  • Omg ! Kawaii !

  • I must try this some time. :) Can you see where the hat is glued together? If so can you hide it somehow?

  • It looks so adorable! I can't wait to make one. :3

  • What song is playing in this video?

  • Cool vid I'm probly gonna make a whole bunch of theese now

  • WHAT ARE THE SONGS!??! :D SOUNDS LIKE VOCALOID!!

  • wow..that was so pretty and cute

  • look cute, but mad ghettoo lol

  • I made mine with felt and a foam cup

  • oh my godness it's so pretty

  • I make mine with really stiff felt and handsew it. It lasts longer (and looks a bit better) that way.

  • but how can i do a hat like that if i don´t have that felt sheets with one sticky side?

  • kinda messy but gd try :) better thn i could do anyway :)

  • very cute but you could do something about the edges if you want they doseant look so good but i like your presto felt, we dont have it here in sweden

  • @Supersnegler96 If you have a Walmart there (is walmart worldwide yet 0.0?) they usually have one or two packs of it in the craft section! That's where I'm getting mine~

PS awesome video, thank you so much!

  • omg i have a 300degree gluegun and it broke and the hot glue got all over my left hand and leg and i had 3rd degree burns down to my musle tissue and its still not healed worst pain in my life, worse than breaking a bone ;/

  • this is cool! Could you sew it too if you wanted? OO

  • thanks so much for making this video I was looking for a top hat at hot topic and alot of other stores but I couldnt find it so I ended up buying a different type of hat thingy If I only saw this video first oh well I'll just start making my top hat now :(

  • this looks fun

  • So cute!! I so glad I found a video on how to make them!!! Do they sell sticky felt anywhere? Or did you buy your's online? Great work!!!

  • great video! the hat was so friken cute!!

  • Would fabric glue work just as well?

    I like this though!

  • wow:] i <333 gothic lolita:]]]] thanx i wanto make wonnn!but maybe not a glue pen...

  • Where did you purchase the felt at?

  • AWESOME!!!!!! :))))))))

  • Very cute!

Thanks for making this video. I cant wait to try this out for my steampunk outfits :)

  • great video! :)

  • sorry but it came out kinda ugly.... u should practice ur glue cuz thats the worse glue to use for fashion art! and well decorating is not ur thing...try taking arts and crafts at michaels or something...

  • @8swil3y8 i actually think it came out kinda good. i mean it's just a tutorial. the way i see the video is how to make a top hat... basically i'll use my own colors and designs and inspirations to go on from there.

  • Yay now i know how to make one

i dont have to shop anymore!!!!

  • would normal felt be okay? pshh apparently they don't sell "presto" felt here

  • Hey what is this song!!??? Please let me know, I really liked it, also the vid :)

  • que fofa

  • whats the names of the songs

  • whats the names of the songs

  • Comment removed

  • Thank you.this is a very good video ebcause you show and also slowly and write what to do as well so it's easy to understand. ^-^

  • whats the song?

  • its a very good tutorial, glueguns work really well, iv made about 8 tophats for myself, and i find if you cut around your actual circle and make flaps then fold the flaps in and glue then together it looks so good its as if you brought it!. Also you can add a bit of tule for that viel look, its really cheap and gives it a very elegant touch

  • Would black foam sheets be an Ok replacement for the felt?

  • @animefanH Foam sheets aren't a very good substitute. If that's all you can get your hands on and you only need to wear the hat once or twice, as part of a costume maybe, then it could work, but the foam gets scratched and bent very easily. If you want the hat to be a permanent accessory, you should definitely use felt. Foam sheets could be handy to practice with, though. I've also gotten wonderful results by gluing velvet and other materials to posterboard and following the same basic steps.

  • the tutorial is pretty good...but the final result is messy because od the silicon glue.I suggest you to use the "leather glue",it will be much easier because it doesn't dry as fast. You can even glue a thin leather or satin ribbon on the ends that match the color of the basic hat.Another little trick when doing the cylinder is to glue inside a ribbon to keep the two parts together, it will be firmer and will avoid messy glue drops.Keep up the good work!

  • I've always wanted one of these hats but they are always too expensive (especially for being so small!)

Thank you for making this tutorial, I'm going to have to try this =D

  • thats really cool :D

  • Do you really must use e glue gun, can´t you just use glue that dry fast?

  • Cool little hat. I def. gonna make a few of these. I'll be sure to show you mine when I'm done. Thanx!

  • nice!!!!

  • what's the PRESTO felt or where can i found it??? please say to my:)

  • coool!!! love the mini top hat...(^_^)

  • i love it, I love the Japanese fashion can you do and for j-rock there cloths are cool

  • you should put a jewel in the middel of the last bow...

  • what's this song?

these are great, i'm gonna make some to wear to college :)

  • I just got the felt and ribbons so I'm gonna make it now! :D too bad they don't have purple so I used black instead. :)

  • i love the playlist haha

  • i made one yesterday! ^^

    thanks for the video!

  • i made one of these based off of this video it turned out really cute but i used a stiff felt not the sticky stuff and it turned out great the stiff fealt is about 20 cents cheaper than the sticky felt so i went with cheaper but i do love this way of making them so you all should try it

  • Hooray for Lolita!

