What makes this game so sad, is the fact that it is barely a sequel. Sure, it is kinda fun, but every step I take, and every bullet I shoot makes me think:
"Christ, this is one lazy ass product."
It is not worth a purchase in my opinion, better off sticking with the first one. Crackdown 2 is Crackdown 1 with bad make up on.
The game does feel like a step backwards from the original, aside from the transforming vehicles, you can no longer go inside buildings for some odd reason too. and what's the point of being able to choose what your character looks like if he wears a fucking helmet???
But I did think the UV bomb set up was a one off thing, until I kept doing it over and over and over. The original gang hierarchy thing was a lot more involving.
@ScrewAttackEurope DanGT: It's a real shame isn't it? I can't figure out what they've been doing for 3 years. I've been mostly orb collecting and leaping about across the city, and spreading out the bomb detonations.
@GameTankTV It's a hard game to review really, it's a good game, but it's good because Crackdown 1 was good. and this is almost exactly the same. though a step back.
There should have been bosses in the game, you can go for any of them, but some you can't defeat until you're a certain level Etc.
@ScrewAttackEurope DanGT: It was very tough to review. I'm getting on OK with it but like you said it's beacuse of the first one! I feel a kind of loyalty. And I really WANT to like it. It's such a huge gameworld, we just need more to do. DLC perhaps. Hmm.
@GameTankTV Indeed, you're essentially reviewing a game that came out three years ago, Ruffian gave it a minimal amount of polish and slapped a 2 on it. Look kids, it's a new game, honest! It's got a 2 on the end and everything!
Then again, that's what EA have been doing for years anyway, (THQ too now with the WWE games)
Reason why people bought crackdown 1: Halo beta :p But loved the original one, unfortunately this one lacks the best things from the original, the upgrading vehicles and the boss battles. Honestly if you play crackdown 2 first and then play crackdown 1 you wouldve thought 2 was a prequel. Me and Guru Larry have been playing co op, using helicopters and stapling enemys to vehicles with harpoon guns never gets old :p
