  • were gonna be in the hudson

  • This pilot was so clam......

  • This pilot saved 155 people + the personal staff. This pilot is a huge hero !!

  • DId he land with the gear riased or lowered. I would imagine the choice for water landing would be to leave the gear raised to try and prevent disruption from the effect of the gear hitting the water stream. ALso you would want to prevent drag when gliding to your landing point

  • The pilot I a hero

  • im flying for only the second time in my life next week and sure would like if this dude was the pilot lol

  • How shallow is the Hudson river ? When I first heard of this I thought everybody mustve drowned

  • @ivar0 its very deep, but boats arived to rescue people before the plane sunk

  • hmm i would of just banged a uey and landed runway 13

  • Love how the 3d models nonchalantly hang out and cheer on the plane's wing, enjoying their Hudson river party.

  • Thus concludes this years' annual Sunnymount presentation of "Hair".

A "then he said, 'I'll go for your sister; again" Production.

    SPLECH*

You're not going anywhere with another round of pressurised tubes like that. Who are you, Brians' "Daddy", "God" and his syringe?

    Eat shit, FARM BOY.

  • I love the guy that say " uh I think he said he was going in the Hudson"

  • brave pilot, cool animation.

  • Bless

  • that

  • Go sully

  • the fucking annoying online ads...

  • @nicklee147 i know wtf

  • go sully! He's the pilot!

  • The pilot was so cool considering his predicament.

  • He is a hero, the pilot!

  • Poor birds.

  • Get your Call of Duty: MW 3 now at: goo.gl\nREZL

  • if i was workin the atc i wouldve been like hudson? as in the river?

  • that's intense! THAT PILOT IS AMAZINGLY TALENTED ! wow.. that must be be so so freaking horrible

  • the guy in the black shit did fist pumps lol

  • That's a helluva lot of birds. Looks like a WWII bombing run.

  • Quite a nice job by the pilot. They are lucky that NYC actually has rivers. What would they done if they were somewhere without rivers (water to land in)?

  • @onee Well, me thinks they would have found a nice piece of flat ground, perhaps a motor carriage way, and set the bloody thing down with the same skill that this bloke used in the river, eh?

  • @thedreamliner2012 You gotta be kidding me . Mate this bloody planes are not made for gliding , they could use 2 out of 3 engine , or 1 out of 2 or 3 engine to fly just fine , but once all engines lost and brake of the wing you'll lost are on a wing and downforce , and the speed is going down fast , you can't try to land it on any weid road u want . You need a 3 lane Highway to land it and you need a 1-1.5 km stretch of straight road and no cars the river was the best option .

  • @thedreamliner2012 Yes, but where do you find a place like that in New York City or around NYC? I am not from NYC, so if you do know feel free to reply.

  • @thedreamliner2012 Do me a favor, check the wingspan of a Airbus A319, then check the roadway width (can't go wider than that because of light poles) of the BIGGEST American highway, in addition, check the thickness of the roadway vs ground pressure requirements of an A320. You'll find some interesting discrepancies.

  • If you read the post that I replied to, I was speculating about what could have been done had not there been a nice, wide river to land in. That's all. If there isn't a river, I suggested that you can find the largest, widest road in view and go for it. I have no friggin' idea what your talking about. We're talking about an emegency situation with very little time to decide what to do, and your talking about ground pressure requirements. I don't follow.

  • Nothing short of amazing. The pilot acted as if he had done this every day for the last decade or so. Outstanding.

  • That captain was just totally cool, the response "Unable" says it all. Very cool

  • It was geese and the controller did AWESOME... Sully would be expected to handle the emergency but not neccesarily survive, but the controler knew his business. Very impressive.

  • 0:24 God damn Flock of Seagulls, always sucks.

  • @pluralZZ9 at any moment they would be singing I ran so far away

  • atc: you need to land at the airport

pilot: no, i have always wanted to try this...

  • the rendition was just amazing. and both pilot and air traffic controller were very calm. this is how true professionals handle these types of incidents. Kudos to them.

  • This was truly miraculous.

  • Damn. That's a lot a geese.

  • Sully is my hero! That man has ice in his veins.

