  • That's one resilient piece of wood! =/

  • how do i get some, i have terrible stump problems

  • @scor9977 Make it. Also I detect some sarcasm ;)

  • @RadioTrefoil sarcasm....hmmm, no and i dont know how to make it and the chemicals are probably to hard to get.

  • Greart video!! was that a Mcdonalds straw you used for the detinator caseing?!?? hahahah anyway that was very cool, could you really use flash powder to set etn off? We make it from all sorts of metals and chlorates etc... We have never tryed AP yet but are looking to make a batch.Keep posting gave a thumbs up too Joseph T fly2000jtb

  • you shouldnt use AP for detonator... if that is blowing on your face you head is flying as nice as the bricks. you can detonate it with matchheads or flashpowder.

  • holy shit i think you sent those rocks into orbit...

  • "Hissssssssss BOOM weeoweeoweeoweeeo" :D

  • Very nice charge, I love how it sets off a car alarm in the distance.

  • Car alarm :D

  • where do you get erythritol ?

  • Well, you get the prize for having the biggest etn charge on youtube... crazy stuff.

  • how many grams were in that blasting cap?

  • @sejatski Around .5g

  • @DamersenNetwerk what happens if you use 1KG

  • @DamersenNetwerk That was awesome, but just judging by the first clip of the aluminum can you used as a container, it looks like much more than 30g (beverage can ~= 350 mL). Why does the charge look so much bigger than it is?

  • @paintedbishop

Excellent question. The soda can in question was actually cut then taped back together to make it smaller. If you look closely you can see that the can is actually about 1.5in in diameter. Lol, optical illusion.

  • Nice video. Have you ever tried nitrates of other sugar alcohols, like mannitol hexanitrate or xylitol pentanitrate?

  • @prometheustwin1970 Only other sugar I've nitrated that I can think of offhand would be glycerin.

  • hahaha!!! The fuck´n caralarm! lol!

    recrystalize it btw:-)

  • @Viking0fNorway

Yeah, it seemed kinda wet and coarse. Definitely not recrystallized.

  • @dawson01912 Okay, let's clear this up real quick. It's not wet, it's not coarse. It was pressed then I removed the center section to insert the detonator. It would be coarse if it had been recrystallized. After synthesis everything comes out as a very fine powder.

  • @DamersenNetwerk

Well, it may be fine, but not relatively to the recrystallized ETN. Oh, btw, I agree with you on recrystallization, unless you plan to store ETN. Recrystallized it can store easily and safely for many months. Non-recrystallized can last over a month as well, but the longest I've held it was 2 weeks.

  • @Viking0fNorway Why would I recrystallize? What is going to contaminate my product? Left over reactants? Everything that goes in and comes out is water soluble with the exception of the product making it super simple to obtain a fairly pure product. Recrystallization sounds like a waste of time unless you want to do it just to gain the lab experience.

  • @DamersenNetwerk the etn crystals still contain some acid that can't be neutralized while they crystals are intact. Once you dissolve them, you neutralize the solution and then recrystallize the fully neutral product. This is only necessary if you don't plan on using the etn fairly quickly (within a couple of months)

  • Recristalization is used to break the cristals formed and disolve the contained acids wich may make your mixture decay over time and make it even more sensitive. Also, it removes low nitration leftovers, like Eritrol dinitrate or trinitrate, thus adding more power to the final power.

  • @DamersenNetwerk yes i have been saying that for years its all very good when your making drugs....most explosives come out quite pure there is no need or all that shit

  • @DamersenNetwerk True if you're going to use it pretty soon however when your neutralizing the crystals there is acid trapped inside the crystals that do not show up on your ph test, therefore recrystallizing removes that acid and would definately be preferred if you were going to store it for quite some time.

  • where do you get your nitric acid? and how do you shift the Ka equilibrium to favor the products for RDX synthesis? also what molarity is you nitric acid?

  • The nitration of heximethylenetetramine to RDX is not an equilibrium reaction, so a K value is not used. Ka is also used for acid/base dissociation not a nitration(to assume it was an equilibrium which it's not). The viking guy is a fucking knob all the same though.

  • ap is not THAT sensative. If u rub dry ap on the pavement with ur foot then it might go off. I disagree with ur sensative statement as I have dropped blasting caps of dry ap, had a big wooden board hit on and flattern it and dropped one off a trail bike on the road doing 40km/h. none of them detonated.

  • Its ten times more sensitive then nitroglycerin. a powder is harder to shock , and when you say dry you better mean at the point where it looks like powdered sugar and deflagrations leave no specks of liquid and warm, I live in Los ALamos (where Nukes are made) and we had a talk in my adventure scout troop from a scientist who works with explosives at the Laboratories in the area, and he said that when they make and test TATP they use robots to handle It. they are just wimps

  • 30 grams eh.. that's the most etn I've seen go off on youtube. I don't kno why nixrate said your side info is arrogant. I assume you have a license to manufacture explosives.

  • nice det powerfull stuff etn..ur side information is very arrogant though.
