just so you guys know, so you dont end up criticizing everybody, this album is often found to be referred to as their sophomore one (as weird as it sounds) because none of their other CDs were meant to be considered albums. gareth said in an interview that for artistic reasons, we are beautiful, we are doomed is supposed to be an EP er something. its confusing..

There is no meaning behind the band's name. It was merely something to do with one of the members once being able to speak Spanish a bit. It's meant to be completely random and pointless.

I'm Spanish and I don't know why are you saying that it's insullting, it's like if I make a band and call us The Farmers, it wouldn't be a insult for you , right?

I don't know who are they but maybe they have a reason to make a band wth that name, but I think that most of you are thinking that all Mexican people are farmers, don't think so, they are like you in England or Nord America or like me here in Spain, so change your mind, you're not the midle of the world.

in my country, the word campesino is used mostly to refer to people from the country side, people that had not been exposed to the city life, and for people that speaks in a certain way. But that is just in my country. I don't find it in any way as an insult that these guys named their band campesinos. they are the ones calling themselves campesinos and they're not hispanic... on the contrary, i like their music so i consider it a compliment...

my gosh, why is insulting?? It´s a name like any other. And why for mexicans? Mexicans are not all farmers, and I think that people who is farmer is proud of it like if they have other job, sometimes this job is harder than others.

I don´t know why is insulting. People do not know what to do to criticize something...

It probably doesn't have the same kind of connotations for them - they're British, and they just chose it cause one of the band members spoke/speaks Spanish.

@donthinkimnormal I am mexican and my parents were farmers and nooo this is not insulting at all. Why should it be?? I not all mexicans are farmers and I know bands in mexico that choose american names for their group and I don't find that insulting eighter. I would be insulting if this group called themselves "Los Mexicans" then I would want to question why... Why don't you try figuring out why they call themselves that before you start feeling "insulted."