  • the only reason the plane wound up in the water is because the captain made a mistake. the plane had enough power to make it back. but he set the auto thrust to the wrong setting. dumbass. putting all those lives in danger. geez! us airways has the worst training of any airline except for maybe aeroflot or air china. but the airline industry was in shambles so they made him a hero!!

  • @johnnycanales1 idiot how do you know if he is even using auto pilot? plus, one bird may not ccause an engine failure. But that group can and did. oh and also, it isn't the auto throttles fualt or U.S airways's fault.

  • @PikaDamos I said auto thrust, not auto pilot. go ahead, believe what you will. the world needs sheep too! but the captain made a mistake and that's why they wound up in the river. not because the plane was incapable of making it back. but the airline industry was on the verge of bancrupcy at the time. if it had been reported that he had made a mistake, the entire industry may too have wound up in the hudson. only makes sense to turn this guy in to a false hero.

  • (bling) You earned a trophy "Epic Win"

(bling) You earned a trophy "Like a Boss"

(bling) You earned a trophy "Immortality"

  • notice how the pilot told them he says "yes" to teterboro airport when he already said he will be unable? then his answers are very short and he stops talking. The ATC was being annoying so he focused on a perfect ditching procedure. ATC didnt do anything but clog up the comms.

  • stupid geese

  • List of preferred places to land when in an emergency in order 1. Runway 2. Taxiway 3. Anywhere else on the airport 4. Interstate highway 5. Main road 6. Country road 7. Field 8. River 9. Lake 10. Anywhere else
  • @noonedude101

Mate, he couldn't go back, he made a split second decision that he would only just make it, and just making it wouldn't be enough, he wasn't taking the chance.

He didn't really have enough time to get a main road or interstate highway cleared now did he?

And that leaves the Hudson River.

  • @RYANnHENDO

    Exactly what I was saying...

I was making the point that a river isn't that bad of a place to land

  • I cant believe that people actually thought this was a hoax even though there were multiple cameras that caught the landing! Morons!

  • X-Plane

  • Wow that's all very impressive!

    Fantastic team work.

  • The tower did a great job during this emergency too.

  • haha the pilot is so badass :D "looks like gonna be in the hudson" :D awesome!

  • Some Crazy nut in seat 23C " I'm telling you I saw a hairy monster sitting on that wing pull the wires out of that engine ! "

  • AWE 1549 made an unbelievable controlled water ditching and not one of the 155 passengers and crew were killed...heroic!

  • Nobody dies? h

  • we should make birds illegal

  • This pilot is amazing.

  • the pilot don't speak too much

  • 1:45 The beast !

  • Why didn't the captain just honk?

  • This is seriously edited. Loses the effect. Poor attempt

  • Why was the cockpit audio edited and timeframe shortened?

  • I mean, I'm not trying to be offensive, but America has gotten some pretty good luck and some great stunts. Osama was caught, plane lands safely, we've got a good country with mostly good people in it.

  • Excellent reconstruction of this event. The fade in at the end is beautiful. This pays tribute to both the pilot & the air traffic controllers. Very profesional & in control in a very uncontrolable situation, God Bless.

  • Good evening. This is your fucking captain speaking

We will soon be reaching Hudson River

Please undo your seat belt for take off

You are now free to smoke about the cabin

  • They say both 1539 and 1529 instead of 1549

  • " umm i think he said hes gonna land in the hudson " lol

  • This is the MOST successful ditching I ever Saw in my entire life!! because when I saw ditchings before, the whole aircraft blows up... :( sad... :(

  • "Engines? I don't need no fucking engines, I'm gonna land this badboy right in the middle of that river!"

This guy just does not give a fuck.

  • @NKH2202 Haha so funny

  • if that was a Boeing it would have been 2000 pieces in the river and i take no argument abt that

  • I'll be the first to say, this was an Airbus product that survived that landing.

    (I am a pilot btw)

  • I never flew in a plane before and i am 13 years old so im no flight expert but I heard a pilot say that Capt Sullenberger could of made it back to the airport if he turned around within the first minute of the bird strike and saved the very expensive plane. Why isnt anybody asking these questions?

  • @duncan7599 The airplane is replacable, the people aren't.

