In my opinion, MuteMath is better than Radiohead. Don't get me wrong, Radiohead is great music, but MuteMath can just take you into this happening groove and just stay there like no other rock band out there right now. I love that. And their drummer. Don't get me started on him. Best drummer out there right now.
They're usually different moods, so it's hard to claim that, but for their specific speed MuteMath is hard to rival. From the videos I've seen the live shows are fucking fantastic, and the music... well, obviously that's good.
?? i don't understand the radiohead comparison, both bands sound pretty different to me. Although they both tend towards the electro-atmospheric- ambient sounds, the character is just..totally different.. radiohead sounds more chaotic and disorganised in melody to me, mutemath has more of a groove and melody thing gg simliar to trance/techno music... i dunno, the comparison just seems off. Try Paramore and Hey Monday for a comparison haha
what?! dude ernestoraad?! how can you say radiohead sucks in comparison? they are both equally amazing and you obviously do not know what radiohead has done for indie music.wow you dont have to like radiohead but you cross a line when you say they suck...
I at least agree that it's not original sounding...
The drummer does definitely hold the band together as well. Radiohead is totally better and I don't think Mute Math is completely stealing from them... and around where i live, there are lots of bands in the city that sound like this.. and actually better at making this kind of music honestly. Heh. I still think mute math is amazing and creative though. So nobody take that as a diss. It is not.
There are only so many different notes and so many unique distinguishable timbres -- as well as rhythms. Take the world down as a huge calculation of probability taking down the factors of what sequences of sounds that the human enjoys listening to. THEN, find a jam band.
No one's ripped off of anyone. When you hear a band truly play what's in their mind and heart, then you'll hear similarities, but no carbon copies. I respect and listen to both bands.
ive had the honor of seeing this band twice live, once before they got big then again at voodoo fest this year...even with rage against the machine and smashing pumpkins playing at voodoo, this band still took my award for best performance.
everybody who reads this should know that mutemath are just about the most impressive live band i have had the pleasure i seeing...i saw them by chance and was completely moved. this is my favourite on the album. go and see this band...i assure you they will blow you away.
This is amazing....experimental rock is the greatest, take broken social scene has an example and the feel good lost album, it's just great..nothing like a little imagination and creativity.
Man, drummer!!! Nigga!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone else notice the distinct influence from Radiohead's "Everything in Its Right Place"?
smetzger151 2 years ago
Yeah, I did. the electronic sound in the beginning is almost the same as the rhythm from Radioheads.

i've never been to a Radiohead show, butr i'd like to be; watching this 9the live electronic part) reminded me of a IKMFDM show.
but then i don't go to many /anything/ shows, if that seems like a stretch to anyone.
point being it was fucking awesome and looks like a feat to someone as musically inept as me.

Let's take this into consideration:
There are only so many different notes and so many unique distinguishable timbres -- as well as rhythms. Take the world down as a huge calculation of probability taking down the factors of what sequences of sounds that the human enjoys listening to. THEN, find a jam band.
