I had a friend who thought he was the shit because he had this toy. Unfortunately no matter how hard you cranked that bad boy it never rode as far or as well as the commercial.
I had one of these when I was a kid! I had the red and blue one. The only thing that sucked about the toy is that the character wasn't posable like the Evel Knievel toy.
Thank you, thank you! All I could find before were the Evel Knievel versions. I just KNEW I had a black version as a kid. I thought I was going crazy until I found this!
somebody has to now the name of the music for this commercial. it was very popular in the evel knievel stunt cycle commercials in the 70's. i now it is probably production music but i can't find it anywhere on the internet, somebody out there has to know the name of it.
I have a few issues of the Marvel comic book series in which these toys were based on. The characters first appeared in Captain America, IIRC. After their comic was cancelled, the team reunited briefly under a new name in several issues of X-Men. The comic book series was actually pretty good. I wish Marvel would revive this title.
so badass...this was my favorite toy as a kid....i had the stunt dirtbike

If I were to venture a guess I'd say it was done by Dominic Frontiere- It sounds similar to his work on the motorcycle movie On Any Sunday.

@randy65d I'm wondering what the name of the production music is myself, it has also appeared in a 1981 or 1982 Music Television intermission bumper.

The music is buried in the mix, but it is the most awesome commercial theme music EVER!!!

They used it on the Original Evel Knievel Stunt Cycle as well as the real Evel Knievel was in around 1977.