  • @duncan7599 Because most of us are asking questions like...Who was fllying the plane? Did they get it on video?! No! Well how much would it take him to do it again? The fact that it happened enhanced our lives by supplying a heoric tale which is very popular with human interests. No one was really ever angry it happened...If anything they were happy it happened cause it was AWESOME....but sure you to your story of the pilot you tucked tail back to the airport...but i aint gonna listen to it!

  • Lol engine lost due to bird cross

  • I can't believe how calm the operator is!! Pilot: "We lost both engines" Operator: "Uhm ok..blah blah blah" ??? I would be like Whaaaaat?!!! oh noes!!!

  • @Benderrr111 That is why you are not an ATC. ATC has to be calm under pressure so that the most can be made out of a bad situation. ATC = Air Traffic Controller

  • @Benderrr111 haha i too

  • This was a miracle, with a little help from Sully and God's grace! May God Bless you always Sully.

  • @batko78 What the fuck is wrong with you? You're an ignorant piece of shit, probably cause you're living in a shitty count. You dumb shit.

  • God bless the pilot for landing these people safely. What a miracle!!

  • R.I.P the birds who were lost in this trajic event

  • I think the air traffic controller did an excellent job handling this as well.

  • POOR FUCKEN BIRDS

  • lol xDD

The pilot was super slick, clever and witty to go to the river landing.

I think that no pilot and that he must, he knew would not do that! Well done!

  • Lots of you guys are speculating how as soon as air control asks what they want to do and the pilot says"We want to land in the Hudson", you don't realise that the person who made this video cut a little bit out. Also there weren't as many birds as shown in the video, and imagine what must be going through the sir controls guys mind. No trolling intended.

  • The airtraffic control person just doesn't seem to get it when the pilot says he's going to land in the hudson. He no doubt needs to get the wax out of his ears!!

  • Hi, aonyone got lyrics to this scene?

  • 64 birds dont like this video!

  • why doesn't anyone care about all the birds that died?:(

  • ATC:'' Turn blah blah blah turn blah blah blah

    Pilot:''We cant do it''

ATC:''What runway you do you land on''

Pilot:''We gonna be in Hudson River''

    ATC:''......what did you said?''

    *Splash*

  • only birds were harmed in the making of these news

  • 1:48 LOL look at the guy on the bottom of the wing, hes like dancing or sumthing.

  • Wow. This is a great video. Thank you.

  • Amazing! Felt like I was on the flight! Computers... WOW!

  • amazing man to land that plane xxxx

  • what if a boat was there, the guy in the boat would be like wtf

  • Very good animation

  • 2 years today

Apparently what the pilot did was nothing short of a miracle, i've no interest in flying & such but supposedly everything had to go right for nobody to be injured & the odds against him were astronomical

  • What a cool head, love him! " we cant do it!! we're gonna be in the Hudson!" no doubt this man saved everyone on board a true hero!

  • i was on that plane

  • It takes an incredible amount of skill and BALLS OF STEAL to be so cool even when your landing in the Hudson

  • Is it me, or ATC sometimes say Cactus 1529, sometime say Cactus 1549? Also, pilot did very good job! :)

  • "But honey, what do you mean forget the luggage, I just bought that Louis Vitton bag!

  • @ajamoros screw the bag! what about my pants!!!! OMG I JUST BOUGHT THESE IN PARIS! :D

  • If I were him, I would basically say "WHY DONT THESE PLANES HAVE PARACHUTES?" he said "Were gonna be in the hudson" as this happens all the time. amazing he went through the plane 2 times? I think to make sure all the people were saved.

  • @raelenepando

    I-cant-believe-your-mom-was-with-me-last-night

  • i thought they landed it flat

  • A380 crashed youtube.com/watch?v=cLauU4pxEVY

  • dang he sounds SO calm. "We are going in the Hudson" as if he was going for a swim lol.

  • @NotStoopid0228 I know! Yet, he reacted cold-bloodedly (can one say that?) which is why no one died in the ditching... Had I been the pilot, I would've probably asked: "Alright so where's the nearest parachute?"

  • just think. a little more nose angle and the plane would have crumbled up and people would have died

  • I wish you success in your studies have been nice to be appreciated

    mcmajans.com

  • LOL the bird part made me laugh. But this is amazing.

  • Vince Carter saw this from his balcony when he played for the nets

  • They didn't get far at all. The plane took off from La Guardia Airport then the plane hit a flock of geese and then pilot decided to make an emergency landing into the Hudson River.

