. No need to be hating each other now

  • It's nice to see that women are playing drums and singing :)

  • I would try to repair that recording...it is a beautiful old traditional song.

  • I respect tradition, but do not be offended of women drumming and singing because many men chose not to express themselves and these women will carry songs for our future generations!

  • its not the material world that is to be worried about we heal ourselves from within and the healing will spread to your external reality. Much love to those who sacrificed there lives for us to be here god bless our vetrans. These people who "rule the land" forget what true power is because they have tainted it therefore it cannot last. NATIVE PRIDE!

  • @humanTFC Much respect to you and the native americans for your truth. I honor it. I agree.

  • how do we heal when the europeans still run this land?

  • up here in minnesota we do not allow the women near the drum nor do we let them sing-- this is the ojibwa way-

  • Thanks for sharing this video

  • the ancestors are strong in them

  • like anyone could ever know that...besides this is not a Lakota song..it is a Nez Perce song (-:

  • mexicans dont like indians and spainiards.Spainiards dont like mexicans and indians.Indiands dont give a shit, they are pure, naive kids who like mather nature and all people.

  • @soska247

Not true, I don't hate any other races at all. There are good and bad people in different colors. I love good peple I hate bad people.

  • @Kowl i am sorry man, what are you?And i am dont wont to sound narrow minded but in general its truth, even if it dos not applying to you.I been in Spain and alloverthe world to know the difirence, and you right about good and bad i never sad that mex or spain was bad its just the way people have they way, again in general.

  • @soska247

All good, and I agree I guess it all depends on how we are raised and the experiences one has in life.

  • dakota oyate!

  • and there goes the headphones.

  • This isn't a Sioux song, its a duck n dive song by some other tribe.

  • Amazing heard this music when I was 8 or 10 years old in S.Dak, our ranch was butted up to the rosebud reservation. Just for the interested out there. You would never hear a Lakota on the reservation refer to himself as a Sioux. Their name for themselves (Lakota meant friend) the other tribes called them Sioux which means Snake.

  • Reading these comments it is clear the pain runs deep. I wish peace for all people. Don't let what has happened in the past ruin your future

  • White, British and i`m LOVIN THIS TUNE

  • American is a nationality, not a blood line. As is European, African or Mexican. People born in Canada, USA and Mexico all the way south to Brazil and Venezuela are all "Americans" by continental origin... Why is it all the nut jobs are drawn to very ethnic oriented locations on the web?

  • sitting in plastic chair and USA flags flying in the back ground ...kinda sad

  • @914light lol

  • @914light What's sad about it? Would you rather them sit on the ground and have Canada flags in the background? I see nothing "sad" about a group of people maintaining their language and culture, while still expressing their patriotism.

  • @MrAnimeLoverXXX ..well dear ..you will be hard pressed to find a more magnificent people then the indigenous of either country ... however their culture was NOT about promoting plastic ...and that's nothing patriotic about honoring the flag of a system that tried to wipe them out !! it's a beautiful song !! Take Care

  • @914light i don't think it's sad at all. talk about dwelling on the past. they still retained their culture, didn't they? ask any native american veteran if he thinks it's sad that they're flying american flags

  • @DeanFingers ..well, since you find the US government so honorable ..pls do pay my taxes for the next 5 yrs ..ok

  • This Earth nor those on it will never survive unless we realize and live with the fact that WE ARE ALL ONE.

  • ZiggZagg27 who is the woman singing in the video?

  • anyone know which pow wow this waz at? she soundz familiar to me but i cant place her voice...

  • Women sitting at the drum? How progressive of you. At least they killed it.

  • Fuck you.. That aint a sioux song..

    Damn crows anyway..

  • This is awesome!

  • I ADORE how there are women drumming.

  • the duck and dive, that girl sure does have some pipes on her.

  • i like it so much ...

  • We're out side load and clear

  • if this song should be performed to the white house

    he would understand

    and go...

  • @stro555 Obama is voted down by 40+ states that have no reservations. Obama is not effective facing career politicians who play politics everyday. Do not vote democrats into office as they love illegal mexicans and give them jobs that belong to All Americans. Google it and see the truth with respect to my bro's

  • @beone011

I am not fellow citizen for this country but european

    I understand your good advice

I do no politics anymore but more citizens for action

i am fighting along for the wolfs

  • wow this lil girl can really sing good job!

  • That little girl sure can belt out that song huh? Extraordinary!

  • Best Sioux Song u ever recorded? U need 2 get out more !

  • that shits hot

  • Sitting at the drum or not hands down that young lady has an awesome voice!

  • I understand about respect, but what I hear and see is beautiful. I sense something powerful around them. That is why those children gathered around.

  • duck and dive

  • I guess the women have the "right" to be sitting in the circle! Protocol!

