I remember seeing a clip of Annette singing this song song on American Bandstand from 1960. Annette was so gorgeous in her hawaiian print dress wearing a crown on her head as she danced the hula to this very cute song. Annette said in an interview that this song was her favorite of all the songs she recorded and it got to # 11 on the billboard music chart. Thank you so much for posting this.
"Beachcombing Royalty" means "King and Queen of the Beachcomers". Wicky, wacky..." is poetic license. You not liking something that is not of you r generation is to be expected. I don't like the tuneless artless screeching about beating up you B...h that your generation likes.
sure wish youtube would let people upload the old beach party movies. silly stuff but fun to watch anyhow. love annette. she was my idea of the perfect girl growing up.
Thank you for posting this very cute song by the lovely and talented ANNETTE. She sang this song when she appeared at Westbury Music Fair with Frankie Avalon in 1990. This is in NY on Long Island. She also sang Tall Paul at that concert. I only wish she had also sung her other hits - First Name Initial and O Dio Mio. Still though - it was such a thrill to see her perform in person. Sadly - she does not make any more public appearances due to health reasons. Annette we will always love you.
"Pineapple Princess" peaked at #11 in 1960 in the U.S. I have her Lp Hawaiiannette, which peaked at #38 in 1960. I actually have all of her Vista Lps from 1959-65. They are all in mint condition too. I do have the soundtrack from "How To Stuff A Wild Bikini" , which featured only two song, "Perfect Boy" and "You Better Be Ready" As you can see, I LOVE me some Annette!! I do have her "Country Album" from 1984, not to mention many compilation CD's from Japan.
Annette is okey by me. Her first name initial and Pineapple Princess are amoungst my favorites by her..and she had a few top 40 hits. Dreamboy is perhaps the favorite if not Mr. Piano Man. Thanks4 posting..now to find that Dreamboy.
Dave Barry brought me here. I'm afraid this song will haunt me as well...

Another terrifically catchy tune that mysteriously missed the UK Top 50.