  • I think the sad part was when some passengers lost their luggage but the good thing was no one died.

  • Comment removed

  • @jonbobizal A plane lost thrust in both engines due to birds in January of 2009. The pilot had to land in the hudson river. It's kind of obvious what was happening...

  • Absolutely spectacular - he can be my wing man anytime. Geez bravo just sends shivers down my spine - great call on his part 5/5 :)

  • are the birds ok

  • Uhh....I'll just land in that there river over yonder...duh...

  • @porchnapp .How? By hovering over to the airport? Right on siberhuskyfan!!

  • arent they going to make a movie for this. and its funny how they make the birds look evil when the plain flys through them

  • @porchnapp I'm guessing that you aren't a "real" pilot.

  • my dad and uncle were on that flight and it continues to amaze me how capt. handled things!

  • lol, anyone could do this, even in gmax lmfao

  • What an incredible professional.. "Unable." - proceeds to safely land in the Hudson.

    Awesome!

  • i liked 1:05. it looks like a movie

  • this video gave me the chills.....amazing

  • such a hero..so calm very prof. pilot,,hands up

  • In aviation, the bottom line, is that the single most important piece of safety equipment, is an experienced, well trained pilot.

  • i love the calmness when he says "well going to be in the hudson"

  • Yeah. "I think he said he's going in the Hudson"

  • Hope other Pilots take lessons from him. Thank God everyone was OK

  • why does the tower say 1529?

  • glad no one got hurt

  • The only religion that uses God's name Jehovah and tells of a resurrection of loved ones in an incoming new world order where sadness is finally gone. Thank you

  • I love the way pilots always sounds so calm.

That pilot is a true hero!

  • Unnnnbelievable! God bless this READY-COOL professional EXPERIENCED pilot & his family! Hey, Mr. Sully, don't QUIT flying, we need you!

  • Epic pilots.

  • this tells me we should get rid of runways and opt for more rivers

  • They weren't even using a seaplane.

  • i watched this from the ny piers XD

  • The term hero gets over used nowadays but this pilot is just that!! Great Videos by the way

  • Well duhh the pilot is calm, he is trained to handle the worst of situations and remain 100% focused and make the wisest decisions. Its his JOB!

  • What professionalism on the part of that pilot.

  • Yes he did his job, but it's not easy to belly land in a river with no engines and he did save 150 people so... Ye he is a hero

  • Sullenburger did a great job with being calm in this situation and make some great choices

  • I am so so so sick of people calling him a hero. HE IS A PILOT. HIS JOB IS TO FLY THE PLANE. What was he meant to do when the birds hit? "Oh, can't land now, I'll just give up!" NO. If he chopped off a leg to replace the blade in the engine or ANYTHING that went beyond his call of duty, yeah, that is heroic. He was just being a pilot!

  • @indeedso101

he truly is a hero because some pilots would think i can make this with this altitude and kill every person on the plane crashing into a building. and if you notice he does the landing on the river just like he was landing on a runway that is a hard thing to think of in a situation where a plane is going down. the passengers were probably in a panic yelling were gonna die yet he stayed calm like he is supposed to do i would like to see you land a plane on a river with no engines

  • @blackhawkpictures15 Good/excellent pilot doesn't = pilot.

  • no trip to america for u ahmet

  • lol that's what it gets when you are a glider pilot

  • Excellent video love it when the ducks come Rofl :D

  • I think it's 2.3 feet per century

  • whats the best glide speed for an A320?

  • makes us all proud now that the second coming of Christ has now occured...good lord with this guy...he did his job abd is all...now everyone clean up our puke already...worshippers...oy!

  • the two LUCKY birds hit the both engines=D

  • the pilot who landed that plane is a man. saved everyones life on that plane. true hero

  • @noryd HE IS NOT A HERO. HE DID HIS JOB. HE IS A PILOT.

  • @indeedso101

and to add on to below he landed with people crying and yelling that is also added onto what i would like to see you do

  • I liked the look of the birds :)

  • Fuck a runway im landing in the Hudson.

  • you forgot the "brace for impact" thingy

  • you must land the plane of the water with nose up exactly 13 degrees and the wings exactly straight. when you do this the plane don´t crash when you have luck.
