  • well said Midget :) Joe is Legend :)

  • the clash THE ONLY BAND tht mattered.

joe strummer the ONLY MAN THT MATTERED

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOE! <3

  • Thanx from an ex Clash City Rebel Rudeboy Rocka.

  • I dont know why 1hotguitar have thumbs down...I dont know you guys but I never felt that this great man was dead...If you go to the bar, turn on the radio, watch music on tv, listen music in your room...there is he and his wonderful music with that magnificent band...THE CLASH until the end of the days.

  • did he die?

  • I THINK IT'S BEAUTIFUL..*___* it makes me cry :'(

  • 7 years its been. *sigh*

    we miss you JOE <3

  • R.I.P PROFET

  • When Joe died, the world got alot less interesting. R.I.P. JOE

  • Legend.... !

  • What's the name of this wonderful song?I'm afraid to not know his title

  • It is a cover of Bob Marley's 'Redemption Song' and this version can be found on the Mescaleros' album 'Streetcore'. A better version, which is a duet with Johnny Cash, is also available on the Cash album 'Unearthed'.

  • Thank you =]

  • truly loved the man, and spoke to him a few times, but I'm not feelin' this cover. (then again i don't like the song!) OK , NOW HATE ME.

  • Great fella.

  • There never will be noone better. We'll always miss you joe

  • God, Joe Strummer, I fucking love you.

  • prize man

  • 6 years...

    R.I.P. Joe!

  • On the Anniversary of the Death of Joe Strummer......

    Why do we grow old?

your gone, the world is empty

    loneliness floods in.

  • Strummer's 6th anniversary of his death is tomorrow RIP JOE

  • Great job on the video..all respect I was just listening to silver and gold on streetcore with my three yr old daughter, and she says daddy why are you upset. how do you explain? it's going on six years since the day I got in the car to go to work, and I heard the news. Very influential part of my life...and many others.

  • It's still so sad to know that he's gone, even years later. There is a hole in the music industry that will never be filled again. RIP Joe

  • What song is this? Was it made by him when he was in Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros?

    Need to purchase...

  • The song is called 'Redemption Song', and is on the album 'Streetcore' by Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros. However, there is a much better version, where Joe does a duet with Johnny Cash. It is on the Johnny Cash 5-disc compilation 'Unearthed', and is track number 1 (I think) on disc 5 (I think).

  • Thanks, I just bout the album Streetcore. It's probably one of my best music purchases. I'll look for the duet version later. Thanks again.

  • No, this is a Bob Marley song

  • Yeah, it's Bob Marley. But this version is by Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros. Johnny Cash duet is by far the best version of this song tough.

  • happy brithday joe. he would have been 56 today. 1952 - 2002

  • So sad, no more their music echo's can you tell me how he passed?

  • yeah sure. he congenital heart defect, where an artery passed through his heart, rather than around his heart, which also means he could have died at any point in his 50 year life

  • rip joe strummer i wish he was stll alive

  • Cos years have passed and things have changed

and I move anyway I wanna go,

I'll never forget the feeling I got

when I heard that you were home,

And I'll never forget the smile on my face

Cos I knew where you would be,

And if you're in the crowd tonight

    Have a drink on me,

Go easy... Step lightly... Stay free...

Joe ... you will never be forgotten!!!

  • Even though I didn't know him personally, he made a huge difference in my life and I miss him every day. RIP Joe, the world is worse place for losing you, but still a far better one for having had you. Wherever you are, stay free.

  • Thank you Sarah for you comment! You made me cry. :'( This is the greatest comment I've ever read on YT! Again, thank you and STAY FREE!!!

RIP J✪E! We Will Miss You! :'(

  • I wish to god I could have seen the Clash play, but I wasn't born until they were on the verge of splitting. I stupidly turned my nose up at the idea of seeing him with the Mescaleros, insisted it wouldn't be the same. I'd love nothing better than to see him sing the phone book now. What I wouldn't give to have met the great man, and seen him play before his death. I'll regret that for the rest of my life.

  • Thinking of him made me feel that maybe there was some hope left for mankind after all, that maybe things would be ok. I physically felt the world become a darker place the day he died. He's not just some guy in some band, he touched people's lives in a way so few can. He was truly special.

  • It's not just about music, the man was an absolute hero. He was and is an inspiration to the rest of us in his bravery, loyalty, honesty and the fact he couldn't be bought. In a world of sell-outs and bullshit, he was one thing you could always rely on, as well as an icon of good in a world full of shit.

  • Lovely video, very touching. The sadness of Joe's death never eases, the tragedy of losing him is never diminished. But since it turns out the heart defect that robbed us all of him could have struck him down any time, it seems the world was lucky beyond words to have him as long as it did. There will never be another like him, there's only one Joe Strummer.

  • Rest in peace Joe Strummer, you are really star!!! Your Punk is not dead!!!

  • five years today, people. Five years ago, this great man was taken from us. Taken way too early. Let him live on in the hearts of all of us.

    Rest In Peace

    Joe Strummer

    1952-2002

    Never Forgotten

  • 5 years.Fuck, Joe is a hero to the working class.

  • Not in the ground but in spirit.

  • It's weird, the day before he passed, they showed a special on him on VH1. Really caught me off guard when he died. A true Rock legend. RIP Joe Strummer.

  • He's been dead since 2002, but I still can't believe that he's gone. Forever in my heart Joe.

  • I seen him being interviewed early in 20002

the next thing I heard is he was dead.I was stunned,I will always remember him from the combat rock tour when he stopped playing and

stopped the bouncers from belting some lads down near the stage.A true great R.I.P. Joe you were the soundtrack to my early years.

  • Happy Birthday to Joe Strummer!

  • A great man and a fantastic musician with strong priciples and a kind heart - a shame it wasn't able to give you the long life you deserved. RIP Joe - you will never be forgotten by those who grew up listening to your music.

  • wow that brought a lump to my throat, joe strummer is a legend RIP joe,the world is a poorer place with out him.

  • furs4030, i HOPE you're not talking to me, because i think you'll find i have listened to all the clash albums more than enough. and the mescaleros albums. oh, and london calling wasn't THE best clash album, buts its still fucking amazing everytime i listen to it in english lesson

  • Joe Strummer was a founding member of the Clash. The band broke up. John Mellor became an actor and a

founder of the band the Mescalleros. He was successful at all he touched. I loved both these men. They both leave an enormous void in my life. Seeing and posting these messages help me cope with this loss. I don't mean to disrespect, I guess I just have to vent.

  • Absolutely beautiful. Thanks very much for this. Joe was my hero. Even now, it's hard to believe he's gone. You've created a lovely tribute. Thanks for everything, Joe.
