Yes, boomer, the entire system is rigged. Nobody wants to address the elephant in the room: namely that healthcare should not considered as a commodity. It should be non-profit, period.
I wonder how much of the US budget is eaten up by the military industrial complex. If that were cut back just a little, you could probably pay for a decent medical program quite easily.
I'm from Canada , and yeah I pay more taxes for my single payer- but if you factor in what you guys pay for your insurance, guess what , I pay less than you
I've often wondered about that but didn't know anyone from Canada to ask. I personally would love a single payer system here in the states but because the insurance industry is one sixth of our economy, that makes a whole lot of people nervous about the gov control of that big a piece of the pie. Yet they don't seem to mind the military industrial complex at all..go figure.
Insurance companies and banks have limited power here, we have blue cross, but that is supplemental insurance that covers cosmetic surgery and dental work. They keep trying(our conservative government) to privatize health but as soon as they start talking about it, we get rid of them - those who mess with our health care usually find themselves out of a job at the next election- we have zero tolerance for them
Boomer Hope you're feeling better. I have a family policy through work. I'm paying through the nose every month. Every year it gets more expensive. The current system has ran its course.
Thanks, I'm on the mend now and back at work. The company I work for meets it lawful duty in providing health care coverage by offering only AFLAC. The co doesn't pay anything, the whole expense of the coverage falls on the employee. So you can imagine the cost. I can't afford it.
Yes it is and I watched a little seen video earlier about a kid who's one visit to the emergancy, via a ambulance, for a kidney stone cost him $10,000. He had no insurance and of course was not able to pay cash. This is how people go bankrupt. You can't tell me and examination for a kidney stone cost that much, no matter what test they did. Robbery plain and simple.
No it isn't. The $10k paid for people like you who don't buy health insurance and then get free medical care because they don't have the money to pay the tab.
Stop smokin' cigs, stop drinkin', stop eating all your food prepared and you can afford health insurance. Or, get an education so you can get a decenty job so you can get health insurance from an employer. OIn other words. Get off your ass and get a job.
Who is the troll? I said "if". You can think as you wish. I am aware it is your right to do so. You and your kind only "think" that right extends to those who "think" as you do.
Your first comment was one that was full of insults and accusations that had no basis in fact. That is exactly what a Troll does, to excite confrontation. Now your crying because I called you what you are? How old are you again? 10?
It means liberals. In the same inflection and respect with which liberals refer to conservatives.
First, I wasn't talking to you.
Second, I authored a response to justjac in the same tone as his original post. You entered the exchange with an uninformative smartass remark. That makes YOU, the troll. Now, stop your whinin'.
Yep! Insurance is a scam. Health care reform? Another scam. And, the biggest control factor in all this madness? FEAR. Open your eyes! You have nothing to fear but the medical system that had got you hook, line, & sinker.
We agree on the fact that the system is broke but look at the bankrupt social security, medicare, cash for clunkers and cash for appliances...who are the socialist or fascist running our Government? It is just about to BUST! I also believe inflation is the reason for most of our problems...the hidden TAX! VAT is next!
I'm not old enough for Medicare and not poor enough for Medicaid. I have a job, work full time but the insurance the co offers is too expensive. This is the first time in over 7 yrs that I've been ill enough to see a doctor, I do take care of myself.
I am really glad you are feeling better girl. I think every uninsured person can relate.
We Need A Public Option Plan!
Anyone who has questions regarding the public option may be able to find the answers in the comment section of my profile. I have a wide variety of resources and information including the ez to read version of the bill and several ways in which you can become more involved.
I think the public option could pick up the 55 million uninsured. It will be expensive, but we could afford if we just cut back on our defense spending.
I think saving lives in America is better then dropping million dollar bombs on mud huts in Afghanistan.
it must create legal windows for doctors to abuse the system, and since they go into medicine with the intent of being as rich as lawers, the primary intent is that...money, not health...no wonder the medical establishment is corrupt, the powerful drug companies manipulate government in order to create an incentive to share in the possibility of generalized corruption, co-opt doctors, and fuck over the people. Private or public...corruption is the problem.
Cool...let's get rid of all insurance and we'll pay less. i bet that would work with car insurance too. I say we make all the rich people pay for our health insurance ...you know people who make more than 25k a year. Anything over that amount is rich in my opinion....just ask anyone making minimum wage.
you're very naive about this one...would take a book to explain why. Peace.

Yeah , just eat crackers and drink water, don't go out, don't drive don't do anything or you won't be able to pay your health insurance.

Please don't associate Ron Paul's name with this. He couldn't be more against HR 3200, as I'm sure you know. Some people might get confused. Thanks.

Health insurance reform...yes
No to Government Control and expansion!
I thought you were pretty smart until this video...
The answer seems to pay cash as you did instead of asking the Government to save you!
Mr1openmind 2 years ago
Seems to me your asking that the gov save you from big Insurance but not to interfere in anything. That doesn't make sense.
If the gov doesn't do something..you would scream they don't care about the little guy, only corp.
They try and do something and you start screaming ..Gov Control!!
Just what do you want..I would say the status quo and that's where we all continue to be screwed.

I think you missed the point. But maybe getting rid of insurance and going single payer is the better way of doing thing for health care.
