It's funny how everyone says that Kathy sucked in this one, yet in another Scenes from a Hat from the SAME TAPING she did the hilarious Sesame Street joke. I guess the editing of the video can really make her look like crap: I remember an episode when she didn't say a single word, yet in other episodes of that same taping she had some good moments. Nice editing!

I'm not a big fan of Kathy but I can't be too harsh on her, she had a lot of good moments on the show.

It's true. I think it's because they try to remain acceptably girly and sweet and pretty (but sometimes they subvert it by saying really obscene things while acting sweet and pretty), because that's what they feel they have to do to be on TV...and that's not very funny. But that's why Whoopie Goldberg was so funny on this show, she didn't try to act like that. She didn't seem to be concerned about what everyone was thinking about her, like most other female comedians.

I am a woman and am really into stand up comedy (I have performed my own before) Honestly, I think the subjects that women are "allowed" to talk about is not nearly as long as what men are. You rarely hear a woman comedian talking about something other than her mother, her husband and her children. And you almost never see a truly dry, witty sarcastic woman. Or a woman talking about politics, religion and the like. (And remain funny) There are notable exceptions of course.
