Can sure agree with Lewis Grizzard about actors attempting to use a southern accent.. Its just something one can not pick up quickly. I live in the ''deep South'' an when people for other States make comments on my accent, I tell 'em THEY have the accent and talk normal.lol As for Southern Cops, the movies have given them a bad rap.. Not all are brutal rednecks. Course the movies have made fun of the South for years, but those of us who live here know its not true.

I definitely believe in anyone defending themselves, have just dealt with that on facebook, was being attacked for no reason. I was brought up under 2 phrases taught to me by my grandfather who was born in 1884.... I lived in the North for 4 years while in the Air Force and considered moving back when I separated. I didn't say anything derogatory about Northerners in general. Just USAon3. Those are good lessons, but an equally good lesson is to defend yourself.

I was raised Southern and proud to be Southern, but my mother taught me to keep my mouth shut and just let people think I am a fool, rather than opening and letting everyone know. A good friend gave me several of his books and I'm working through them. I never came across him while he was alive as I'm from KY. Anyway, I love his style and when I read that some of his ashes were spread at the 50 at Georgia's stadium, I REALLY knew what a great guy he was! A stadium is the best place to spend part of eternity. I've been to only one Georgia game but it was a good'n! Vince Dooley, Herschel and soon after, "How 'bout them Dawgs?!?!?!?!"

I'll never forget that day!

I've been a fan of Lewis's since I was eleven years old. I've read nearly a dozen of his books and I still get them used on the internet every now and then. One of my biggest regrets is that I never met him before he died.
