I know this is an old post, but I can't help myself. There's nothing I hate more than animal abuse and yes, maybe this isn't "ideal" for Koko, but she is FAR from mis-treated and she's very happy. Joseph treats her better than any father I've seen treat their own kid and you can tell how much he loves her just by watching him. Not to mention the fact that he never forces her to do anything she doesn't want to do. She's happy, she has her own dog, she has run of the house, no cages...
@spinksy1979 omg finally someone who understandssss. my mom and joe are dating so hes like a second dad to me. and people dont get the fact that every dime he earns he spends on koko
I am so sad to recently hear of this news.I found Jose to be one of the kindest men I ever met who gave such an amazing life to an animal I have ever seen. I have been visiting them from Maine a few times a year.I want to give Jose a big hug and let him know just how sad I am..I have cried so many time thinking of him ever being without her..If ANYBODY has ANY information about where they are let me know!! Jill Kelley jkelleysalon@yahoo.com I cant imagine them apart from eachother!!
Coco is going to Monkey World to live with other chimps hopefully in the start of this year. Her owner had another chimp called Bryan who got his teeth knocked out, and hes at MW now with a chimp family
Got news for ya! Coco is not afraid of her handler. She is well taken care of. She sat with me on the beach in Cancun for a photo and then ran off with my drink. She takes photos with everyone. She is incorporating her on time-out from the crowds of people. She ate very, very well and in my opinion is not abused at all. She is a gentle and caring animal. I will always remember talking to a friend as we sat in the sand, and as I turned around, there she sat next to me like one of my children.
Who can tell what they r thinking except by their actions...she doesn't look stressed and at rest she is off visiting yet another human. Usually I can tell about horses and dogs, I raised all my life, chimps I know nothing, but most animals react basically the same. But I really love ur compassion. U r getting 2 b the uniquw spicies of this world.
You are absoutely right, I was referring to a personal beleif that this is unfair exploitation of this chimp. We don't know if she wants to be in those conditions. Taking pics with strangers all day so that her trainer can make money.
but i realy f*cking hate people like those arrogant twats that think its fun to make animals perform like that , there is no excuse,i hope this ape is taken away from those people and soon :(
No apologies...as I said it is sad, but the reality is that this does exist and whilst I was in another country and could not do much about it, there are factions that keep this sort of behaviour in check
In another video I had approached him rather brashly...didn't go down to well...but yeah I totally agree...some people will not give a damn tho...but alas, it's the world we live in. That's why we have org like PETA and Humane Soc.
Coco is the handler's, for all intents, wife. Who are we to judge!?

I am well aware of what you were saying. I just disagree. So we can agree to do so.

Ignorant people advocating animal abuse, that primate will have been beaten or drugged to act that calm. Totally disgraceful when will people learn?
