@koolkevinc It was on our model. I do hope it was just a fluke, because I do really like Samsung's design and quality. Thanks for watching & commenting.
thanks alot Zev you just helped me make my decision on my upgrade im going to get the vibrant because my friend has the captivate and he was bragging about having a better phone but tomorrow will end that and im glad they fixed the lag problem :)
im getting this pfone so im wondering if the lag problem is still there because i cant find on the internet that samsung is trying to fix the problem .
i see al these "lag fixes" on youtube so why cant samsung bring an official update 2 solve it so i don"t have to "break" my phone ? thx 4the time btw sorry 4 the bad english
I guess they fixed the lag issue before they released.. I have The Samsung Vibrant and I have had none of these issues at all my phone runs fast and smooth, I love it.. Best Smart Phone you can get right now and with the Android 2.2 coming out in oct it will be even better. I use my phone ALOT texting, games all kinds of apps and it seems to handle everything.. The Display is the best and TouchWiz3.0 works very well on top of android. Battery life is at least 1 day + and thats with non stop use.
This is the only thing that is bogging down the phone. Once they fix this, it is truly one of the, if not the fastest mobile processor in the world. Samsung did a great job on this as they have some pretty extensive know-how in making microprocessors. They are on track to become the biggest chip maker in the world, bigger than Intel in the next few years.
Its not the Touch Wiz wrapper that is the problem. It is the I/O interface, specifically the file partition on the internal storage. They are using a proprietary RFS file system rather than the standard linux file partition.

@battl3fr0nt Good to hear it! Overall the phone is designed well and the hardware is more than capable.

@ConceptVBS Agreed, the hardware is great, and the chips are going to be a real contender.

@ConceptVBS You're right. I should have said filesystem, rather than touchwiz.
I'll throw the link in the show notes for the temporary workaround until they release a complete update.
