They have also cut back on production. It's not an enviornment to take risks. Why? because corruption at fannie and freddie collaped the housing bubble it created. Since, my opportunities to work have been cut drastically. Which sucks because I sacrificed all to get this far.

The govt takes what IT wants, takes care of their political supporters (see elite class) and grinds the peasants into the ground. No hospital in the U.S. is allowed to turn away patients, no matter their ability to pay. The illegals are the ones who have messed this up so bad that hospitals are closing.

Talking about radicals in The White House is fucking insane. He is implying that Bush's policies were not radical. This is absolutely insane. Bush broke the law multiple times. Bush gave tax cuts based on how much you earn, meaning the more you have the more you get. You think this is not radical? This stuff is way scarier than Van Jones having a mind of his own. McCarthy was right--as the Venona Project showed all too abundantly. But don't take my word for it: just read Venona: Deconding Soviet Espionage in America, by Haynes and Klehr. Obviously this is not directed toward our 'progressive' (read social democratic) friends here--this is for the non-ideological out there who are interested in the anti communist perspective.

@jazzfan5000 No, my point is that McCarthy was pointing out the existence of soviet spies in the govt. in the Late '40s, early '50s which was being at the same time documented by the FBI's Venona program, which corroborates McCarthy's admittedly crude but useful efforts. One may be a principled leftist, but one must be careful of one's own blind spots, and this issue was, and remains, a big one for a left/liberal. Reason requires objectivity as to facts, even when they go against you.

Also, "words,words,words" is not an argument, in case you haven't noticed. Also--you probably see this issue arising because it is relevant and necessary to a just estimate of McCarthy's career.

Now, as to the current fascination with all this: the lesson of McCarthy is that left/liberals had a blind spot about it, and that they thus tend unwittingly to abet the totalistic and revolutionizing politics of the kind that conservatives fear the Obama administration has brought on board. Agree or not, it is a coherent view.

Around this time, there were committees set up to perform these investigations. However, McCarthy took it too far and made bold statements such as claiming that (for example) the Columbia Broadcast Service was aiding the communist party in America along with those who watched the station. You really think that's the statement of a rational person?

@jazzfan5000 You're referring to McCarthy's reply to Murrow on See It Now, I believe, where he read from communist publications and their praise of Murrow's program as consistent with their aims, as well as their emphasis on the struggle against 'McCarthyism.' Murrow was a significant disseminator of opinion and ideas at CBS--hence McCarthy's charge. Disagree with the facts, but it is logical and coherent--not irrational. You'll have to produce something more persuasive than that.