  • Wow is that a little girl at the drum????

  • dude, if an elder seen you at the drum like that with all the men they will be angry

  • Matt 10884.....A "man" doesn't call a woman a "hen". This warrior could teach you some respect. Is your mom, sister, daughter, wife, niece or grandmother a chicken?? Mine aren't either. Everyone grow up. Walk a mile in our moccasins then repost. I admit this wasn't our best performance but we were trying. At least we weren't rapping! I love all of you in the Pacific Northwest! Reunion at Siletz???

  • If you are respectful, you ask what people call themselves. I am Sicangu Lakota. Sungska....If it makes you feel better, we don't sing as a group. We do sing with some well known groups....me, in the second circle at the drum; my wife, standing behind my in the third circle. Wapioke....As a fellow singer you might want to consider encouraging other singers instead of letting your insecurity surface.

  • Wow! So much negativity about something so beautiful. The pessimist sees a couple of females singing at a drum. The optimist sees two adults traveling all over the Plains with a few teenagers; showing the kids something positive instead of drinking, smoking and disrespecting themselves. BTW we did ask before doing so. We had our Elders' blessings. Hey Raymond and Greg. I miss you guys. This is Shane. I had to create a name so I could respond to you. Sorry it took so long.

  • Rofl, the arguing on this thread is just too Ironic. Thanks for posting this video, I for one really enjoyed it...and yes, that girl's voice is totally bad-ass.

  • this is a great song and an even better one to get down and dance to its a good old fashion duck n dive thanks for sharing it with everyone

  • very disrespectful a woman is not suppose to be sitting around the drum the women who sing should be standing behind the men so disrespectful...

  • @lohnes08 its a northern style drum group and the women are aloud to sit with the men as long as it is not a southern style group

  • its funny how whites kill 95% of the Native Americans and then talk about how much American they are more than the so called Mexicans....

  • @99cacahuate Technically All North American Natives are roughly 33% Caucasian. Native American origins are from Asia, Australia, And Europe. Which is really cool. Because it means the whole world owns the land. Truly a testament to the American way.

Technically all land is stolen. And long before the whites came, the Mississippi Valley civilization was stealing land from other natives. All land is stolen. And that land was stolen before it was stolen, onto eternity.

  • @Gormanmod it's this your excuse for whites to descriminate and hate everywhere they settle then? PLEASE DON'T BOTHER TO RESPOND.

  • @99cacahuate Nope. That's my summary of humanity. Whites don't discriminate and hate everywhere they settle, all of humanity does. Shall I go through the list? I think I will Humans to Neanderthals China to Japan Japan to Korea English to Blacks Egyptians to blacks Blacks to Egyptians Romans to the Gauls Huns to the Romans Innumerable Native American tribes to each other Persians to the Greeks Greeks to the Dacians Germans to the Romans Eh, that should be enough. As you see, mankind is a thief.
  • @99cacahuate ...2

As a simple matter of fact, there is no nation, group of people, nor culture innocent on Earth. All peoples have been slaves at one point in time or another. It is in our genes. We humans quickly slaughtered our fellow hominids millions of years before "race" or "nation" ever existed. Only now, after eons of blood spilled, does one see the true nature of man. A proper logical man can only chose one line of action. Reject culture and nationalism. Reject your ancestor's actions.

  • @Gormanmod yeap a classy white guy way of thinking.

  • @99cacahuate And do you pride yourself off your people? Taking pride in what your ancestors did is lazy. You are not them. In as much as the president of Egypt did not build the pyramids, you cannot pride yourself off the majestic fighting skill and faith of your lost people. What a man does is what his worth is. No one can steal that worth. And holding onto it as his descendant is nothing short of desperation.

  • Comment removed

  • @99cacahuate ...2 I am actually mixed from nay peoples. 3-4% being Cherokee. My ancestors also built Stone henge, the Colosseum, the Haggai Sophia, and many others. But they also did all the things I listed before. But they did that. And now they are dead. I did not, and I could hardly care to take pride off that.

Your hatred for whites is for what? A victim's mentality? You survived. Now make something of your life and stop blaming the dead for what they did. Grow up.

  • @Gormanmod You are ignorant and are not fit to judge people.

It's not just what the dead have done, but what Americans, Canadians, Mexicans and other peoples continue to do today, in 2011, to the indigenous peoples of the Americas. Poverty and death and despair, the theft of land and resources from Indian people, legal rights, these are all perpetuated TODAY. That's living non-Indians! You are too ignorant to hope for improvement, but I post this to remind anyone reading this.

  • @nulwee Fail to see how. And how do you even steal land? What is land? It's just a surface. Who cares.

