  • I guess I should steer all of you who have never heard the original duet of Bonnie Campbell and Merle Haggard do their version, I say this with no reservations, it is hauntingly, achingly, tearwrenching beer drinking stuff, or stronger. Bonnie and Merle sang some deep stuff, not the fluff covers of their stuff. Listen to their early stuff, stark, gritty, uncluttered, and some of the best duet material ever recorded. Oh, and by the way, I do adore Porter and Dolly!

  • Renger29, before you make a statement like that, I suggest you listen to Bonnie Campbell (Owens) sing this, and her and the man who wrote it, Merle Haggard sing this as a duet, nothing comes close to their version---NOTHING!!!

  • the version from the dutch Country Band 'The Tumbleweeds' (1978) is BY FAR the best performance of this song. !!!
