  • Good sized tuna, great to hear that your country is successfully sustaining your fish stocks for their preservation as well as future generations of up and coming fisher persons.

  • why where you smiling, if you just found $100.000 wholesale price and ``gave it back`` to the sea? I only once kept what I cought, cuzz mostly I release, but I`ld never let $100.000 slip out of my hands!!!

    well, anyways, good job man!

  • @ChateauSiran1986 Recreationally caught fish cannot be sold in new zealand, it is illegal. To sell fish, a commercial fishing license is required and for many species quota must be bought first... perhaps one the reasons why New Zealand is 1 of only 3 places left in the world where fish stocks are considered healthy.

  • @NzFisher

sorry for being so rude, I must have had a stressy time...lol...

well yea thats good actually, that way spiecies don't go away.

  • @NzFisher same as aust we can not sell to the restaurants either

  • Well done lads!

  • yeah boys tagging fish that are spent like that is a waste of time, they dont recover they never fuck themselves out like that unless you have them on 8mm playrope and all is lost. Then again im a longliner what do i know.

  • Fish was 10mins old mate not spent at all, they settle down the min you left lift there head from the water, 23 pop off sat tags have deployed on these fish on this boat alone, (the tag in this vid is just a standard gamefish tag though) for zero mortality, most were caught on rod and reel with fight time up 2 4 hours.

  • yep, roger that.

  • google 'bluewatermarinenz' (utube wont let me post link) have a look at tuna tagging section,

  • You don't know shit mate, The greymouth fishery is a major non commercial, tag and release fishery, tag returns and pop off sat. tags have proved the fish survive capture extremly well

  • google 'bluewatermarinenz' (utube wont let me post link) have a look at tuna tagging section, then come back and adjust your comment about a fishery you know NOTHING about!

  • @Shesabi89 how the hell did they waste a tunas life hu?

  • Nice tuna boys! no permit? that fish was about 800# would of dressed out at 550# worth about $5000 US what the hell did you let it go for?

  • It's illegal for recreational fishers in Nz to sell there fish, good thing to, the commercial guys don't tend to have a lot of intrest in this particular group of fish so the fishery is predominitly reacreational , greater than 70% of fish caught are generally released.

  • Where da fish go?

  • Screw jazzercise, its all about hand line tuna taggin' - good job guys, one hell of a work out.
