As already told you, I'm a keyboardplayer and symphonic composer as well and after a repeated listen to this "A Cup...", I think that "Shadowland" is a better place to start with them, for a more personal stuff;otherwise I prefer the contemporary prog bands like After Crying, Sagrado Coracao da Terra, Echolyn and Anglagard (this latter 70's oriented); in the 70's Mirtharandyr's "For you the old women" were an original reply to Yes and Gentle Giant.Today there are a few really "progressive" bands
I'm a progressive keyboardplayer from Milan (Italy) and I think of "Lex Rex" as one of the best efforts by Glass Hammer, even though sometimes They're a bit prolix and not too much original in the composition:the style is often in the vein of the early Yes:probably with Shadowlands They start to find a more personal path.My favourite prog bands are After Crying, Echolyn, Anglagard, regarding the contemporary bands, then of course the "70's Dinosaurs": Yes- UK-Camel- Renaissance-ELP, etc.
I Just learned about Glass Hammer about a month ago. I have 3 cd's by them now. Just purchased "If" and "Chronometree". Then I was fortunate enough to find a used copy of "The Inconsolable Secret"
I will acquire their whole catalog, I'm sure. Everything I've heard by them thus far is great.
I'm a Progressive addict. I like Yes, Nektar, Mike Oldfield, Tangerine Dream, Pink Floyd, ELP, Yes, PFM, Focus, King Crimson, Early Genesis, Rush & Renaissance among others, and these guys fit right in!
@thegalaxybeing It's funny, I just found them, too. I don't have ANY of the albums you have, and I am totally blown away. I've got "Shadowlands", "Three Cheers for the Broken Hearted", "Evermore", "Perelandra", and "Lex Rex". I will be getting all of them, they are absolutely amazing. The fact they're not on your local radio station says everything you need to know about the music business.
Okay, this song is just plain incredible. Progressive rock at it's finest. Props to the folks of Glass Hammer.
