@ThePrestonChannel... I agree! It's a real shame.... Each generation seems to care accumulatively less about leaving structural or Humanitarian legacies to their children. They behave as if THEIR generation is the only one that matters. I don't personally think the world is going to blow up anytime soon... We should preserve all that is left of our heritage.. Of the past... Symbols of the GREAT things that mankind is capable of....
This was constructed to carry the Thirlmere Aqueduct. Look it up on Google images. The access gates are a giveaway, you'll see these throughout the course of th aqueduct run, from Thirlmere to Heaton park. The Chorley to Blackburn line ran a few miles north, Heapy, White Coppice, Withnell, Abbey Village and onwards.
@TheBigcheese74 So is water still actually flowing through this pipeline as we speak. If I recall correctly something a colleague told me a while back, the Thirlmere Aqueduct carries water from the Lake District to Manchester?
