Why are their neck pickups missing?

Because they took out the guitars' original pickups and only replaced the bridge pickup, since the bridge pickup naturally sounds a lot cleaner for soloing.

thanks. yeah i saw them last week and i was wondering why he had electrical tape where his neck pickup should be and do you know whether that effects how he does that high pitch part at the end of beatus.

i don't think it does... unless he's actually like scratching on the pickup. do you know how he does that part? he plays between the bridge and the holes where the strings go right?

to come up with these bizarre riffs...or learn them? If I was in this band and the other guitarist would show his latest riff and it would sound like 2:25 or something I would just panic, just asking them to letting me go...

Probably to learn them, since they're using a lot of different scales and keys in their music. And doing that, while shifting into different positions every second is a bit difficult. Wouldn't you say?

I've written some fairly complex stuff along the lines of this shit, but I suck at learning other's songs. even nontechnical stuff; I think I just don't have the patience or ambition. the original versions are always the best, so what could I contribute, ya know? I certainly would try if I was to be recruited by a band this nasty though...
