Nice discus, how big is the tank? I much prefer a planted tank with driftwood, gravel and lots of plants, discus truly look there best in there. Bare bottom tanks might be easier to clean, but planted tanks are much better and really arne't that hard to maintain.
its easier to clean. i have gravel in my discus tank and they do fine though. the key is to feed them good food, such as beefheart and bloodworms, even live blackworms if you want to risk it.
My uncle has some discuses too. they are really big! they are like 8-10 in long already. they bred like 20 times already. he has a tank full of the :)
This aquarium brings a whole new meaning to a "planted tank". Plants *in* pots? Really?

I want to do the exact same thing in my tank with the pots and plants. Any advice on how to do it correctly? Did you cap the dirt with sand?
