Without metrics, Google just wouldn't as efficiently. One thing I admire about Google is that they're upfront and telling you what they're doing. Plus, most of their stuff is free, can you really complain about that?

going to a web site is like going to a store, your still being watched. May it be cameras or cookies, business watch where people go and how they get there in order for them to make changes to improve on their layouts so they can get you what you want faster, one of the main reasons they "monitor" you

@cheverisim0 Wake up and smell the coffee. google admited their "Street View" car picked up data from wireless networks. Which is practacly impossible unless you do it on purpose. That may be your opinion but google reminds me of "Big Brother" lol

Part of DuckDuckGo's campaign is that they don't collect ANY data from you. They even have options to prevent it from storing cookies.

Most ISP's are worse than Google could ever be. As ISP's are using Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) and they can collectal ALL emails you send and receve & what sites you ever bean on ! and exsactly what files you have downloaded. (BT, British Telecom Uk ) got into trubble for this in 2009.
And theres NO protection from this.

None of this still helps. Google tracks your IP whether you like it or not so they can run a database query for what searches are under that IP.
They even track your IP in Gmail to know who's logging into that account.
You could just use multiple browsers and in one, turn off all JavaScript so they can't store cookies and use a Proxy to access Google.
