Content aware fill is good but dont forget it just copies things which are next to it. Doesnt work in many situations but still good

I saw a demo in person with that same content aware fill demo with the horse on the grass and I was sold. I kept waiting for them to say "just kidding, we're good, but that's impossible." Surprisingly, the feature was real. Possibly the most amazing thing I've ever seen done with a computer. I've tried it on my own once I got PS CS5. The results have been mixed, but in general, content aware fill does an amazing job.

Hi everybody, for all of you that use Photoshop, Premiere Pro and After Effects, I've put together a notepad called Handy Links For Windows 7. Now I´ve done this over and over but in the end when hit shift+delete, the selected picture is cut out.(and canvas show in the cut out area) Have cs 5.1. Sometimes in other pictures I can make it like you do but then only when hit delete.

There is something you don´t explain..

(for example, is it a new layer, with cancas on the top in layerpanel. Where did that come from??

Every time I use Content Awareness, the background (where the object use to be) seems to be a little blurry. Is that normal? I've seen in animation productions, they have something similar to Content Awareness, but they are much more powerful as in no blur in the background when eliminating objects, in other words, less clean-up. I have to clean-up every time I eliminate something. Can this be done with Adobe Photoshop CS5?

Content Aware Fill only works with chaotic backgrounds like trees and grass.

Or straight lines and structures like the fence which can be extrapolated easily.

It's no black magic, it's just replication of leaves and grass and a lot of patience to do it over and over again.

i am graphic designer with 20 years of experience, and 16 years using photoshop, and i must say 4 features are kinda useless (professsionally, making a +300 ppi resolution for a print master) but the HORSE one... THAT IS THE BEST BY FAR in CS5. Great video by the way. Cheers.

I can't help wondering how many times the Content Aware Fill had to be run, undone and re-run before this result was achieved. The video obviously made it look like this was the first attempt. That said, CAF is an amazing feature and I'd happily re-run the process ad nauseum until I got the result that I wanted. :-)

That really is a neat capability with the content aware fill. I am curious however....what do you do about shadows? Though it doesn't seem a problem in the instance with the horse...but what if your target has a very pronounced shadow? I notice the horse has a little bit of a shadow...what if you want to move that with your horse? Also, the content aware feature seems to build the background based on what's around it....are there ways to adjust this?