  • @nulwee Oh yea blame it on others I am Irish look back in history when there is people treated unfair there is always rich fuckers thinking they own every thing so my people did not steal or treat anyone bad I feel we are all the same there is no color or race

  • @ihc1963 Your comment doesn't even make sense. You being Irish has nothing to do with American Indians. If you don't think Irish Americans massacred and raped and stole from Indian people, you're pretty damn ignorant. It's called the Scots-Irish, and they were there for every massacre.

  • @nulwee Gee sounds like( indian) people they did and still do

to their own people as well as others as do all races of peoples.

I am half Native american as they are called and would never

want to claim my heritage as most are REAL LOSERS i live

very near a reservation and i see what they are very few of

the proud nations left only HANG AROUND THE FORT LOSERS.

  • @ihc1963 You are not fit to judge the 500 different sovereign nations in this country with your broad brush and lack of wisdom. We call ourselves American Indians or First Americans by more than 2 to 1, so get your terminology straight before you start acting like you know shit.

  • @nulwee do not jump upon @ihc1963. i understand what he means, on some of our reservations we have many flaws, do we not?

  • @99cacahuate ...3

Finally, you can call it all you want, but what you belief and what is fact is very much so different. You blame the children of people for the crimes of their father. Under this mentality, the whole of the human race is guilty, because we killed our ancestors. All men are murderers under your ideology. Nay, I say. The truth is that a man is a man, not a group, not his father. If you can't comprehend that, then it is a shame, because your ancestors did.

  • @99cacahuate Whites? Surely I shouldn't be blamed for what my ancestors may have done. I believe if you are born in America, then you are an American regardless of race. Regardless of where your parents are from.

  • @99cacahuate what you mean so called mexicans?

  • @eagleeye2391 well mexicans is what the english call them, mexicanos is what the spanish call them, ACTUALLY THEY ARE MEH-SHEE-KAS ONE OF MANY TRIBES OF THE AMERICAN CONTINENT.

  • @99cacahuate yea i kno who the mexicas were but theres also aztecs and zapotects and mayas in what we now is called mexico therefore we are all now mexicans in mexico, native americans are not mexicans

  • @eagleeye2391 what??? I HOPE YOU ARE NOT SAYING THAT AMERICA IS JUST THE U.S.....oh i see the classic brainwashed gringo kid...ha ha.

  • @99cacahuate no pendejo soy mexicano, no gringo y si se que todo el continente es America pero a estados unidos se le llama America para no decir todo el nombre del pais completo, como todos decimos Mexico no Estados Unidos Mexicanos

  • @99cacahuate sounds like racism comeing from a racist.

  • @tonymarie1984 truth hurts huh?

  • @99cacahuate I dont have a guilt for the things i never done, But i do feel sorry you feel this way.

  • Comment removed

  • @tonymarie1984 SORRY???? no man this is what is keeping me on my feet, THE TRUTH FEEDS MY SOUL.

  • @99cacahuate and you know what REALLY FUNNY is? no white american (nowadays) actually is american, they're all from great britain and ireland haha

  • @sashagala true....

  • @99cacahuate my friend we are not americans we are native landers cuz our ancesters run this land it belong to us, no matter if you are from the north or south we are a great race and we should allways be proud of it

  • @99cacahuate it's funny how we can't let go of things that happened hundreds of years ago

  • @DeanFingers well those things that happened hundreds of years are still to this day going on......it's just some people refuse to see it that way.....ever heard of whites invading other countries to steal their resources? or calling natives of this continent " illegals, wetbacks, or even alliens " ha ha

  • @99cacahuate well. clearly you're a racist. racists = idiots. never argue with an idiot. goodbye.

  • @DeanFingers TRUTH HURTS THE ONE LIVING THE LIE....

  • @99cacahuate also, the spanish (who settled mexico) killed millions of native americans - in mexico and south america. while american settlers decimated populations, the spanish literally wiped them out (ever heard of the aztecs?) try doing some research before making such a belligerent claim

  • @DeanFingers well spanish are WHITE too.....and when i said " native americans " means FROM ALASKA TO TIERRA DEL FUEGO( ARGENTINA ) TO ME ALL OF THEM ARE NATIVE AMERICANS TOO... maybe you're right i should say europeans and not whites.

  • @username4Y ther singing about a battle. this a traditional dance contest song. yu can hear the infuenc of the battle that there singing about in the loud beat. when that beat is hit all the dancers will duck down to dodge bullets (akathe loud beat)

  • Hush, verbal knife artists! I just wanna know what they're singing about!

  • i like the sound and drums

  • if you don't like it..don't listen to it..

  • once again..this is my brother and his family at rosebud fair. wherever this song came from..it is sung all over the damn place and in different ways. respect!! it is up to each individual and each drumgroup to have women sit at the drum or not. people talk about how things used to be and how it should be but do we really go by that way anymore? if each tribe did, we'd all have respect and understanding. so just enjoy their beautiful voices..if not, listen to a different song! much love bro! pce

  • Women/girls are NOT supposed to be at the drum, this tradition goes way back since the beginning of time. Respect the traditions! ASK a Lakota Elder. Almost all of our sacred rites are being destroyed by contemporary indians, we need to go back to who we really are.