  • what music is this?

  • I'm just IN LOVE with lolita fashion !!!!! I really like the hat adn how did you ever know how to make these:) ? Cutest thing ever;)

  • this is very informative! i will use these ideas! thankyou! keep up the good work!

  • this is great~! thanks

btw, were did u buy the presto felt? i can't find any XP

  • I found some at wal-mart. Right next to the regular fabric :D

  • They sell these hats at claries

    :D love the vid!!

  • omygoddess!! I make my own lolita hats too but I usually just buy the doll hats then decorate them it never occurred to me that I could make them and save me some money lol btw yur hat's purty hehe

  • this helps so much thank you :3

  • You and i have the same bed sheets.

I am going to run out to Joanne fabrics and make hats now. thank you :3

  • fiz um mini hat E FICOU LINDO!, parecido com o seu =P

I am brazilian and thanks your help!

  • you use bobby pins or hair pins :D

  • i personally just buy the lil hats they have at the craft stores by the stuff for making doll outfits, I like tose, because they have the domed top ones too, but this was really cute!

  • @cherilyndria Same here. And I normally go for a more Steampunk-y Victorian look which the doll hats help accomplish. But I wanted a more lolita looking one to go with my collection. So if I do this, I think I shall do a lot of hand stitching rather than glue. Just too pesky dealing with all those little strings that come off the glue...

  • @xXprettyxkittyXx yeah, i hear you, it does get annoying, there is a quick drying glue i think by aleenes its a clear glue in a clear bottle, it doesnt "dry" fast, but gets tacky enough to work with, and its got a strong smell, but it is an option

  • try either bobby pinning to the rim of the hat, or i have some cute hair clips with marabou feathers on it, or you can attach a comb to the bottom, then you would want to tease your hair where you are putting the hat

  • It's cute, but the way the top is glued on, the glue is showing. You'd have to be really careful wearing something like that, because with the glue showing, it looks a bit cheap. Absolutely adorable, I love the video.

  • YAY i can make my own hat!...with my bought outfit XD

  • that was so incredibel KAWII and lollita is one of my favorits two (of japanese outfits) an harajuku is really cool

  • Heh, that's cute. I wish there were more gothic lolitas in the states... I always liked how artsy most are o_0

  • Thank youuuu! tommorow my bff b-day and ima make her one thanks!

  • I just finished making one thanks to your help

I'll put on a video response later

    Thanks again~ ^_^

  • totally made myself one of these. Thanx for the tutorial

I used poster board as my base instead of Felt *I didn't have any and was too lazy to go look for some* and coated it with some black velvet that I had left over from Halloween.

  • K A W A I I

  • im a lolita, and this is adorable!!!!!

  • I have to try this :D

  • how does it stay on your head O.o

  • put it on a headband, ribbon, or comb

  • @chelliexpie Where do you buy The combs? :)

  • @xredxrain super glue it to your head!!! haha jk, a ribbon would look super cute, but if you don't want that then a nice headband works. I can't use combs in my hair since it's super curly and knotty. so maybe if your top hat is small enough just have a simple clip glued under it. =]

  • super adorable (x

  • i made my frame out of carboard so i wont have the glue sticking out. and it looks stronger than that did. but super cute!

(im not lolita or anything i just wanted a little hat. lol)

  • wow, its so simple and easy^_^

Great idea to use a CD.

But I have a question - what did you do with glue on top? 'couse it looks... i don't know.. visible.

  • Thanks so much! I love Lolita Style ( or Really all Japanese Style) But I can't afford to buy a Ton of things because it can get expensive so thanks!!

  • Love this! I would rather make one than pay what ranges from 9 - 25 bucks on one!

  • what happen if i don`t have the paper ??

can i use other paper for this ??

help me T_T i really like this style!! !!!!!!!!

  • use cardboard and/or a soup can :]

  • kawaii!

  • awesome

  • Loving the tutorial <3

What's the song in the vid btw?

  • loved this vid <3 always wanted one of those lil top-hats!

  • Suggestion/Recommendation: Use Fabri-Tac to glue ribbons and the felt. It's is great and you don't burn your fingers. I highly recommend it!

  • I agree, or tack styled fabric glue works great as well; especially with tweezers when you want to add lil fabric flowers or gems or mini jewelry charms to the ribbon bows. :D

  • how adorable! <3

i shall make one.....as soon as i get my other fashion projects done hehe

  • cute cute cute cute cute!!!!!!!!!

  • very nice tutorial. maybe this can be a little help, i don't know if you tired or not, but to save felt, couldn't you trace the circular rectagle part in the center of the big circle and use the cut out as the top?

  • I know I made a little headband/head piece thing out of satin, lace, and this stiffening fabric with elmers glue, ya know the kind they give you in first grade at school, it worked too! I wonder if it'd work for this.

  • omg finally i found someone who likes makig these hats too. I just started making them a bit ago but they're so much fun. I just made a cute lacy white one with black details today. It's my official new hobby lol. one difference is i make mine with fabric and cardboard as a base so its a little more heavy.

  • how would i put hair clips on the hat?
