season 1 is the era of oz being controlled by schibetas boys and things in oz were running smoothely till ortalanis death and ryan oreilys arrival. inmates cud smoke have conjugal visits and there was no death penalty. glynn respected schibetta,there was tho shit on glynns bro that kept glynn in ninos pocket but nino never over played his hand with glynn but wen he died and peter arrived he sealed the italians fate in oz and they had to rebuild their power structure in the following seasons.

The good old days, when a death actually meant something. <---- Yeah, that's something that I really miss from Oz's first seasons. In the last seasons, everybody died just for the shock factor, without any consequence whatsoever.

i agree that later in the show, a lot of deaths are glazed over for no reason, like when metzger dies, no one seems to notice, but i hated post, he had it coming for killing ortolani. plus he killed him in the most cowardly way possible

what got me was how swift justice was in Oz. When they reinstituted the death penalty people went from being found guilty to executed in one episode. Its like whatever state Oz was in had no appeal system