  • Comment removed

  • NOT TOO BAD ON THA SINGIN' BUT THESE KIDS NEED TOO KNOW THE SONG BETTER IF THEY ARE GOING TOO SING THIS KIND OF SONG.THIS IS A NEZ PERCE HONOR SONG SO THIS SONG COMES FROM MY PEOPLE AND I HATE TOO SAY THIS IF A NEZ PERCE ELDER WERE TOO HEAR YOU GUYS THEY WOULD GIVE YOU A GOOD TALKING TOO.BUT LEARN THA SONG BEFORE YOU SING IT

  • @rollerzonlyrida Then can you help me understand the true way of life i believe by having this type of music inside me i shall have no fear in of anything or anyone....Im a 22 year old guy born in america but family from haiti...I always knew something was about the indians since i was very young..it was something inside me i think thats why im so gentle and kind they call me the gentle giant in school.

  • @rollerzonlyrida this is not a nez perce song-it's true the nez perce sing a duck and dive but this is not the same song...up in Canada there is a duck and dive same as in the Crow country...nez perce can keep thier song.....lol

  • yuck......love my ndn women but they suck at singing

  • its makes my heart happy that the children of our native nations are learning our ways....The TRUE RELIGION of the AMERICAS!!!!!!

  • haha this is a duck n dive. its a nez perce song

  • I was born a Christian & Christened in the Church of England, however I am not a practising Christian, it saddens me when I see people on here slaiting us WHITES as bad people...I am far from a bad person, I respect Mother Earth, i'm a reiki master & would rather heal then kill...I'm not & never have been a greedy person, I love true Native American culture & am trying to learn Cherokee. i'n my opinion people should live & let live! Respect to earn respect, Love & peace to all & Wado for the vid

  • @YorkieDeb the thing is if people do not act against and defy bad elements in this world then all the people who are sleeping in this world are not good either... and the greater sins of others seal our fate also in the process... you might live well.. you might be polite and appreciate other cultures.. but words have no purpose unless there are acts of great generousity to give them life.. most humans should be scratched of the earth besides the ones that make the difference

  • Powerful

  • nakoda zi miye noh....

  • Finally a REAL song.

    No synthesizers.

I hate those idiots that ruin these epic and cultural songs by putting computer stuff in them and milk out the culture.

  • i wish i was back home to sing once more i miss it really bab!!! keep up the good work!!!!!

  • Awesome!! Thanks for posting.

  • It sounds like a Butterfly Song. I'm not totally sure though.

  • @Ettenyl19 This is a Duck and Dive. Men's song it is representative of a battle. I don't know about explaining more than that right now.

  • Assuming this is actually in the Sioux language, can anyone tell which dialect (Lakota, Nakota, Dakota, etc), and does anyone know what the words mean in, say, English?

  • @angriffeins Huh?

  • @Tradishndn How would one express the same sentiments in English, and what is the actual language in which it is being performed? If in Sioux, there seem to be several variants. For that matter, what are the actual words?

  • @angriffeins it's pretty hard to explain the Dakota language into english, yes it has been done but the dakota language has a deeper meaning than what english can express

  • @giggs12d3 I understand the difficulty of translation . . . I speak several languages (European and Asian) . . . but there are "correspondences" (to borrow from Baudelaire) that make it possible.

  • stfu.

  • Wish I knew the words and could sing along.

  • @angriffeins Then listen... Simples :P

  • Potente tiene la vos la muchacha

  • much Love, Mate--CHEERS! Aho !

  • @larv0964 I have to agree with you about the "indian" word, let it go already. I realy miss Shane , Noella, Whitney (kudos on the upcoming graduation), and Tashina, wish I could see them all.

  • @Tradishndn yeah Noella another woman and I just "wicaglata'd" last night at a small powwow after honoring Whit. It was fun. Noella has a strong beautiful voice as well. By the way who's this? hee

  • @Tradishndn Oh I c. Sorry. Cool!! I am Shanes younger sister. Does the twins look alike? ha.

  • Sounds good.

  • The beautifully powerfull, bright shining voice of the young Native girl (on the left), brings such immense joy to my heart when I hear her sing this song that her ancestors have been singing for thousands of years. Continue the journey of our proud people and always keep singing!

  • @nativegirl1828 If you don't mind a Washitsu comenting. I was a Vista on Rosebud many many years ago. I learned to love the music and the people there. When I hear this music I tear up with the beauty of it. I am so glad the pride in self has come back so strongly. Good on ya and Waste'
